49 securities traded as JSE gains big

At the close, 9,739,157 units valued at $69,117,631 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 5,129,787 units, valued at $30,252,961.
Scotia Group help to push the main market indices sharply higher as it traded during the day at $35, with the index computed on an average price of $34.23, the stock last traded at $30.10. The JSE Market Index jumped 3,767.19 points to 160,847.44, the all Jamaica Composite Index made a sharp upturn with 4,210.06 points to end at 178,712.39 and the JSE combined index rose sharply by 3,534.70 points to close at 172,939.83.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a reading of 13 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 with lower offers.
In trading, Barita traded 13,800 shares and fell 20 cents to close at $3.80, Berger Paints ended with 518,126 shares trading at $3.20, for a fall of 70 cents, Cable and Wireless ended with 1,543,691 units changing hands to close at $1.40, but traded as high as $1.50 before the close. Caribbean Cement gained 10 cents to end at $25.10 with 77,398 shares trading, the stock traded as high as $27.50 during the day. Carreras lost $1 to end at $60 with 94,600 units changing hands, Ciboney traded 72,323 shares at 25 cents, Gleaner Company traded 109,622 shares to close at $2.70, Grace Kennedy climbed back to $84, with a rise of $3.80, as 757 units changed hands. Jamaica Broilers gained 30 cents to close at $11.50 with 54,818 shares changing hands, for a new 52 weeks’ high. Jamaica Producers had 8,257 shares trading as the price inched up by 4 cents to $31.60, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 18 cents to end at $19 while trading 29,100 shares, JMMB Group traded 147,734 units to end at $12, Kingston Wharves traded 13,400 units but lost 5 cents to close at $11.20. Mayberry Investments traded 71,024 shares and gained 10 cents to end at $4.80, National Commercial Bank ended at $41.49 with 33,790 units changing hands, Pan Jamaican Investments rose 99 cents to close at $96 with 6,500 shares trading. Radio Jamaica traded 42,205 shares but closed $5.60. Sagicor Group gained of 50 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ closing high at $23.50 with 266,030 units changing hands, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 12,400 shares and lost 60 cents to end at $11, Scotia Group closed with 158,508 shares changing hands at $30.10, Scotia Investments gained $3.10 to close at $26,989 after 121,032 units traded. Seprod rose by $1 as it traded 6,037 units to end at $21, Supreme Ventures regained 3 cents to end at $4.66 with 114,784 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 523,177 units to end at 22.98 US cents and the companies 8 percent preference share traded 52,666 units at $5.
