Big jump for Main Market as Junior Market rises

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange got a big push on Wednesday and the Junior Market recorded a mild gain but the JSE US dollar market slipped back at the close of trading as trading ended with the volume and value of shares trading dropping from Tuesday’s levels.
At the close, the Combined Market Index surged 3,166.88 points to close at 354,008.38, the JSE Main Index climbed 3,125.71 points to 341,423.65 while the All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 4,446.25 points to 387,274.02 the Junior Market popped 27.24 points to 3,867.28 and the JSE US dollar market dipped 5.36 points to 224.79.
Trading ended, with 17,993,851 shares changing hands, for $65.6 million, versus $141.47 million, with 19,518,971 shares traded in all markets on the previous day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded amounting to US$7,682 from US$4,956 on Tuesday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 22.3 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.5 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.

Gains for JSE USD Market

Investors on Tuesday traded 75 percent fewer shares with 81 percent less value than Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market and resulting in 10 active securities compared to 12 on Monday with four rising, two declining and four ending unchanged.
A total of 52,982 shares were traded for US$4,956 compared with 211,152 units at US$25,901 on Monday.
Trading averaged 5,298 shares at US$496, versus 17,596 stock units at US$2,158 on Monday, with a month to date average of 23,958 shares at US$1,461 versus 31,135 units at US$1,832 on the previous day. November ended with an average of 33,854 units for US$3,351.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index gained 4.81 points to end at 230.15.

Sygnus Credit Investments USD share gained 0.13 of a cent to end at 9.99 US cents after an exchange of 40,000 units, Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share declined by 1.7 cents to end at 11 US cents after an exchange of 2,300 shares and Transjamaican Highway climbed 0.06 of a cent in closing at 0.96 of one US cent with an exchange of 1,028 shares.

JSE Main Market marked down

Falling stock prices were the dominant development on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Tuesday following an 88 percent rise in the volume of stocks traded valued 154 percent higher than on Monday, and resulted in  58 securities trading down from 61 on Monday and ended with prices of 17 rising, 28 declining and 13 ending unchanged.
A total of 11,957,180 shares were traded for $124,947,760, up from 6,352,026 units at $49,169,596 on Monday.
Trading averaged 206,158 units at $2,154,272 compared with 104,132 shares at $806,059 on Monday and month to date, an average of 130,026 units at $1,522,185 compared to 103,264 units at $1,299,997 on the previous day. November closed with an average of  202,406 units at $1,736,493.
Jamaica Producers led trading with 3.73 million shares for 31.2 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 3.27 million units for 27.3 percent of the day’s trade, Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.57 million units for 13.1 percent of the market and Transjamaican Highway with 1.11 million units for 9.3 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,524.39 points to settle at 382,827.77, the JSE Main Index dived 1,994.02 points to 338,306.94 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.45 points to close at 81.27.

Stocks fell in large numbers in trading on Tuesday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange after the volume of stocks traded more than double that on Monday after rising 102 percent more shares changed hands as the value of stocks traded climbed 680 percent more than on Monday after trading took place in 45 securities up from 43 on Monday and ended with 13 rising, 28 declining and four closing unchanged.
A total of 7,508,809 shares were traded for $16,523,628 compared to 3,722,443 units at $9,822,437 on Monday.
Trading averaged 166,862 shares at $367,192 compared with 86,568 units at $228,429 on Monday with a month to date average of 138,260 units at $374,059 compared to 127,534 stock units at $376,634 on the previous day. November ended with an average of 259,893 units at $711,335.
Everything Fresh led trading with 3.27 million shares for 43.6 percent of total volume followed by ONE on ONE Educational with 673,767 units for 9 percent of the day’s trade and Fosrich with 585,693 units for 7.8 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dropped 59.27 points to settle at 3,840.04.

Big surge in trading on JSE USD market

Trading picked on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market with a 1,450 percent surge in the volume of shares changing hands worth 2,398 percent more than on Friday, resulting from trading in 211,152 shares at US$25,901 compared to a mere 13,619 units at just US$1,037 on Friday, resulting in trading in 12 securities, compared to five on Friday with prices of six rising, three declining and three ending unchanged.
Trading averaged 17,596 units at US$2,158 compared with 2,724 shares at US$207 on Friday, with a month to date average of 31,135 shares at US$1,832 versus 42,739 units at US$1,552 on the previous trading day. November ended with an average of 33,854 units for US$3,351.

Trading declined on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday with a modest decline in the volume of stocks traded, with 33 percent lower value than on Friday, after 61 securities were exchanged compared to 51 on Friday leading to 27 rising, 22 declining and 12 ending unchanged.
A total of 6,352,026 shares were traded for $49,169,596 down from 6,541,604 units at $73,470,799 on Friday.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange inched higher at the close on Monday, with a 12 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded as the value of stocks traded dropped 33 percent from trading on Friday with 43 securities trading versus 37 on Friday and ended with 20 rising, 17 declining and six closing unchanged.
A total of 3,722,443 shares were exchanged for $9,822,437 against 4,242,438 units at $14,592,692 on Friday.
Trading averaged 86,568 shares at $228,429 compared with 114,660 units at $394,397 on Friday, with the month to date, averaging 127,534 units at $376,634 versus 150,411 stock units at $459,398 on the prior trading day. November closed with an average of 259,893 units at $711,335.
Dolla Financial led trading with 660,397 shares for 17.7 percent of total volume followed by MFS Capital Partners with 444,314 units for 11.9 percent of the day’s trade and EduFocal with 412,969 units for 11.1 percent market share.

New ICTOP10 listing

The Jamaica Stock Main Market recorded gains to close out the past week on a positive note, the second week that this is happening but the Junior Market Index was flat for a second week, and both markets enjoyed some sizable price movements that are in ICTOP10 lists.
Access Financial that dropped out of the Junior Market TOP10 last week returns with the price at $21.31 replacing Medical Disposables after the latter rose 7 percent for the week to $5.33. There were no new listings for the Main Market 10.
Only two Junior Market TOP10 stocks declined this past week with the rest gaining. Elite Diagnostic dropped 13 percent to $3.04 and Lasco Financial fell 9 percent to close at $2.74. Paramount Trading jumped 14 percent to $1.95, followed by Iron Rock Insurance with a rise of 12 percent to $2.45.
The Main Market 10 had four rising stocks and five declining. 138 Student Living rose 14 percent to $5.20, Key Insurance was up 10 percent to $3.68 and Jamaica Broilers gained 4 percent to $28. Guardian Holdings fell 11 percent to $495, Berger Paints fell 6 percent to $9.45 and Radio Jamaica dipped 4 percent to $1.90.
At the end of the week, the average PE for the JSE Main Market TOP 10 is 5.7, well below the market average of 13.9, while the Junior Market Top 10 PE sits at 5.9 versus the market at 12.1, important indicators of the undervaluation of the ICTOP10 stocks.
