A total of 44 securities were active, leading to 9,435,523 units valued at $123,466,769 changing hands, in all market segments. at the close 26 securities rose and 9 declined with 9 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at an intraday 52 weeks’ high.
The JSE Market Index shed 301.69 points to 132,432.68 the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 337.15 points to end at 146,957.28 and JSE combined index dipped 859.23 points to end at 138,361.33.

In trading, Barita Investments closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $3.66 while trading 61,000 shares to end at with a gain of 16 cents, after trading at $4, Berger Paints dropped jumped 80 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $3.80 after 207,422 shares were traded. Cable and Wireless recover some lost grounds and gained 15 cents, with 2,120,843 shares changing hands. On the offer were 39,129 shares at 95 cents with bid in at 86 cents to buy 79,702 units. Caribbean Cement rose 10 cents to end at $18.10, with 183,769 shares changing hands. Carreras had a big trade with 1,006,300 units to close at $54 but with 1 million units being a cross, the stock gained 99 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high, Gleaner Company traded 37,300 shares to end at $1.92, Grace Kennedy closed at $68.50 while gaining 30 cents with 16,379 shares changing hands. Jamaica Broilers traded 207,000 shares to close at $9 for a gain of 50 cents, Jamaica Producers traded 1,237 shares and gained 20 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $23.70, Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with 46,000 shares trading with a gain of 21 cents at $10.86. JMMB Group traded 164,806 shares to close at $11 with the price gaining $1 for new 52 weeks’ closing high, Kingston Wharves traded 44,395 units to close at $11.10 for a 52 weeks’ closing high, after rising by 10 cents,Mayberry Investment rose 10 cents to end at $4.20 by trading 54,500 shares. National Commercial Bank with 47,367 shares changing hands declined 50 cents to end at $32.50. Pan Jamaican jumped $3.49 in trading 19,650 shares to end at $85, Pulse Investments traded 60,000 shares to gain 15 cents and ended at $1.35 for a 52 weeks’ high. Sagicor Group dropped 20 cents with 1,225,725 shares trading, to close at $14.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 11,929 units, the price closed at $9.50 after falling $1, Scotia Group ended with 110,716 shares changing hands and closed at $26.17 after declining $1.03. Scotia Investments fell 70 cents to close at $26.80 as 811,400 units traded, Supreme Ventures ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $4.65, after rising 15 cents with 222,596 shares changing hands and Proven Investments ordinary share ended at 22.98 US cents with 73,500 units changing hands.

Desnoes and Geddes did not trade but the stock closed with several bids at $19.87 to buy 1,823,929 shares with an offer of 59,126 units at $25, then at $28 with very small volumes. Jamaica Broilers closed at $6.92 with 134,660 shares changing ownership, for a loss of 18 cents, Jamaica Producers gained 10 cents in trading 59,820 shares at $18.60, JMMB Group traded 50,000 shares to close at $8.06 with a loss of $1.44, Kingston Wharves traded at a new high of $7.65 to add 65 cents with 1,238 shares changing hands. National Commercial Bank closed with a small gain with 50,000 shares trading to close at $30.11, the shares of 138 Students Living lost 5 cents in closing at $4.15 with 1,200,000 shares, the stock traded at an intraday low of $3.90, Pan Jamaican Investments traded 147,199 shares at $61.56 with a gain of 56 cents. Sagicor Group with 586,567 shares closed 14 cents higher at $13.15, Scotia Group ended with 286,773 shares trading at $3.52 after losing 48 cents, Scotia Investments lost 5 cents in ending at $26 while 32,475 shares traded, Seprod traded 19,000 shares at $15 for a gain of $1. Proven Investments traded 143,731 ordinary shares at 21 US cents, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 105,000 units at $2 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 27,000 units at $2.65 for a gain of 8 cents.
JSE price changes fluid on Monday
Two junior market and 3 main market stocks ended at new 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 junior stock trading at 52 weeks’ intraday high. The main market indices enjoyed another day of decent gains. The JSE Market Index fell 6.27 points to 106,653.25, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 7 points to 118,147.30 and the JSE combined index jumped 594.88 to end at 111,679.90 points.

