Main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with moderate gains in the indices on Wednesday with trading volumes being light. Market activities close with 42 securities changing hands in all market segments of which 16 securities in the combined markets gained and 12 declined.
Five stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs and one traded at intraday highs as 4,514,100 units valued at $80,222,876 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 920,944 units changed hands, valued at $5,787,289.
The JSE Market Index jumped sharply by 2,558.24 points to 162,031.07 the all Jamaica Composite Index closed with a big gain of 2,858.97 points to end at 180,035.15 and the JSE combined index rose 2,543.90 points to close at 173,056.95.

Supreme Ventures closed at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $6.55 to record a gain of 6 cents with 64,920 units changing hands, the stock traded at an all-time high of $6.90 during the day, Proven Investments ordinary share lost 2 US cents in trading 1,244,550 units at 20 US cents and JMMB 7.5% preference share traded 137,308 units at $2.25.

Market activities picked up from the 33 securities that traded on Monday to close with 43 changing hands in all market segments of which 22 securities in the combined markets gained and 14 declined.
Eight stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs and one traded at intraday highs as 4,319,632 units valued at $43,703,774 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,200,794 units changed hands, valued at $5,249,310.
The JSE Market Index advanced by 147.39 points to 159,472.83 the all Jamaica Composite Index closed with a gain of 164.72 points to end at 177,176.18 and the JSE combined index rose 175.31 points to close at 170,513.05.

The market continues to enjoy wide securities participation with 40 changing hands on Thursday in all market segments. At the close, 13 securities in the combined markets gained and 18 declined with the market indices climbing sharply.
Five stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs and two traded at intraday high as 54,222,475 units valued at $114,953,664 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,498,422 units changed hands, valued at $9,013,294.

Trading levels on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues to be buoyant with 40 securities changing hands on Friday in all market segments. At the close 17 securities in the combined markets gained and 15 declined.
Eight stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs and 3 at intraday highs as 6,458,590 units valued at $100,762,294 changed hands in all markets, with the junior market accounting for 2,572,307 units that changed hands, valued at $13,732,252.
While all main market indices fell the declines were less than on Thursday, with the JSE Market Index dropping 1,351.93 points to 156,273.84, the all Jamaica Composite Index falling with 1,510.87 points to end at 173,601.12 and the JSE combined index diving 1,405.00 points to close at 167,824.05.

Sagicor Group fell 65 cents to close at $22.80 with 365,894 units changing hands, Scotia Group dropped $4.90 with 346,798 shares changing hands to close at $30.09, Scotia Investments recovered the $3.10 it lost on Thursday to close at $29.90 after 18,469 units traded. Seprod dropped $2.49 with 83,600 shares trading and closed at $18.51, Supreme Ventures gained 4 cents to end at $4.70 with 70,820 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 40,730 units at 22 US cents, down from 22.99 US cents.
Jamaica Public Service 9.5% preference share traded for the first time in months, with 33,000 units valued at $39,633,000 changing hands to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $1,201, for an increase of $76 and Proven Investments 8% preference shares traded 100,000 units at $5.

At the close, 9,739,157 units valued at $69,117,631 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 5,129,787 units, valued at $30,252,961.
Scotia Group help to push the main market indices sharply higher as it traded during the day at $35, with the index computed on an average price of $34.23, the stock last traded at $30.10. The JSE Market Index jumped 3,767.19 points to 160,847.44, the all Jamaica Composite Index made a sharp upturn with 4,210.06 points to end at 178,712.39 and the JSE combined index rose sharply by 3,534.70 points to close at 172,939.83.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market fell on Tuesday as Grace Kennedy, Scotia Group and Scotia Investments fell by more than $2, while JMMB Group and Pan Jam fell by nearly $1 but the junior market continued on its merry way to record yet another new high.
At the close, 9,739,157 units valued at $109,231,948 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 5,129,787 units, valued at $30,252,961.
The JSE Market Index declined by 696.34 points to 157,080.25, the all Jamaica Composite Index fell 778.20 points to end at 174,502.33 and the JSE combined index rose 225.21 points to close at 169,405.13.
Trading resulted in 44 active securities in all market segments as 14 in the combined markets gained and 19 declined. Six stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday with wild swings in the indices with the main markets rising quite strongly in the early morning session only to see it fall by 11 am but regained lost ground to be up strongly at the close. The junior market surged out of the block from the start with that index rising over 8 percent at the peak.
The JSE Market Index jumped 1,053.22 points to 157,776.59, the all Jamaica Composite Index 1,177.02 points to end at 175,280.53 and the JSE combined index rose 2,503.44 points to close at 169,179.92.
At the close, 6,236,086 units valued at only $35,592,624 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for of 2,024,430 units changed hands, valued at $9,319,672. Trading was broad based with a total of 43 active securities in all market segments as 25 in the combined markets gained and 12 declined. Eight stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs and two traded at intraday highs.

