JSE majors down for 2nd month

JSE Main Market ended trading with the second monthly decline for the year as the primary indices declined by almost 2,000 points on Friday, with the market down 5.4 percent for 2020 to date.
At the close of trading, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index lost 1,949.68 points to close at 529,722.22, the JSE Market Index slipped 1,727.36 points to 482,310.09 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.52 points to 130.61.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 19 advancing, 19 declining and nine trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 42 securities accounting for 61,902,088 units valued at $374,112,515 in contrast to 27,834,480 units for $185,509,886 from 41 securities on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 31.5 million shares for 51 percent of total volume, Sagicor Select Financial Fund followed with 8.25 million units for 13.3 percent of the day’s trade and Pulse Investments with 8.1 million units for 13 percent of the market’s volume. Other stocks trading more than one million units were Sagicor Select Manufacturing and Distribution Fund with 6.7 million units and 11 percent of total volume, QWI Investments with 1.05 million shares and Wisynco Group with 1.8 million units.
The Market closed with an average of 1,473,859 units valued at an average of $8,907,441 for each security traded, in contrast to 678,890 units valued at an average of $4,524,631 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 624,731 units valued at $3,239,665 for each security changing hands compared to 596,981 units valued at $2,909,960 for each security traded. Trading in January resulted in an average of 626,134 units valued at $3,511,981 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows twenty-three stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two closing with lower offers. The PE ratio of the market ended at 18.9, while the Main Market ended at 18.2 times 2019 earnings.
In the prime market, Barita Investments lost 50 cents to close at $66.50 after trading 643,580 shares, Berger Paints dropped $1.50 to $14, with an exchange of 9,000 shares, Caribbean Cement jumped $7.99 to $77.99, after transferring 13,241 shares. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund climbed $4 to $46, in swapping 5,200 units, First Rock Capital ended at the lowest point since listing last week at $12, after losing $1 trading 24,366 shares. Jamaica Broilers climbed $4.69 to $39.70, with 164,156 shares changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose $1.60 to settle at $31.60, with an exchange of 239,060 shares. JMMB Group finished with a rise of $3.80 at $44.55, after trading 397,029 shares. Kingston Wharves closed trading at $53.03, after losing $1.97 exchanging 931 units, Mayberry Investments gained 70 cents to end at $8.20, with 10,280 shares crossing the exchange, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy tumbled $19.99 to $130.01, in transferring 1,613 units. NCB Financial closed $2 lower to $184 after trading 308,053 units, 138 Student Living lost 77 cents to end at $6.23, with 40,733 shares changing hands. PanJam Investment dipped $1.44 to $99.50 with an exchange of 15,383 units, Pulse Investments lost 35 cents to close at $11.10, in swapping 8,059,323 shares, Sagicor Group gained $1 to settle at $67, in exchanging 61,960 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed at $9.85, with gains of $1.05 in trading 362,100 shares. Scotia Group ended at $54, with a loss of $1 in transferring 272,072 shares, Seprod climbed $3 to $54, with 184,717 shares changing hands, Stanley Motta rose 40 cents to $5.60, trading 319,182 shares. Supreme Ventures lost 55 cents to settle at $21.50, in swapping 561,008 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments shed $1.06 to finish at $25.94, after transferring 88,979 shares. Victoria Mutual Investments slipped 50 cents to $9.25, with the trading of 226,844 shares and Wisynco Group gained 50 cents to end the day’s trade at $23.10, with an exchange of 1,803,893 shares.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 352,444 units valued at over US$86,027. The market index rose 1.98 points to close at 228.15. First Rock Capital traded 100 units at 12 US cents, JMMB Group 6% preference share closed at US$1, with a gain of 1 cent exchanging 8,700 units, Proven Investments rose 1.9 cents to 31 US cents, in transferring 53,551 units. Sterling Investments lost 0.01 cent to end at 2.84 US cents, with 2,406 units changing hands and Sygnus Credit Investments gained 4.5 cents to settle at a record high of 22 US cents after swapping 287,687 shares.

