Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with the two major indices falling, even as a number of stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high.
At the close, 6 stocks advanced, 5 held firm and 5 declined as 115,087 shares were traded at a value of $1,075,427 in contrast to Monday’s 1,192,408 shares valued at $3,543,220.
The Composite Index declined 3.11 points to 1,248.32, the All T&T Index fell sharply by 8.34 points to 1,822.26 and the Cross Listed Index gained 0.30 points to 90.46 with year to date gains of 15.72 percent.

Republic Financial Holdings dropped $1.99 to $104 on Friday on the TTSE.

Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday resulted 12 securities changing hands compared to 18 on Thursday with the indices mostly falling.
Market activity closed with 3 stocks advancing, 7 unchanged and 4 declining in an exchange of 195,248 shares valued at $3,655,973 compared to Thursday’s 371,489 shares valued at $2,456,056.
The Composite Index lost 2.06 points to end at 1,250.77, the All T&T Index declined 4.41 points to 1,829.67 and the Cross Listed Index added 0.04 points to 90.11 with year to date gains of 15.27 percent.

Trinidad stocks drop 6% in 2016

Trinidad Cement closed at a 52 weeks’ high on Friday.

Trinidad based companies lost nearly 6 percent of their value in 2016 as the country’s economy faced challenges during the year based primarily on the fall in the price of oil which led to the shortage of foreign exchange and slippage in the value of the country’s currency.
While the values of the Trinidad based company declined that for the wider Caribbean grew by nearly 58 percent and resulted in the Composite index rising but by only 4 percent. The market closed the year on a positive note, with the IC bid-offer Indicator | showing the strongest reading for the last two trading days of the year with just 2 stocks closing with bids that were lower than their last sale price.
Trading on Friday resulted in 11 securities changing hands compared to 13 on Thursday. Market activity ended with 5 stocks rising, 1 declining and 5 holding firm, with 262,813 shares being traded valued at $6,001,767 compared to 155,564 shares being traded valued at $1,446,576 on Thursday.
The Composite Index rose 3.37 points to end the year at 1,209.53, the All T&T Index gained 1.35 points to 1,834.23 with a year to date loss at 6 percent. The Cross Listed Index rose 0.71 points at 78.17 points with year to date gains of 57.89 percent.

JMMB 20% higher in Trinidad

JMMB is one of four Jamaican stocks selling at a big premium on the TTSE.

At the end of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Exchange on Thursday, the four Jamaican stocks listed on the exchange were priced much higher than they are in Kingston, providing investors with good arbitrage opportunities.
The premium placed on the Jamaican stocks, ranged between 11 per cent for Scotia Investments to a high of 20 percent for JMMB Group.
Trading activity resulted in 15 securities changing hands, up from the 14 traded on Wednesday with 4 securities advancing, 3 falling, while 8 traded firm while 2 stocks closing at 52 week’s highs and 1 at a low.
The market ended with 219,147 shares changing hands with a value of $2,777,660 in contrast to Wednesday’s volume of 171,910 shares with value of $2,294,211.
The market closed with the Composite Index rising 1.87 points to close at 1,178.77. The All T & T Index gained 1.31 points to close at 1,809.30 points, down 7.14 percent for the year to date, while the Cross Listed Index advanced 0.33 points to close at 73.19 points and is up 47.83 percent for the year to date.

Stocks First Citizens Bank was the largest mover on Trinidad and Tobago Exchange when trading ended on Friday, with the price that dropped $3.93 on Thursday, recovering 50 cents with 200 units trading to end at $31.50. Elsewhere trading ended with 9 securities changing hands, down from 11 on Thursday.
