Rising & falling Junior Market stocks even

Rising stocks equaled declining ones and helped move the market index of Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market up at the close on Thursday after trading 32 percent fewer shares with a 17 percent fall in value compared to Wednesday.
Trading ended with shares of 32 companies changing hands compared to 38 on Wednesday with an equal number of 15 stocks rising and declining, with two remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 28.32 points to settle at 2,487.75 after trading over the 2,500 points mark in the morning session. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 4,782,100 shares for $19,328,148 versus 7,027,159 units at  $23,247,610 on Wednesday. Fontana led trading with 31.4 percent of the volume in exchanging 1.50 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 21.8 percent for 1.04 million units and Mailpac Group with 18.3 percent after trading 875,012 shares.
Trading averaged 149,441 units at $604,005 in contrast to 184,925 at $611,779 on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade is 192,183 units at $570,657, compared to 194,462 units at $568,878 on Wednesday. October averaged 230,868 units at $535,509.

At the close of the market, Access Financial rose $1.35 to $21.90, trading 1,310 shares, AMG Packaging picked up 1 cent in closing at $1.60 trading 1,633 units, Blue Power lost 25 cents to end at $3.25 after exchanging 9,600 stock units. Cargo Handlers finished at $6.36, with gains of 6 cents as investors swapped 28,838 shares, Caribbean Assurance Brokers closed 15 cents higher at $1.90, in exchanging 2,906 units, Caribbean Cream gained 4 cents to settle at $3.85 trading 10,100 stock units. Caribbean Flavours lost 3 cents in ending at $1.67 with 113,000 shares passing through the market, Caribbean Producers fell 9 cents to $2.40 in clearing the market with 5,000 shares, Derrimon Trading gained 12 cents to end at $2.50 after the transferring of 3,700 units. Dolphin Cove rose 33 cents to $6.01, in clearing the market with 72,795 shares, Elite Diagnostic shed 10 cents to settle at $3, with 40,612 units passing through the market, Everything Fresh gained 13 cents to end at 76 cents, with an exchange of 26,898 stock units. Express Catering picked up 5 cents to end at $3.36, in trading 54,089 shares, Fontana lost 8 cents to close at $5.30 exchanging 1,502,184 shares, Fosrich gained 1 cent to end at $4.01, with 5,000 units crossing the exchange. Market inched higher for TTSE stocks

Market volume rose sharply by 886 percent and led to the value jumping 13 times Wednesday’s trade on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange at the close on Thursday, but the impact on the market indices was marginal.

The market closed with 15 securities trading, up from 14 on Wednesday, and ended with four stocks, each advancing and declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 399,542 shares for $9,719,737 compared to just 40,527 shares valued at $676,306 on Wednesday and ended with two stocks closing at 52 weeks’ lows.
The trade for the day averaged 26,636 units at $647,982 versus 2,895 units at $48,308 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 10,884 shares at $126,268 compared to 10,018 units at $131,742 on Wednesday. October trading resulted in an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index gained 1.51 points to 1,281.51, the All T&T Index rose 1.82 points to 1,706.07, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.08 points to close at 115.88.

Stocks rising│ Angostura Holdings climbed 45 cents to $16.45, trading 303 shares, Ansa McAL advanced $2 to $50, in exchanging 45,827 units, JMMB Group gained 3 cents to end at $1.80, with 100,000 stock units crossing the market and Republic Financial Holdings inched 1 cent higher to $136, after transferring 40,831 shares.
Stocks declining│ Grace Kennedy ended 5 cents lower at $3.60, with an exchange of 121,940 shares, Massy Holdings declined $2 to $57 after transferring 180 units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed at a 52 weeks’ lows of $14.50, after losing 10 cents trading 10,145 stock units and Unilever Caribbean lost 9 cents to finish at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.70, with 299 units changing hands.
Stocks trading firm│ Clico Investments remained at $25 trading 12,230 stock units, First Caribbean International Bank closed at $7.05 after transferring 500 units, First Citizens Bank held firm at $43, with 4,800 stock units changing hands. NCB Financial Group traded 55,090 shares at $8, National Flour transferred 222 units at $1.86, One Caribbean Media closed at $4.82, with an exchange of 1,000 units and West Indian Tobacco held firm at $32.50 trading 6,175 stock units.