20 Junior Market stocks rise

Junior Market index continued to slip and closed the week down 35.51 points to 2,911.92, after falling 10.26 points for the day and leaving the average PE ratio of the market at 13.9 times 2019 earnings after advancing stocks ended with twice as many declining ones.
At the close twenty stocks rose rising and ten declined with five remaining unchanged. Trading ended with an exchange of 35 securities resulting in just 4,148,759 units valued at $16,183,548 passing through the market, compared to 24,026,851 units valued at $52,414,301 from 36 securities on Thursday.
Market activity ended with an average of 118,536 units at$462,387 for each security traded in contrast to 667,413 units at $1,455,953 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 167,673 units and $488,038, previously 170,727 units and $489,633 for each security traded. In contrast, January closed with an average of 137,619 units valued at $521,935 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows nine stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Access Financial gained $4.60 exchanging 106,983 shares at $34.60, Blue Power lost 48 cents in trading 13,013 units at $4.52, Caribbean Producers added 20 cents to end at $4.70 with 6,209 shares changing hands, Consolidated Bakeries gained 11 cents, after exchanging 700 units and closed at $1.79. General Accident added 30 cents transferring 5,685 units to close at $6.50, GWest Corporation gained 4 cents to close at $1.04 with an exchange of 433 shares, Honey Bun lost 10 cents with 93,037 shares at $7.15, iCreate declined by 12 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ low of 56 cents after trading 154,887 stock units. Indies Pharma climbed 10 cents after exchanging 115,273 shares at $2.94, Iron Rock Insurance dropped 99 cents to $3 with 42,705 shares changing hands, Jamaican Teas lost 38 cents to settle at $6.17 with 61,562 units crossing the market. KLE Group climbed 5 cents, to close at $2.50 with the trading of 14,750 shares, Knutsford Express climbed $1 higher to $11, with 57,822 units changing hands, Lasco Distributors lost 31 cents to end at 52 weeks’ low of $2.69, after transferring 2,027,010 units, Lasco Financial gained 29 cents in trading 111,039 units at $3.30. Lasco Manufacturing closed with 74,774 units changing hands, with a loss of 18 cents to finish at $3.97, Limners and Bards ended with an exchange of 241,060 shares to close at $2.89 after gaining 20 cents, Lumber Depot closed trading of 199,573 units and rising 3 cents to end at $1.50. MailPac added 10 cents to $1.89, after swapping 308,379 units, Main Event traded 22,059 units at $5.90, after rising 30 cents. Medical Disposables closed 43 cents higher at $5.73, after exchanging 4,790 units, SSL Venture Capital rose 4 cents to $1.28, with 448 shares crossing the exchange and tTech lost 53 cents in trading 2,000 units at a 52 weeks’ low at $4.27.

T&TSE closed mixed on Friday

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange stocks closed mixed on Friday with two closing at a 52 weeks’ highs and one at a 52 weeks’ low as volume climbed above Thursday’s levels.
The T&T Composite Index slipped 1.42 points to close at 1,516.20. The All T&T Index gained 0.91 points to end at 1,941.56, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a loss of 0.52 points to end at 147.75.
The market ended with 16 securities changing hands with the prices of five gaining, four declining while seven remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 2,170,370 shares valued $10,749,522, compared to 275,908 shares valued at $6,301,559, with 13 securities trading on Thursday.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of two stocks higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
Gains| Angostura Holdings traded 5,045 shares and gained 6 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $16.36, Ansa McAl added 5 cents in closing at $55.55 after 150 units changed hands, Clico Investment rose 3 cents in trading 12,733 units at $28.56. JMMB Group gained 1 cent to end at $2.70, with investors trading 1,756,480 stock units and Republic Financial Holdings traded 811 shares and gained 26 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $145.01.
Losses| Grace Kennedy traded 50,000 units and fell 10 cents to close at $3.85, Guardian Holdings traded 56,000 shares and dropped 50 cents to end at $22.50. NCB Financial lost 5 cents trading 255,200 shares at $11.25 and One Caribbean Media lost 15 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $7.75 while exchanging 3,020 shares.
Firm Trades| First Caribbean International Bank exchanged 1,100 units at $7.89, First Citizens Bank exchanged 940 stock units to settle at $50.50, National Enterprises traded 2,065 shares at $5.51, National Flour traded 435 shares at $1.49. Scotiabank traded 2,825 units to end at $62.50. Trinidad & Tobago NGL transferred 4,638 shares to close at $20.75 and West Indian Tobacco closed at $39.45 while trading 18,928 stock units.

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange suffered more losses in trading on Thursday after the market reopened from the Ash Wednesday break as declining stocks had two to one ratio over rising ones after trading levels increased over Tuesday.

First Rock closed at a new low of $13.

At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 1,243.28 points to 531,671.90. The JSE Market Index dropped 1,125.70 points to 484,037.45, while the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.18 points to 131.13.
The market closed with 46 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 advancing, 22 declining and 12 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 27,834,480 units valued at $185,509,886 in contrast to 31,839,670 units valued at $148,017,425 from 39 securities on Tuesday.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund traded 15.7 million shares for 56.5 percent of total volume, Wigton Windfarm followed with 6.6 million units for 23.7 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Group with 762,613 shares for 2.7 percent of the market share.
The Market closed with an average of 678,890 units valued at $4,524,631 for each security traded, in contrast to 565,203 units at an average of $3,795,319 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 596,981 units valued at $2,909,960 for each security changing hands compared to 592,330 units valued at $2,812,748 for each security traded. 138 Student Living preference shares declined by 50 cents to settle at $5.50, in swapping 3,555,944 shares.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 157,614 units valued $41,526. The market lost 1.01 points to close at 226.17. Newly listed First Rock Capital, traded 15,539 units at 12 US cents, Margaritaville exchanged 1,551 units at 29 US cents, Proven Investments lost 1.9 cents and closed at 29.1 US cents, with 113,774 units changing hands. Sterling Investments shed 0.04 cents after swapping 350 shares to settle at 2.85 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 2 cents to end at 17.5 US cents in trading 26,400 units.

