Junior Market trading drops – Tuesday

Trading levels pulled back sharply on Tuesday at the close of the Junior Market and ending with 27 securities changing hands, against 35 on Monday.
Volume of stocks trading fell 49 percent and the value declined 66 percent, compared to Monday. At the close, prices of 14 stocks rose, 9 declined and 4 remained unchanged leading the market index to inch 3.83 points higher to 3,133.31.
Just 1,355,631 units, valued $6,100,280 traded, compared to 2,681,294 units valued at $18,082,805 previously.
Trading ended with an average of 50,209 units for an average of $225,936 in contrast to 76,608 units for an average of $516,652 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 171,991 shares with a value of $745,149 compared to 182,331 shares carrying a value of $789,233 previously. In contrast, May closed with an average of 81,626 units for an average of $311,248 for each security traded.

Derrimon Trading closed with a loss of 10 cents at $2.60, in swapping 40,681 shares, Dolphin Cove closed unchanged at $12 with just 800 shares traded, Everything Fresh declined by 12 cents to settle at $1.50, after trading 2,189 units, Elite Diagnostic closed 10 cents higher at $3.95, with 29,150 stock units trading. Express Catering shed 10 cents in trading of 139,445 units at $6.90, FosRich Group close with a loss of 4 cents at $4.96, exchanging 22,698 shares, Fontana ended trading with 77,631 shares, after rising 19 cents to end at $4.39, General Accident closed 15 cents higher at $4.20, with 586 stock units trading. GWest Corporation rose 17 cents to close at $1.20, in exchanging 490 shares, Honey Bun dipped 2 cents in trading of 20,889 units at $6.33, Indies Pharma traded 74,924 shares, after rising 20 cents to end at $3.30, Iron Rock closed 3 cents higher at $3.55, with 32,000 stock units trading. ISP Finance climbed 50 cents and exchanged 2,916 shares at $15.50, Jamaican Teas gained 6 cents in exchanging 1,104 shares at $4.50, Jetcon Corporation declined by 5 cents to settle at $1.95 after trading 54,881 units, Key Insurance climbed 35 cents and exchanged 180,623 shares at $3.35. Lasco Distributors fell 5 cents trading 23,742 units to close at $3.65, Lasco Financial exchanged 290,924 shares at $5.20, Lasco Manufacturing dipped 14 cents in trading 127,727 units to close at $4.01, Main Event ended trading with 65,328 shares, after rising 2 cents in closing at $5.45. Medical Disposables closed 10 cents higher at $7.50, with 9,507 stock units trading, SSL Venture Capital rose 10 cents to $1.60, in trading 16,400 shares and Stationery and Office closed trading of 53,750 units and gained 5 cents to end at $9.50.

Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange Head Quarters

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed lower at the close on Tuesday, with the three main market indices declining with declining stocks beating advancing ones.
Market activity ended with trading in 17 securities, with 2 advancing, 8 declining and 7 remaining unchanged as 201,914 shares valued $3,914,187 changed hands, compared to 312,898 shares valued $8,314,644 from 14 securities trading on Monday.
At close of the market, the Composite Index dipped 3.69 points to 1,358.43. The All T&T Index declined 1.83 points to 1,801.03, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.76 points to close at 123.60.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with one stock with a higher bid than the last selling price and four with lower offers.
Stocks ending with gains| First Citizens climbed 70 cents in completing trading of 3,763 shares at $40, and Trinidad & Tobago NGL rose 2 cents to close at $29.02, after exchanging 63,419 shares.
Stocks closing with losses| Angostura Holdings closed with a loss of 1 cent and settled at $16.05, with investors exchanging 55 shares, Clico Investments lost 5 cents to end at $24.40, with 6,551 units changing hands, First Caribbean International Bank added 17 cents and ended at $8.20, with 12,000 stock units changing hands. Guardian Holdings shed 25 cents and ended at $18.20, with an exchange of 470 stock units, JMMB Group dropped 2 cents to $2.03, trading 87,836 stock units, Scotiabank declined 5 cents and ended at $62.50, with 9,430 stock units crossing the exchange. Trinidad Cement ended trading 5 cents lower and settled at $2.50, trading 1,192 units and West Indian Tobacco fell $1.73 and ended at $110.27, with 3,048 stock units changing hands.
Stocks closing firm| Massy Holdings settled at $55, trading 8,773 units, National Enterprises ended at $6.68, with an exchange of 2,096 stock units, NCB Financial Group settled at $8.45, with 500 units crossing the exchange, One Caribbean Media ended at $10.20, with investors exchanging 48 shares. Prestige Holdings completed trading of 1,580 stock units at $9.48, Republic Financial Holdings settled at $121, with 153 units trading and Unilever Caribbean closed at $25.30 with an exchange of 1,000 shares.