Desnoes and Geddes closed with a bid to buy 10,000 units at $17.28, at $2.25 above the last traded price. Grace Kennedy ended with 1,000 shares trading at $64.50, with a gain of 50 cents. Jamaica Broilers closed at $7.10 with 283,284 shares changing ownership, for a gain of 60 cents, Jamaica Producers lost 15 cents in trading 77,628 shares at $18.50, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 30 cents in closing at $7.50 with 143,900 shares changing hands. Mayberry Investments traded 15,006 shares at $2.60 at the close with a gain of 25 cents, National Commercial Bank closed with a loss of $2.94 with only 4,025 shares trading to close at $30.05. 138 Students Living lost 20 cents in closing at $4.20 with 15,000 shares, Pan Jamaican Investments traded 8,000 shares at $61 with a loss of 99 cents. Radio Jamaica traded 3,056 shares to close at $4, for an 18 cents decline, Sagicor Group with 20,500 shares closed 9 cents lower at $13.01, Scotia Group ended with 13,099 shares trading at $24 after losing $1.64 and Sterling Investments gained 10 cents in ending at $13 while 8,200 shares traded.
Gleaner trades 19m shares on JSE
Market activity was halted on the Jamaica Stock Exchange due to technical issues that occurred around mid-day a Jamaica Stock Exchange source indicated to IC Insider. Trading resumed at 3 PM and closed at 3:30.
Not many more securities traded after resumption, but 19 million Gleaner shares changed hands, 18,996,993 units were bought through Victoria Mutual Wealth Management and sold by Mayberry Investments from house inventory at 3:17:44 PM with a value of $36,094,287.
Trading ended with just 23 securities changing hands as 23,173,353 units, valued at $96,919,052 were exchanged. At the end 13 stocks gained, compared to only 2 on Wednesday and 4 declined in all market segments.
The JSE Market Index rose 2.14 points to 98,798.05, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index added only 2.40 points to 109,368.67 and the JSE combined index gained 52.07 points to end at 102,111.65.

Jamaica Broilers traded at $5.90 at the end with 66,961 shares changing ownership after gaining 30 cents. Jamaica Producers added $1.90 to $18 with 171,230 units trading. The Jamaica Stock Exchange shares added 5 cents with 8,465 shares changing hands at $7.55, JMMB Group had 52,374 shares changing hands at $7.65, National Commercial Bank traded 136,629 shares and closed at $30, Sagicor Group with 22,400 shares changing hands, closed at $12.70 with a 20 cents increase. Scotia Group traded 134,944 units in closing at $24.12 for an increased just 2 cents and Proven Investments ordinary share, traded 1,208,025 units at 19.5 US cents after losing 0.05 cents.
JSE slips slightly at close Monday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday closed with main market indices undergoing small losses. The Jamaica stock market closed with 8 stocks rising, 12 declining as 28 securities changed hands with 3,402,118 units trading, valued at $40,255,758, in all market segments.
At the close, the JSE Market Index dropped 80.85 points to 100,727.82, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index shed 90.37 points to close at 111,525.61 and the JSE combined index dipped 54.59 points to end at 104,309.22.

Hardware & Lumber ended up at $16, after adding $1 with 13,500 units changing hands. Jamaica Producers traded at $19 with 100,000 shares changing ownership. JMMB Group traded 12,000 shares up to $7.99 to gain 19 cents, with the company reporting strong increase in profit for the first quarter, National Commercial Bank traded 99,530 shares at $30 while losing 10 cents. Pulse Investments lost 10 cents in trading 57,000 shares to end at 35 cents, Radio Jamaica traded 27,440 shares to end at $4, with a gain of 5 cents, Sagicor Group ended trading with 1,770,848 units at $13, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 20 cents to close at $8.10 while trading 23,990 units. Scotia Group did not trade but had a bid at $24.51 that is higher than the last selling price of $24 and Scotia Investments traded 9,157 with decline of 69 cents to $27.30.