Twelve stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing highs as the Jamaica Stock Exchange main market exploded by the close of trading with the main indices jumping between 2,496 and 2,870 points, as JMMB Group jumped to $11.10, National Commercial Bank moved to a record close of $42, Sagicor group jumped to a new closing high of $22.
The JSE Market Index surged 2,568.62 points to 154,252.66, the all Jamaica Composite Index soared by 2,870.57 points to end at 171,342.34 and the JSE combined index leapt 2,496.15 points to close at 162,129.73.
At the close, 17,158,401 units valued at $122,672,205 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for of 3,347,529 units changed hands, valued at $9,025,299. Trading was broad based with a total of 44 active securities in all market segments as 25 in the combined markets rising and 10 declining.
The main market seems on its way to 185,000 points level the nest major area of resistance having been moving well away from resistance around the 165,000 points level on the all Jamaica composite index.

The Jamaica stock market started the new-year where it left off the old with all three main indices making generous gains to reach new records. The JSE Market Index climbed 777.23 points to 151,469.36, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 868.60 points to end at 168,231.85 and the JSE combined index gained 945.76 points to close at 159,214.90.
At the close, 5,096,460 units valued at $149,875,337 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for of 1,707,388 units, valued at $6,741,784. A total of 35 securities traded in all market segments, 17 of which in the combined markets gained and 8 declined. Five stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing high and 2 at intraday 52 weeks’ high as investors continue to push prices higher.
The main market was facing resistance around the 165,000 points level, the on the all Jamaica composite index, now that it has crossed it and seems to be moving away. This level appears to be moving towards support for the market.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading,ICI -JSE Sum-01-16 in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 11 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 2 with lower offers.
In trading, Berger Paints ended with 85,100 shares trading at $3.15 for a loss of 5 cents, Cable and Wireless rose 8 cents with 212,690 units changing hands to close at $1.38, Caribbean Cement climbed 54 cents to end at $20.44, with 10,000 shares trading. Carreras closed at $60, with 2,261,300 units changing hands for 82 cents fall but not until after it traded at a new 52 weeks’ intraday high of $62, Gleaner Company traded 52,000 shares at $1.70 with a 40 cents increase. Grace Kennedy with 2,483 units changing hands finished $2.75 higher at $84, Jamaica Broilers rose 25 cents and closed at $10.50 with 124,677 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers traded 1,000 shares to end at $32, after rising $1.32, ICI -JSE fn qts-01-16Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 39 cents in trading 1,400 shares at $18.99, National Commercial Bank gained 50 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $40.50, with 12,145 units changing hands. 138 Student Living had 260,933 units trading at a 52 weeks’ high of $4.60 after rising by 10 cents, Radio Jamaica had 51,000 shares trading with a gain of 42 cents to end at $4.08, Sagicor Group closed at $20 with 24,426 units changing hands, Scotia Group had 36,809 shares changing hands at $30.01. Seprod closed with a loss of 44 cents at $20.56 with 2,938 shares trading, Supreme Ventures ended at $4.66 with 208,363 units changing hands and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.25% preference share traded 26,000 units to gain 4 cents and ended at $2.06.

The Jamaica stock market ended a momentous 2015 with all three main indices making generous gains to reach new record highs, with the JSE combined market index recording gains of 102 percent for the year to date and the all Jamaica composite up 99 percent.
At the close, 6,627,296 units valued at $58,113,757 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 4,049,568 units, valued at $15,799,898. A total of 36 securities traded in all market segments, 19 of which in the combined markets gained and 8 declined. Four stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at intraday 52 weeks’ high as investors continue to push prices higher.
At the close the JSE Market Index climbed 874.37 points to 150,692.13, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 977.16 points to end at 167,363.25 and the JSE combined index gained 815.65 points to close at 158,269.14. The main market was facing resistance around the 165,000 points level, the on the all Jamaica composite index, now that it has crossed it, JSE Sum 31-12-15rthe first week in 2016 will show if that level will now provide strong support for launch higher.

Gleaner Company traded 2,661 shares at $1.30 with a 10 cents decline but had a bid at $1.49 to buy 10,240 shares. Grace Kennedy with 1,728 units changing hands finished higher by $1.15 at $81.25, Jamaica Broilers rose 25 cents and closed at $10.25 with 477,964 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers traded 4,891 shares to end at $30.68, after falling 32 cents. JSE Fn Qts 31-12-15Jamaica Stock Exchange shed 39 cents in trading 100,000 shares at $18.60, Kingston Wharves closed at $11.35 with 41,990 shares changing hands, 5 cents higher. National Commercial Bank gained 99 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $40, with 170,396 units changing hands, the stock traded as high as $40.02 for a 52 weeks’ intraday high. Pan Jamaican Investment had 4,140 shares trading with a gain of $1 to $94, Sagicor Group gained $1.50 and closed at $20 for 52 weeks’ high with 37,610 units changing hands, Scotia Group had 163,055 shares changing hands at $30.01 after falling by $1.48. Scotia Investments closed at $30 with only 5,000 shares trading and Supreme Ventures rose 4 cents and ended at $4.66 with 509,719 units changing hands.