JSE surges to new record close – Monday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market continues to reach new highs for the year as investors continue to focus their attention on main market stocks and leaving their Junior Market siblings to play second fiddle.
At the close on Monday, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,297.34 points to a record close of 483,631.36 and the JSE Index surged 2,996.42 points to yet another record close of 440,482.91.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 12 securities advanced, 16 declined and 9 traded firm, as a total of 37 securities traded, compared to 33 on Friday. Market activity ended with 77,902,533 units for $226,722,040, in contrast to 96,408,959 units valued $1,106,187,077 on Friday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 74 million units or 95 percent of total main market volume, Grace Kennedy closed with 1.84 million shares changing hands equating to 2.4 percent of total trades, followed by Victoria Mutual Investments with 416,503 stock units and less than one percent of the day’s trades.
The market closed with average of 2,360,683 units valued $6,870,365, in contrast to 3,213,632 shares valued at $36,872,903 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,508,699 shares, with a value of $12,537,308, compared to 1,430,601 shares, with a value of $13,110,955 previously. May closed with an average of 2,248,261 units at an average of $12,751,529 for each security traded.

Jamaica Broilers finished trading 33,000 units with a fall of $ 2.25 to end at $33.75, Jamaica Producers traded 78,931 shares and rose $2 to close at $27, JMMB Group added $1 trading 73,874 shares to end at $39, Kingston Wharves dived $5 to close at $65, trading 8,937 stock units, Mayberry Investments fell 50 cents, trading 78,393 shares at $8.25. Mayberry Jamaica Equities fell 90 cents to end at $11.20, with 84,460 shares changing hands, PanJam Investment climbed $1 to conclude trading of 37,270 shares at $95. Pulse Investments rose 33 cents to close at $2.98, trading 24,500 shares. Salada Foods traded 205 shares after rising $1.50 to close at $34, , Sagicor Group traded 18,082 units with a rise of 50 cents to close at $48.50, Scotia Group climbed $1.25 to close at $53.50, with an exchange of 172,626 shares and Seprod lost $1.98 to end at $48, in trading 99,522 shares.
Trading in the US securities market resulted in 7,144 units valued at over US$8,587 changing hands. Market activity ended with JMMB Group 6% preference share closed at US$1 trading 3,244 units, JMMB Group 5.75% settled trading of 2,500 shares at US$2, Margaritaville Turks exchanged 100 units at 25 US cents and Proven Investments traded 1,300 units in closing at 26 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index declined 0.23 points to close at 189.11.

Trading levels climbed on Monday with broad based involvement of Junior Market companies, except for just three to end with 35 securities changing hands, compared to 30 on Friday.
At the close of trading, prices of 12 stocks rose, 16 declined and 7 remained unchanged. The market index inched 1.14 points higher to close at 3,129.48.
Market activities ended with 2,681,294 units at $18,082,806 changing hands, compared to 3,154,186 units valued at $11,105,777 previously.
Trading ended with an average of 76,608 units for an average of $516,652 in contrast to 105,140 units for an average of $370,193 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 182,331 shares carrying a value of $789,233 compared to 195,406 shares carrying a value of $822,944 previously. In contrast, May closed with an average of 81,626 units for an average of $311,248 for each security traded.