Rising stocks beat decliners 2 to 1

Prices mostly rose on Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday with slightly fewer shares trading than on Wednesday but with the value plunging 45 percent with fewer securities trading than the prior day.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index slipped just 210.35 points to 432,122.32, the Main Index eased 230.64 points to 394,215.74 and the JSE Financial Index edged 0.02 points lower to 103.42.
Trading ended with 38 securities changing hands compared to 42 on Wednesday and closed with the prices of 21 stocks rising 10 declining and seven remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 15.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 12,009,747 shares changing hands for $182,824,365 compared to 12,512,087 units at $330,562,424 on Wednesday. Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 27.7 percent of total volume, after exchanging 3.32 million shares, followed by Sagicor Group with 18.1 percent of the day’s trade for 2.17 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 16.3 percent market share for 1.96 million units and Wisynco Group accounted for 14.6 percent with 1.75 million units changing hands.
Trading ended with an average of 316,046 units changing hands at $4,811,167 for each security, compared to an average of 297,907 shares at $7,870,534 on Wednesday. Month to date average ends at 382,145 units for $6,945,430, in contrast to 385,494 units at $7,053,566 on Tuesday. October averaged 398,200 units at $4,622,532.

Jamaica Stock Exchange finished at $18.62, after losing 38 cents and trading 232,575 shares, JMMB Group rose 65 cents to $33 in exchanging 54,100 units, Key Insurance lost 30 cents to end at $8.60 after transferring 12,009 stock units. Kingston Wharves climbed $2.75 to $48.45, with 1,375 shares changing hands, Mayberry Jamaican Equities closed 36 cents higher at $8.15 in exchanging 12,000 stock units, NCB Financial climbed $2.50 to $148.50, with a transfer of 58,915 shares. Palace Amusement jumped $100 to $1,200 after an exchange of 34 units, PanJam Investment gained $1.05 to close at $68.15, trading 31,652 stock units, Proven Investments fell by $1.88 to $36.80 after switching ownership of 9,831 shares. Sagicor Group rose 89 cents to $51, with 2,172,115 shares changing hands and Supreme Ventures gained $1.52 to close at $18 trading 45,204 shares.

Junior Market tumbles on Wednesday

The market index rose to more than 2,556 points within an hour of trading on Wednesday but selling drove the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange down at the close, with the market index dropping nearly 100 points from the day’s peak to finish with a loss for the day of 70.49 points to settle at 2,459.43.
Trading ended with more stocks declining than rising after an exchange of 33 percent more shares than on Tuesday. The market closed with 38 securities changing hands compared to 33 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 17 declining and six remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ends at 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market saw an exchange of 7,027,159 shares for  $23,247,610 compared to 5,272,918 units at $15,658,293 on Tuesday.
Fosrich led trading with 34.2 percent of total volume with an exchange of 2.4 million shares, followed by  Jamaican Teas with 13.9 percent after a transfer of 976,355 units and Tropical Battery with 9.6 percent market share for 675,760 stock units.
Trading ended with an average of 184,925 units at $611,779 compared to 159,785 at $474,494 on Tuesday. The month to date average trade is 194,462 units at $568,878, compared to 195,107

JSE main market index rising

The market indices raced to big gains of more than 5,000 points in the first hour of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday but gave up a few thousand points before ending trading up by more than 3,000 points, although declining stocks outnumbered rising ones, almost two to one.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 3,396.16 points to 432,332.67, the Main Index climbed 3,018.17 points to 394,446.38 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.33 points to settle at 103.44.
Trading ended with 42 securities changing hands compared to 45 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 13 stocks rising, 24 declining and five remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ends at 15.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 73 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday as 12,512,087 shares traded for $330,562,424 compared to 46,789,600 units at $269,845,318 on Tuesday. Barita Investments led trading with 25.9 percent of total volume, after exchanging 3.24 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 19.4 percent of the day’s trade for 2.42 million units, Wigton Windfarm with 14.9 percent market share for 1.87 million units for 14.9 percent market share and QWI Investments accounted for 9.1 percent with 1.14 million units.

JSE USD market gains

Prices of more stocks rose than fell on Wednesday, resulting in a rise in the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange after trading 13 percent more shares than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with four securities changing hands, the same as on Tuesday and closed with the price of two stocks rising, one declining and one remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 2.39 points to 190.67. The average PE Ratio is 13.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market ended with 228,031 shares trading at $22,823 compared to 201,406 units at S$1,935 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 57,008 units for US$5,706, in contrast to an average of 50,352 shares at US$484 on Tuesday. The market closed with an average of 51,083 units at US$4,998 for the month to date, compared to 50,758 units at US$4,959 on Tuesday. October ended with an average of 697,808 units for US$17,320.

In the preference segment, Eppley 5% preference share closed at US$1.02, with an exchange of 488 units.