Junior Market index drifts down

Junior Market stocks recorded more decline at the close of trading on Thursday following falls on the previous three trading days and ended with a loss of 15.02 points to 2,922.18 and leaving the average PE ratio of the market at 13.7 times 2019 earnings.
At the close of trading, the number of stocks rising and falling was almost equal, with 16 rising and 15 falling with five remaining unchanged as investors traded in more securities than on Tuesday. Express Catering and Fosrich traded at an intraday low of $4.89 and $3.20, respectively.
Trading ended with an exchange of 36 securities resulting in 24,026,851 units valued at $52,414,301 passing through the exchange, compared to 5,212,490 units valued at $18,619,974 from 29 stocks on Tuesday.
Market activity ended with an average of 667,413 units at $1,455,953 for each security traded in contrast to 179,741 units for an average of $642,068 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 170,727 units and $489,633, previously 136,798 units valued at $423,623 for each security traded. In contrast, January closed with an average of 137,619 units valued at $521,935 for each security.

T&TSE rose again on Thursday

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange stocks gained with all three main indices rising on Thursday with three closing at a 52 weeks’ high, after the market closed on the previous two days, for the carnival celebration.
The T&T Composite Index rose 0.40 points to close at 1,517.22. The All T&T Index gained 1.18 points to end at 1,940.65, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a loss of 0.05 points to end at 148.27.
The market ended with 13 securities changing hands with the prices of three gaining, one declining while nine remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 275,908 shares valued at $6,301,559, compared to 83,461 shares valued at $2,020,854, with 14 securities trading on Wednesday.

T&TSE closed higher on Wednesday

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange stocks gained with all three leading indices rising on Wednesday with three closing at 52 weeks’ highs, after the market closed on the previous two days, for the carnival celebration.
The T&T Composite Index rose 4.61 points to close at 1,517.22. The All T&T Index gained 6.64 points to 1,939.47, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a rise of 0.35 points to end at 148.32.
The market ended with 14 securities changing hands with the prices of five gaining, three declining while six remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 83,461 shares valued at $2,020,854, compared to 291,161 shares for $4,521,674, with 11 securities trading on Friday.

Massy Holdings rose 12 cents after exchanging 100 shares to finish at a 52 weeks’ high of $62.62, NCB Financial traded 6,750 shares and rose 5 cents to $11.30 and West Indian Tobacco jumped $1.45 and closed at $39.45 while exchanging 1,578 stock units.
Losses| First Citizens Bank lost 98 cents in exchanging 130 stock units to settle at $50.02, JMMB Group shed 1 cent to end at $2.68, with investors trading 30,500 stock units and Trinidad & Tobago NGL shed 5 cents in transferring 6,100 shares to close at $20.75.
Firm Trades| Endeavour Holdings traded 200 shares at $12.65, First Caribbean International Bank exchanged 350 units at $7.89, National Flour transferred 212 units at $1.49. Republic Holdings closed t with 4,000 shares changing hands at $144.75, Scotiabank traded 5,020 units to end at $62.50 and Trinidad Cement had 200 units crossing the market at $1.85.

Sharp pull back for JSE Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange suffered significant losses in the indices as declining stocks had the upper hand over rising ones after trading levels increased over Monday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived 5,157.29 points to 532,915.18. The JSE Market Index dropped 4,667.89 points to 485,163.15, while the JSE Financial Index fell 0.99 points to 131.31.
The market closed with 44 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 advancing, 15 declining and 17 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 39 securities accounting for 31,839,670 units valued at $148,017,425 in contrast to 17,374,368 units valued at $123,900,597 from 42 securities on Monday.
Wigton Windfarm traded 13 million shares for 41 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 5.2 million units for 16.2 percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share with 4.7 million shares for 14.6 percent of the market share.  Other stocks trading more than one million units were 138 Student Living with 3.6 million shares and Jamaica Producers with 1.3 million units.

The Junior Market index slipped just 5.64 points to 2,937.20 on Tuesday with 29 securities changing active, down from 36 on Monday. At the close, the prices of 13 stocks advanced, 11 declined and 5 remained unchanged.

Lasco Manufacturing dominated Junior Market trading with 3.3 million shares.