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed higher at the close on Monday with the three main market indices rising with advancing stocks beating out declining ones.
Market activity ended with trading in 14 securities against 13 on Friday, with 5 advancing, 2 declining and 7 remaining unchanged as 312,898 shares valued $8,314,644 changed hands, compared to 260,178 shares valued $3,039,820 from 13 securities trading on Friday.
At close of the market, the Composite Index rose 3.72 points on Monday to 1,362. The All T&T Index gained 4.57 points to 1,802.86, while the Cross Listed Index rose 0.39 points to close at 124.36.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with one stock with a higher bid than the last selling price and none with a lower offer.
Stocks ending with gains| Ansa Mcal increased 16 cents and completed trading of 100,000 units, at $55.18, First Caribbean International Bank rose 12 cents and settled at $8.37, with 11,754 stock units trading, JMMB Group increased by 1 cent and ended at $2.05, with 30,656 stock units changing hands. Scotiabank gained 5 cents and settled at $62.55, trading 2,400 stock units and Trinidad & Tobago NGL finished trading of 33,238 units with 20 cents rise close at $29.
Stocks closing with losses|National Flour fell 2 cents to $1.70, with an exchange of 7,306 units and Prestige Holdings closed with a loss of 2 cents at $9.48, with 100 units crossing the exchange.
Stocks closing firm| First Citizens ended at $39.30, with 1,267 units trading, Gaurdian Media closed at $12.75, after exchanging 100 shares, Massy Holdings ended at $55, with 1,027 units trading, Republic Financial Holdings closed at $121, with investors exchanging 700 shares. Just one new stock for IC TOP 10

Stocks mostly closed higher on the Jamaica Stock Exchange during the past week but Lasco Financial was the sole stock falling from the TOP 10 listings and letting Jamaican Teas back in.
Rising stock prices in the last week help in reducing the projected gains for some of the leading stocks compared to position at the end of the prior week. The three leading Junior Market stocks for the coming week are, Iron Rock with projected gains of 242 percent, followed by Caribbean Producers 233 percent and tTech with possible gains of 202 percent.
Radio Jamaica with potential gains of 161 percent leads main market stocks, followed by Sterling Investments with 156 percent and Victoria Mutual Investments in third spot with the potential to gain 144 percent by March next year.
The main market, closed the week with the overall PE rising to 15.2 but the Junior Market remains at 11.1. The PE ratio for Junior Market Top 10 stocks averages 7.2 and the main market PE 9.1. These levels, point to a big upside for TOP 10 stocks over the next 12 months and Junior Market stocks in particular.
The TOP 10 stocks now trade at an average discount of 35 percent to the average for the Junior Market Top stocks and main market stocks trade at a discount of 40 percent to the overall market.
TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns within a 12 months period. Projected earnings, for each company’s current fiscal year, are used in determining, the selected stocks. The PE for and projected earnings for each stock are computed to show potential gains for the year, which are ranked in descending order. Potential values will change as stock prices fluctuate and will result in movements of the selection in and out of the lists for most weeks. Earnings per share are revised on an ongoing basis as new information is received that can result in changes in and out of the list.