Trading drops on TTSE – Wednesday

Trading dropped on Wednesday with 83 percent fewer shares changing hands as 83 percent less funds changed hands compared to Tuesday on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. At the close, the major indices bounced but failed to wipe the sizable declines on Tuesday.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, down from twenty on Tuesday, and ended with six stocks advancing, two declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 40,527 shares for $676,306 compared to 236,245 shares valued $3,864,740 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 2,895 units at $48,308 versus an average of 11,812 units at $193,237 for each security on Tuesday. For the month to date, averaged 10,018 shares at $131,742 compared to 10,403 units at $136,252 on Tuesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

Bulls roll on at Exchange Place

The majority of stock trading rose on Tuesday on Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market after an exchange of 68 percent more shares worth 62 percent more than on Monday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 2,982.72 points to 428,936.51, the Main Index rose 2,680.31 points to 391,428.21 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.29 points to settle at 103.11.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands compared to 41 on Monday and closed with the prices of 24 stocks rising, 13 declining and eight ending unchanged. The average PE Ratio ends at 16 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 46,789,600 shares changing hands for $269,845,318 compared to 27,815,530 units at $166,571,949 on Monday.

Junior Market slips up

Early morning trading pushed the index above Monday’s close for the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Tuesday to 2,556.57, but the market failed to hold on to the gains and closed the day with a modest fall after more stocks declined than rose, with 12 percent fewer shares traded than Monday.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands compared to 37 on Monday and closed with the prices of 11 stocks rising, 14 declining and eight remaining unchanged. Dolphin Cove closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.50.
At the close, the Junior Market Index shed 11.88 points to settle at 2,529.92. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Trading averaged of 159,785 units at $474,494 in contrast to 162,160 at $594,077 on Monday. Trading month to date, averaged 195,107 units at $565,977 compared to 197,311 units at $571,684 on Monday. Trading in October averaged 230,868 units at $535,509.

At the close of the market, Access Financial dropped $1.60 to $20.10 after trading 8,243 shares, AMG Packaging gained 5 cents to settle at $1.60, with 24,839 stock units changing hands, Cargo Handlers lost 65 cents to close at $6.95, trading 110 units. Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 24 cents to end at $1.90, with the switching ownership of 7,667 units, Caribbean Cream rose 6 cents to $4, after exchanging 137,172 shares, Caribbean Flavours picked up 13 cents to close at $1.70, in exchanging 96,197 shares. Caribbean Producers lost 3 cents to finish at $2.32, with an exchange of 216 units, Dolphin Cove dropped $1.40 to a 52 weeks’ low of $5.50, after trading 47,147 shares, Everything Fresh lost 5 cents to end at 73 cents with 686 units passing through the market. Express Catering gained 24 cents to close at $3.98, in trading 5,010 units, Fontana gained 8 cents and closed at $5.08, in the transfer of 292,599 shares, Fosrich fell 49 cents to $4 after exchanging 75,552 shares. General Accident lost 10 cents in closing at $6.10, with 27,042 stock units crossing the market, GWest Corporation fell 12 cents to 65 cents, trading 10,000   units, Indies Pharma lost 8 cents in closing at $2.43 and finishing with 13,100 units changing hands.

ISP Finance gained 11 cents to end at $16.11, after crossing the market with 22,879 stock units, Jamaican Teas shed 35 cents to close at $6.50, in the trading of 482,354 shares, Knutsford Express advanced 94 cents to $6.65, in exchanging 100 units. Lasco Distributors picked up 1 cent to end at $3.15, in the transferring of 14,129 stock units, Lasco Manufacturing gained 9 cents ending at $3.85, with 10,229 stock units passing through the market, Lumber Depot lost 8 cents to close at $1.21 after exchanging 235,357 shares. Mailpac Group ended 1 cent lower at $2.16 trading 1,071,273 shares, Paramount Trading fell 5 cents to settle at $1.30, with an exchange of 29,900 stock units, Tropical Battery gained 3 cents to close at $1.19, in crossing the market with 176,737 shares and tTech fell 8 cents to $4.87, with 50 units changing hands.

JSE USD market closes higher

Prices closed mixed on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the market index rising after exchanging 35 percent fewer shares than on Monday.  
At the close of the market, trading ended with four securities changing hands compared to five on Monday and ended with the prices of one rising, one declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index rose 5.44 points to settle at 188.28. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 201,406 shares at US$1,935 compared to 390,138 units at US$11,832 on Monday.
Trading averaged 50,352 units changing hands at a mere US$484, in contrast to an average of  78,028 shares at US$2,366 on Monday. Month to date trading averaged 50,758 units at US$4,959 in contrast to 50,782 units at US$5,218 on Monday. By comparison, trading in October averaged 697,808 units for US$17,320.

At the close of the market, First Rock Capital Investment gained 0.05 of a cent and closed at 8.65 US cents in an exchange of 1,055 units, Productive Business Solutions remained at 66 US cents, with 51 units changing hands, Proven Investments lost 0.48 of a cent to end at 25.50 US cents, in trading 300 units and Transjamaican Highway remained at 0.85 of 1 US cent after a transfer of 200,000 shares.