Trading ended with an exchange of 5,212,490 units valued at $18,619,974 compared to 4,197,495 units valued at $18,373,462 on Monday.  The average PE ratio of the market ended at 13.8 times 2019 earnings.
Market activity ended with an average of 179,741 units at $642,068 for each security traded in contrast to 116,597 units for an average of $510,374 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 136,798 units and $423,623, previously 134,297 units valued at $410,902 for each security traded. In contrast, January closed with an average of 137,619 units valued at $521,935 for each security.

Fontana climbed 5 cents and exchanged 77,542 shares at $6.05, GWest Corporation closed with a loss of 5 cents at $1, in swapping 37,900 shares, Honey Bun added 20 cents and exchanged 28,861 shares at $7.20. iCreate ended at 67 cents after losing 3 cents and trading 119,623 shares, Indies Pharma climbed 1 cent and exchanged 5,000 shares at $2.61, Iron Rock Insurance closed trading of 3,982 units and gained 4 cents to end at $3.99. Jamaican Teas declined by 27 cents to settle at $6.38 with 28,477 units changing hands, Jetcon Corporation exchanged 7,000 shares in closing at $1.42 after rising 2 cents, Key Insurance ended trading with 23,953 shares, after gaining 5 cents to end at $2.95. KLE Group closed at $2.30 with 47,367 shares traded, after climbing 10 cents, Lasco Financial dipped 8 cents in trading 12,470 units at $3.42, Lasco Manufacturing closed with 3,263,310 units changing hands with the price declining by 5 cents to finish at $4.10. Limners and Bards ended market activity exchanging 337,503 shares to close at $2.73 after falling 4 cents, Lumber Depot closed trading of 8,160 units and gained 3 cents to end at $1.51, MailPac moved up 1 cent to $2 with 621,115 units swapped. Paramount Trading closed trading of 10,400 units and gained 2 cents to end at $1.87 and Stationery and Office Supplies lost $1.20 to end at $8.50 with 28,996 shares crossing the exchange. CAC 2000 9.5% preference share dipped 5 cents in trading of 64,028 units at 52 weeks’ low of 80 cents and pushed the yield to 12 percent.

JSE Main Market trading picks up

Trading picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday, with 42 securities accounting for 17,374,368 units amounting to $123,900,597 in contrast to 15,728,098 units at $58,677,916 from 38 securities on Friday.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 15 advancing, 18 declining and 14 trading firm.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined 189.54 points to close at 538,072.47, the JSE Market Index fell 171.57 points to 489,831.04 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.48 points to 132.30.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund closed trading with 10 million shares for 57.8 percent of total volume, Wigton Windfarm followed with 2.8 million units for 16 percent of the day’s trade, and 138 Student Living with 1.13 million shares for 6.5 percent market share.
 The Market closed with an average of 413,675 units valued at an average of $2,950,014 for each security traded, in contrast to 413,099 units valued at an average of $1,544,156 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 593,879 units valued at $2,753,059 for each security changing hands compared to 605,686 units valued at $2,739,272 for each security traded. Trading in January resulted in an average of 626,134 units valued at $3,511,981 for each security.

Jamaica Broilers fell 65 cents to $35.15 trading 16,634 units, Jamaica Producers lost 50 cents to settle at $24, with 30,241 shares changing hands. Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at $31.50, with gains of 50 cents after transferring 34,486 shares, JMMB Group settled at $44.50, after losing 51 cents and exchanging 259,358 shares, Mayberry Investments gained 60 cents to close at $8.10, in swapping 14,076 shares. NCB Financial lost $2.01 trading 238,395 units to end at $185, PanJam Investment lost 46 cents to close at $99.05, with 35,032 shares changing hands,  Portland JSX closed 50 cents higher at a 52 weeks’ high of $10, in swapping 17,500 units, Pulse Investments transferred 269,046 shares at $11.08, after losing $1.37. Sagicor Group lost 50 cents to settle at $70, in exchanging 98,849 shares, Salada Foods climbed $2.50 to $28.50 trading a mere 34 units, Scotia Group ended at $53.11, with a loss of 89 cents swapping 183,872 shares. Supreme Ventures advanced to $23.50, with gains of $1.49 exchanging 6,218 units and Sygnus Credit Investments closed 75 cents lower to $26.20, with 49,345 shares changing hands.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 44,969 units valued at over US$12,359. The market lost 1.56 points to close at 228.24. First Rock Capital exchanged 1,000 units at 12 US cents, JMMB Group 6% preference share traded 1,000 units at 99 US cents, Margaritaville Turks lost 6 US cents transferring 1,190 units to end at 29 US cents. Proven Investments closed at 31 US cents, with 37,429 units changing hands, Sterling Investments lost 0.6 cents in swapping 2,000 shares to settle at 2.10 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments gained 0.8 US cents to end at 17.8 US cents trading 2,350 shares.
