JSE jumps 3000 points to record close – Tuesday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange hit several new record highs throughout the trading session on Tuesday and ended with strong gain to close just below the 344,000 points level.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,071.05 points at 343,950.94 and the JSE Index climbed 2,798.07 points to close at 313,378.13. Earlier in trading session, the All Jamaica hit a new intraday high of 341,987.04 points and the JSE Index 311,588.81.
Trading in the main market ended with 34.917.482 units valued at $108,176,982 versus 2,332,453 units valued at $28,665,085 on Monday.
Market activities resulted in 29 securities trading including 3 in the US dollar market compared to 31 securities trading on Friday. At the end of trading, the prices of 15 stocks rose, 8 declined and 6 traded unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by, JMMB Group 7.5% preference trading 27,800,000 shares at 99 cents, Jamaica Stock Exchange closing at $7.30, with 2,972,200 shares, and Carreras concluding trading at $9.47 with 1,071,337 units.
Major price changes| Carreras concluded trading at $9.47, after rising 47 cents with 1,071,337 units, Grace Kennedy jumped $3 to $56 in trading 161,314 shares, Jamaica Broilers rose 40 cents to $25.90, trading 9,471 stock units. JMMB Group climbed $1.90 and ended at $29.90, exchanging 1,700 shares, Mayberry Equities traded with a gain of $1.59 to end the day at $9.15 with 963,295 units trading, Sagicor Group gained 50 cents and settled at $38.50, with 14,775 shares, Scotia Group traded 57,671 units but fell $1 to end at $51.10 and Seprod shed $1.50 and finished trading at $32.50, with 2,529 shares changing hands.
Trading in the US dollar market closed with 7,827 units valued at US$6,500 as JMMB Group completed trading at $1.05 with 5,586 stock units and Productivity Business ended trading with a gin of 9 cents at 59 US cents with 541 shares changing hands and Proven Investments lost 1 cent to 18 US cents with 1,700 shares trading The JSE USD Equities Index rose 5.76 points to 153.52.
Trading resulted in an average of 1,342,980 units valued at over $4,160,653, in contrast to 80,429 shares valued at $988,451 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts 169,022 units valued at $3,514,756 compared to 173,907 units valued at $3,499,633 on Friday. June closed with an average of 250,168 shares with a value of $5,895,281, for each security traded.

Modest slip for Junior Market – Tuesday

Lasco Financial traded 1.5 million shares on Tuesday.

The Junior Market Index declined by a mere 4.42 points to close at 3,102.14 on Tuesday as 28 securities changed hands, compared to 27 on Monday, with 11 advancing, 9 falling and 8 remaining unchanged.
At the close of market activity, 3,659,666 units valued at $16,503,092 traded compared to 1,680,855 units valued at $8,331,767 on Monday. Trading was dominated with Jamaican Teas with 1.1 million units and Lasco Financial with 1.5 million shares.
IC bid-offer Indicator|At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading had 7 stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 with lower offers.
Trading closed with an average of 130,702 units for an average of $589,396 in contrast to 62,254 units for an average of $308,584 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 154,060 units valued at $655,146 and 155,454 units valued at $659,264 on the previous trading day. Trading in June, ended with an average of 139,543 units, valued at $671,002 for each security traded.

Express Catering traded 23,000 shares with a loss of 14 cents to end at $7.81, FosRich Group finished trading with a loss of 25 cents at $2.72, swapping 29,250 shares, General Accident closed 18 cents higher at $3.33, trading 22,000 stock units. GWest Corporation ended at $2.20, with 3,411 units, Honey Bun concluded trading of 5,366 shares and rose 15 cents to $4.65, Iron Rock finished 5 cents higher at $3.15, with 5,000 shares trading, Jamaican Teas lost 75 cents to close at $4 in exchanging 1,122,839 stock units. Jetcon Corporation traded 216,062 units at $4, KLE Group closed 10 cents higher at $3, exchanging 7,034 shares, Knutsford Express ended with a loss of 9 cents at $11.51, trading 4,271 shares, Lasco Distributors concluded trading 263,097 stock units and rose 26 cents to $4, with. Lasco Financial finished 15 cents higher at $5.21, with 1,533,871 units, changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing settled with a loss of 1 cent at $4.01, switching ownership of 10,564 shares, Main Event traded 6,194 shares at $7.45, Medical Disposables closed 20 cents higher at $5.80, exchanging 2,000 shares and Paramount Trading finished trading with a loss of 21 cents at $2.75, with 101,007 stock units, after the company posted a decline in profit for the year to May of $59 million versus $101 million. In the junior market preference segment, Eppley 8.75% traded 26,700 shares at $6.

Mayberry Jamaican Equities traded for the first time after a successful IPO at $9.82 and NCB Financial traded at $102, for a gain of $1.48 to help to main market to new record high in early trading on Tuesday.
The Mayberry Jamaican Equities trade was for 1,000 units and resulted in a gain of $2.26 or 29.89 percent gain on the IPO price of $7.56. NCB traded just 35,991 shares.
With just 45 minutes of trading elapsing, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,476.90 points to a record high of 342,356.79 and the JSE Index gained 1,345.62 points to close at 311,925.68. The Junior market was down by 17.75 points to 3,088.81.

