Flat trading for juniors – Monday
At the end of trading the bids for 5 stocks closed higher than their last selling prices and 4 ended with lower offers.
At the end of trading, Blue Power traded 560 units and lost 25 cents to end at $13.65, Consolidated Bakeries traded 69,018 shares to close with a loss of 25 cent to close at $1.75, C2W Music traded 30,000 shares to end with a loss of 2 cents to close at 41 cents. Honey Bun recovered 25 cents of the amount it fell by on Friday, to close at $5.50 on Monday with 191,355 units changing hands. At the close, Honey Bun offers were stronger than bids which are at $5.25 to buy 31,500 units, moderate offers are at $5.65 and $6, Iron Rock Insurance traded 16,000 shares at $3.23, ISP Finance Services traded at a new high of $3.80 while trading 20,000 units starting at $3.50. Key Insurance ended with the price holding firm at $2.50 with 10,892 shares changing hands, Lasco Distributors gained 1 cent in trading 139,744 units to end at $8, Lasco Financial closed at $3.40 with 44,000 shares changing hands to gain 20 cents, while Lasco Manufacturing, closed at $5.05 with 515,762 shares trading. Paramount Trading ended with 4,000 units changing hands at $10.99 and tTech traded only 200 shares and gained 15 cents, to end at $4.20.
Producers hit new high of $46 – Monday
Trading in the early Monday morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange has been moderate, but with Lasco Manufacturing trading 158,997 units at $5.05 and Supreme Ventures trading 251,500 units at $4.75 to be the only two stocks trading over 100,000 units.
Lasco Distributors had 66,354 shares trading at $7.97 while Jamaica Producers traded 14,341 shares to hit a 52 weeks’ high of $46 as well as ISP Finance in trading at $3.50.
Trading resulted in activity in 26 securities, accounting for a volume of 790,330 units as 11 stocks gained and 8 declined. The average number of shares traded, amounts to just 30,397 units.
After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Monday, the all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 1,349.38 points to 178,863.59, the JSE Market Index jumped 1,206.55 points to 160,977.62, the JSE combined index climbed 1,119.15 to close at 172,249.14 points and the junior market index inched up 0.09 points to 2,234.74.
Jamaican$ loses more ground – Friday
The buying and selling in the forex market on Friday resulted in close to US$1 million more sold by dealers than the amount of the US currencies they bought, helping the selling rate of the US dollar to continue to gain on the Jamaican currency.
The foreign exchange market closed on the week, with dealers buying the equivalent in all currencies of US$36,345,365 and selling US$34,310,493, in contrast to US$27,777,238 purchased and US$29,407,363 sold on Thursday
In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$30,620,827 compared to US$23,605,085 on Thursday as the buying rate for the US dollar rose 12 cents to $125.07. A total of US$31,425,559 was sold versus US$27,506,903 on Thursday with the selling rate rising 13 cents to $125.89. The Canadian dollar buying rate rose $1.99 to end at $97.35 with dealers buying C$2,580,438 and selling C$1,910,591, at an average rate that rose 35 cents to $98.34. The average rate for buying the British Pound climbed 40 cents to $179.56 for the purchase of £2,462,776, while £859,944 was sold, with the rate falling 57 cents to $181.08.
At the end of trading, the selling rate for Euro, fell 81 cents to close at J$142.43 from Thursday’s rate, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$139.39, for a rise of 81 cents off Thursday’s rate. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded amounts to US$180,535 being bought, while US$155,560 was sold.
Highs & Lows| Notable changes to the highest and lowest traded rates for the Jamaican dollar in the foreign exchange market on Friday, include, a drop in the lowest selling rate of US Dollar by $19.88 to $102.12, a fall of $1.75 in the highest buying rate of the Canadian Dollar to $98.75 and a rise of $3.50 in the lowest selling rate to $93.50. The highest selling rate British Pound dipped $1.19 to $189.46 and the lowest selling rate rose $1 to $173.
5 TTSE stocks rise 4 fell – Friday
The Composite Index fell 2.71 points to close at 1,107.25, the All T&T Index fell 4.86 points to close at 1,752.45 and the Cross Listed Index slipped by 0.07 points to close at 61.46.

National Flour Mills rose by 8 cents, trading 1,050 shares at $2.30 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL gained 49 cents, to close at $22 with 55,534 units valued at $1,219,368 changing hands.
Losses| Republic Financial Holdings lost 39 cents, with 100 units changing hands, to end at a 52 week’s Low of $107.50, Sagicor Financial Corporation traded 135,902 shares and fell 14 cents, to close at $7, Scotiabank dropped $1.37 in trading 60,610 shares with a value of $3,112,683, to end at a 52 week’s Low of $51.36 and West Indian Tobacco traded 3,544 units with a loss of 2 cents, to close at $126.28.
Firm Trades| Clico Investments ended with 175 shares changing hands at $22.65, JMMB Group traded 277,375 shares to end at 60 cents and Trinidad Cement traded 200 shares and closed at $3.50.

Derrimon Trading fell 55 cents to $3.30, with 3,000 shares changing hands, General Accident Insurance gained 2 cents while trading 2,000 shares at $2.32, Honey Bun dropped sharply from its recent all-time high of $7.50 by 14 percent, by slashing $1.62 in trading on Friday with 243,212 units changing hands, to end at $5.25. A director sold 2 million units of Jamaican Teas shares with the price falling 10 cents as a total of 2,020,886 shares were traded to close at $3.10, Jetcon Corporation had 280,878 units changing hands at $2.65 after falling 5 cents. Lasco Distributors rose 34 cents in trading 2,800 units to end at $7.99, Lasco Financial closed at $3.20 with 38,500 shares changing hands to gain 4 cents, while Lasco Manufacturing closed at $5.05 with 20,688 shares trading with the price rising 5 cents and Medical Disposables traded 4,000 units at $3.53.

In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$23,605,085 compared to US$26,030,466 on Wednesday as the buying rate for the US dollar rose 3 cents to $124.95. A total of US$27,506,903 was sold versus US$34,136,160 on Wednesday with the selling rate rising 4 cents to $125.76. The Canadian dollar buying rate fell 18 cents to end at $95.36 with dealers buying C$1,028,909 and selling C$565,413, at an average rate that fell 52 cents to $97.99. The average rate for buying the British Pound climbed 87 cents to $179.16 for the purchase of £1,422,254, while £760,559 was sold, with the rate falling 29 cents to $181.65.
At the end of trading, the selling rate for Euro, rose 60 cents to close at J$143.24 from Wednesday’s rate, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$140.20, for a rise of 83 cents on Wednesday’s rate. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded amounts to US$1,347,544 being bought, while US$361,373 was sold.

Grace & JPG hit new highs – Thursday
Trading in the early Thursday morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the moderate trend of recent day with volumes remaining below the 100,000 unit level except for Lasco Manufacturing with 672,739 units as the price rose 25 cents to $5 and with the main market recording a decline overall and juniors having a minor loss.
Grace Kennedy traded 35,714 shares for a new high of $121 and Jamaica Producers traded 55,300 to hit a 52 weeks’ high of $44.10.
Trading resulted in activity in 31 securities, accounting for a volume of 1,075,717 units as 12 stocks gained and 9 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to just 33,616 units compared to an average of 11,015 units on Tuesday