JSE rise on volume surge – Friday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market made gains at the close of trading on Friday, but pulled back sharply after as much as 6,551.54 on the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index that touched 485,516.89 after just 11 minutes of opening.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index gained 1,368.67 points to 480,334.02 and the JSE Index advanced 1,243.76 points to 437,486.49.
At the close market activity, on the main and US markets, the prices of 14 securities advanced, 12 declined and 7 traded firm, as a total of 33 securities traded, compared to 29 on Thursday. Market activity ended with 96,408,959 units valued $1,106,187,077, in contrast to 39,807,927 units valued $250,698,516 on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 55.9 million units or 58 percent of total main market volume, Sagicor Group closed with 17.8 million shares changing hands equating to 18.5 percent of total trades, followed by Stanley Motta with 15 million stock units and 16 percent of the day’s trades. Also coming in with good volumes are Mayberry Jamaica Equities trading 2.38 million shares and Wisynco Group with 2.86 million shares.
The market closed with average of 3,213,632 units valued at over $36,872,903, in contrast to 1,531,074 shares valued at $9,642,251 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,430,601 shares, with a value of $13,110,955, compared to 1,268,507 shares, with a value of $10,702,650 previously. May closed with an average of 2,248,261 units at an average of $12,751,529 for each security traded.

Seprod rose $1.98 to end at $49.98, in trading 168,276 shares, Supreme Ventures lost 40 cents trading 151,529 shares to settle at $29.40 and Wisynco Group traded 2,859,714 shares and rose $1 to end at a record close of $19.50.
Trading in the US securities market resulted in 422,452 units valued at $96,845 changing hands. Trading levels climbed on Friday with the volume rising 209 percent above Thursday’s level and the valued traded rising 127 percent.
Market activities ended with 3,154,186 units valued at $11,105,777 changing hands, compared to 1,021,456 units valued at $4,902,792 previously.
Trading ended with an average of 105,140 units for an average of $370,193 in contrast to 37,832 units for an average of $181,585 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 195,406 shares carrying a value of $822,944 compared to 206,109 shares carrying a value of $876,630 previously. In contrast, May closed with an average of 81,626 units for an average of $311,248 for each security traded.
At the close of trading, 30 securities changed hands, compared to 27 on Thursday, resulting in prices of 10 advancing, 9 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The market index declined 3.86 points to close at 3,128.34.

TTSE stocks make headway on Friday

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange rose modestly at the close on Friday with the three main market indices rising with advancing stocks be dominant movers.
The market closed with 13 securities trading similar to Thursday, leading to 6 advancing, 2 declining and 5 remaining unchanged as 260,178 shares valued $3,039,820 changed hands, compared to 228,214 shares valued $4,565,216 from 13 securities trading on Thursday.
At close of the market, the Composite Index rose 0.57points on Friday to 1,358.40. The All T&T Index gained 0.29 points to 1,798.29, while the Cross Listed Index inched higher by 0.12 points to close at 123.97.
IC bid-offer Indicator|The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with 2 stocks with higher bids than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
Stocks ending with gains| Agostini’s closed with an increase of 15 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $23.75, after exchanging 113 shares, Grace Kennedy ended with a rise of 10 cents at $3.25 trading 91 units, Guardian Holdings ended trading with 10,137 shares and rose by 5 cents to settle at $18.45. JMMB Group added 4 cents and ended at $2.04, with 1,000 stock units changing hands, Massy Holdings gained 5 cents and ended at $55, after exchanging 200 stock units and NCB Financial Group increased 1 cent and ended at $8.45, with 160,000 stock units changing hands.

Junior Market volume contracts on Thursday.

Trading levels declined on Thursday compared to Wednesday, ending with 1,021,456 units valued at $4,902,792 changing hands, compared to 2,945,014 units valued at $13,949,439 changing hands previously but this may be a signal of higher prices ahead.
Trading ended with an average of 37,832 units for an average of $181,585 in contrast to 101,552 units for an average of $481,015 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 206,109 shares carrying a value of $876,630 compared to 226,213 shares carrying a value of $959,667 previously. In contrast, May closed with an average of 81,626 units for an average of $311,248 for each security traded.
At the close of market activities, 27 securities changed hands, compared to 29 on Wednesday, resulting in prices of 12 advancing, 7 declining and 8 remaining unchanged. The market index rose a mere 1.26 points to close at 3,132.20.