Another record close for JSE stocks – Monday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at a new record high on Monday at the end of a moderate trading session, following Friday’s record closing high, as technical indicators points to the market hitting over 380,000 points before hitting major resistance.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 444.90 points at 340,879.89 and the JSE Index gained 405.35 points to close at 310,580.06. Earlier in trading session, the All Jamaica hit a new intraday high of 341,987.04 points and the JSE Index 311,588.81.
Trading in the main market ended with 2,332,453 units valued at $28,665,085 compared to 5,657,684 units valued at $158,095,077 on Friday.
Market activities resulted in 31 securities trading including 2 in the US dollar market compared to 25 securities trading on Friday. At the end of trading, the prices of 13 stocks advanced, 11 declined and 7 traded unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by, Radio Jamaica with 649,627 shares, Carreras with 596,249 units and 1834 Investments Limited with 250,000 units.
Major price changes| Barita Investments gained 51 cents to end at $9.51 trading 938 shares, Berger Paints traded just 200 shares changing hands, with the price falling 50 cents to $19, Grace Kennedy added 40 cents to $53, with 18,100 stock units trading, Jamaica Broilers lost 50 cents and closed trading at $7.50 trading 6,857 shares. At the close 27 securities changed hands, compared to 28 on Friday as 10 advanced, 13 declined and 4 remained unchanged leading to 1,680,855 units valued at $8,331,767 trading, compared to 1,107,171 units valued $5,663,225 on Friday.

Trading on Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday resulted in all market indices rising following gains on Friday.
At the close the Composite Index gained 1.75 points on Monday to 1,221.80, the All T&T Index rose 1.09 points to 1,710.39 and the Cross Listed Index ended 0.33 points up, to close at 98.49.
Market activity ended with 15 securities trading against 15 on Friday, with 6 advancing, 3 declining and 7 remaining unchanged. Trading ended with 272,153 units valued $1,852,312, compared to 181,685 units valued $8,803,482 on Friday.

JSE trades at record high

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market, trades at a new intraday high in the morning session on Monday and could be heading for another record close, if prices hold up substantially at the the end of trading.
Just before Mid-day the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,552.05 points to 341,987.04 and the ;JSE Index rose 1,414.10 points to 311,588.81. the new record follows the record reached on last Friday. When the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed a strong 2,697.06 points to 341,378.20 and the JSE Index surged 2,457.33 points to 311,034.08 as NCB Financial jumped over $3 and ended the day at $100.01 following release of the group’s nine months results.
Currently, the Junior Market trades down, 15.08 points to 3,078.02.

NCB jumps out Indies in IC TOP 10

The main market of Jamaica Stock Market ended at a record close on Friday with NCB Financial jumping $3.01 to $100.01 as Jamaica’s largest financial group dropped out of the IC Insider.com’ Top 10 main market stock list.
NCB price jumped on Friday, as investors responded positively to the group’s June results and was replaced by Carreras at 9th position. NCB remains an excellent stock to hold for long term growth and increased dividends. In the Junior market Caribbean Producers rose to $5.80 and Medical Disposables to $5.51 to ease out of the top listing and were replaced by recent Initial Public Offer, Indies Pharma at number 9 and Jetcon at 10.
The PE ratio for Junior Market Top stocks averages 7.4 compared to an average PE for the overall market of 12, based on 2018 estimated earnings and the main market PE stands at 7.8 for the top stocks, compared to a market average of 13, a good indicator of the level of undervaluation of these stocks.
The TOP 10 stocks now trade at an average discount of 37 percent to the average for the Junior Market Top stocks but it’s a third of what the average PE for the year is likely to be of 20 times earnings and main market stocks traded at a discount of 40 percent to the market.
TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns within a 12 months period. Stocks are selected based on projected earnings for each company’s current fiscal year. Based on an assumed PE for each, the likely gains are determined and then ranked, with the stocks with the highest potential gains ranked first followed by the rest, in descending order. Potential values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Earnings per share are revised on an ongoing basis based on new information received that can result in changes in and out of the list as well.

Record high for JSE stocks – Friday

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange jumped to new record highs at the end of trading on Friday, after trading at an intraday record high of 341,378.20 on the All Jamaica Composite Index.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 1,753.85 points to a closing record high of 340.434.99 and the JSE Index climbed 1,597.96 points to end at a record closing high of 310,174.71.
Trading in the main market ended with 5,657,684 units valued at $158,095,077 compared to 12,872,984 units valued at $191,208,699 on Thursday.
Market activities resulted in 25 securities trading including 2 in the US dollar market compared to 26 securities trading on Thursday. At the end of trading, the prices of 8 stocks advanced, 13 declined and 4 closed unchanged.
The day’s volume was led by Carreras with 1,409,425 units and 24.91 percent of the day’s volume, followed by Grace Kennedy with 1,066,861 units accounting for 18.86 percent of the day’s volume and NCB Financial Group with 590,804 units or 10.44 percent of the total volume.
Stocks with major price changes are, Caribbean Cement climbing $1.49 trading 19,732 shares at $41.50, Grace Kennedy that rose 53 cents to $52.60, with 1,066,861 stock units trading. Jamaica Broilers adding 70 cents, closing trading at $26 trading 502,394 shares. Kingston Wharves dropped $2.89 to $50.10 in trading 600 shares. Trading in the US dollar market closed with 502,180 units valued at US$50,395 as Proven Investments rose 0.99 cent to 18 US cents with 2,180 shares trading and Sygnus Credit Investments closed with 500,000 units trading with a decline of 0.5 cents to 10 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index rose 2.42 points to 144.71.
