Honey Bun drops 80c in early JSE trading
Trading, early Monday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the slow and moderate pace of recent weeks with few stocks trading over 100,000 shares. After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Monday, the indices gave up ground with losses in recorded in all the main ones.
Only three stocks that did are Consolidated Bakeries with 323,874 shares at $1.90, Honey Bun with 1,007,307 units but the price fell by 8 cents to $5 and Iron Rock with 187,915 units at $3.20 but still has 4,673,129 units on the bid to buy at $3.20.
Trading resulted in activity in 20 securities, accounting for a volume of 1,662,709 shares compared to as 11 stocks gained and 5 declined, including Jamaica Producers that fell by 99 cents to $48.01, with 7,317 shares changing hands. The average number of shares traded amounts to 83,135 units compared to an average of 45,191 units on Friday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 233.06 points to 176,930.60, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 208.39 points to 159,249.24 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index fell 200.32 to close at 170,442.94 points andthe junior market index slipped 1.17 points to 2,214.46.

Lasco Financial closed with a fall of 5 cents at $3.39, with 321,690 shares changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing lost 1 cent to close at $5 with 810,020 shares trading, Medical Disposables traded 11,500 shares to close at $3.50 after shedding 10 cents, Derrimon Trading 11.75% preference share traded 46,155 units but lost 6 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.08.

Slow start to the week – Monday
The Jamaica stock market is off to a slow start for the week with low volumes in early Monday morning trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The leading trades are Radio Jamaica with 50,800 shares at $1.75 and Lasco Financial Services with 78,198 at $3.43 and tTech have 92,965 units changing hands at $4. Iron Rock Insurance has a bid to buy 4,676,395 shares at $3.23 but the stock has not traded so far.
Trading resulted in activity in 21 securities, accounting for a volume of 309,390 units as 6 stocks gained and 4 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to just 14,733 units compared to an average of 132,153 units on Friday.
After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Monday, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 306.23 points to 177,777.41, the JSE Market Index gained 273.81 points to 160,006.41, the JSE combined index climbed 263.72 to close at 171,568.14 points andthe junior market index rose a mere 0.96 points to 2,255.99.

Trading in junior market, saw an increase in the number of active securities over that of Wednesday, but the volume of stocks traded fell well below the nearly 10 million units that were previously traded, as the market closed with 17 securities being active, leading to 8 advancing and 6 declining.
The junior index rose 15.46 points to 2,245.44 at the close as only 755,695 shares changed hands down from 9,846,087 units of Wednesday, valued at $3,529,737 changed hands, in contrast to $46,610,748, previously. At the end of trading the bids for 5 stocks closed higher than their last selling prices and 2 ended with lower offers.
At the end of trading, Access Financial traded 4,210 shares and rose 30 cents, to end at $17.30, CAC 2000 gained 15 cents in trading 270 shares, to end at $6.70.

Jamaican Teas lost 10 cents in trading 4,540 shares at $3.70, Jetcon traded 42,398 shares but fell by 15 to $2.50, Lasco Distributors traded 130,530 units to end unchanged at $7.99. Lasco Financial gained 4 cents to close at $3.40 with 20,188 shares changing hands, while Lasco Manufacturing closed with a gain of 5 cents at $5.05 with 28,284 shares trading and tTech ended with 3,000 units changing hands but fell 14 cents to close at $4.06.

ISP Finance Services traded at a new high of $3.80 while trading 20,000 units starting at $3.50.
