Rising stocks shine as Junior Market dips

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday, with the market declining after slightly more stocks rose than fell after 78 percent more shares traded than Thursday.
Trading resulted in the same number of securities on Thursday and Friday changing hands with 31 each day and closed with the prices of 13 stocks rising, 11 declining and seven remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dropped 11.17 points to settle at 2,497.10. The average PE Ratio of ended at 10.6 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,117,697  shares for $4,670,235 compared to 1,750,144 units at $6,183,716 on Thursday. Lumber Depot led trading with 80 percent of total volume after 2.50 million shares changed hands, followed by Mailpac Group with 7.2 percent or 223,047 units and General Accident with 70,442 units for 2.3 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 100,571 units at $150,653 compared to 56,456 at $199,475 on  Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade resulted in an exchange of 104,252 units at  $235,332 compared to 104,530 units at $241,734 on Thursday. Trading in August resulted in an average of 104,426 units at $321,996.

At the close of the market, Access Financial gained 44 cents to settle at $22, in an exchange of 4,740 shares, AMG Packaging lost 1 cent to close at $1.79 trading 600 units, Blue Power rose 9 cents to $3.59 while exchanging 100  stock units. Cargo Handlers dropped $1.34 to $6.16, in transferring 1,000 shares, Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 1 cent and ended at $1.93 with 6,276 stock units crossing the exchange. Caribbean Producers closed at $2.35, after gaining 3 cents trading 500 shares,  Consolidated Bakeries ended 14 cents higher at $1.49, with 3,513 stock units changing hands, Elite Diagnostic lost 23 cents to finish at $3.05, with 5,000 units crossing the exchange. Express Catering gained 10 cents in clearing the market with 8,156 stocks to end at $4.30, Fontana lost 5 cents to settle at $4.70, after 32,958 shares crossed the exchange, Fosrich finished 31 cents higher at $3.95, in exchanging 16,662 stock units. Honey Bun slipped 9 cents to $5, with 2,200 units passing through the market, iCreate lost 6 cents to end at 62 cents and clearing the market with 62,218 shares, Indies Pharma rose 9 cents in closing at $2.84 while trading 1,903 stock units. Iron Rock Insurance gained 12 cents to settle at $3, with an exchange of 6,681 units, ISP Finance dropped $3 to $12 with 100 shares clearing the market, Knutsford Express gained 5 cents to close at $6.90 with an exchange of 4,334 stock units. Lasco Distributors lost 7 cents, finishing at $3, exchanging 48,120  shares, Lasco Manufacturing shed 13 cents to settle at $3.52, in trading  49,975 stocks, Limners and Bards fell by 13 cents to end at $2.57, in exchanging 43,120 shares. Lumber Depot gained 5 cents to close at  $1.09, in finishing with a transfer of 2,495,326 stock units, Mailpac Group rose 2 cents to settle at $2.08 trading 223,047 shares and Stationery and Office Supplies lost 2 cents in closing at  $5.58, with investors switching ownership of 10 stocks.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000, 9.5% preference shares gained 1 cent to close at $1.02 with 18 stock units changing hands.

Volume up prices down on JSE USD market

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Friday, with the market declining after over 41 times more shares traded than on Thursday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising. 
At the close of the market, trading ended similar to Thursday, with five securities changing hands and ended with the prices of one stock rising, three declining and one remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index lost 1.98 points to settle at 190.96, with the average PE Ratio ending at 12.6 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 860,406 shares, accounting for US$20,339  compared to 20,101 units at US$32,755 on Thursday. The average trade ended at 172,081 units changing hands at US$4,068, in contrast to an average of 4,020 shares at US$6,551 on Thursday. Trading ended, with an average of 93,239 units for the month to date at US$11,962  in contrast to 83,384 units at US$12,949. By comparison, August ended with an average of 83,402 units for US$7,526.

Sygnus Credit Investments declined by 1.5 US cents to close at 12 US cents trading 104,750 shares and Transjamaican Highway slipped 0.07 of a cent to 0.81 of a US cent, with 750,000 shares passing through the market.
In the preference segment of the market, Equityline Mortgage Investment preference share closed at US$1.96, with 50 units changing hands.

Declining TTSE stocks beat gainers 5 to 2

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Friday, after 197 percent more shares traded than on Thursday, resulting in a near 5 to 2 ratio of declining to advancing stocks.
The T&T Composite Index declined by 5.59 points to 1,318.36, The All T&T Index added 4.65 points to 1,801.51, while the Cross Listed Index fell by 2.18 points to close at 112.77.
The market closed with sixteen securities trading with two stocks advancing, nine declining and five unchanged. Market activity ended with 142,979 shares valued at $1,460,607 changing hands compared to 48,041 shares for $909,097 from 11 securities on Thursday.
The average trade on Friday amounted to 8,936 units at $91,288 versus an average of 4,371 stock units for $82,463 for each security. The average trade of 10,804 units at $139,058 for the month to date compares to 10,969 units at $143,280 on Thursday. August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market rising as more stocks rose than fell as investors traded 37 percent fewer shares than Wednesday, but with almost the same dollar value.
Trading ended with 31 securities changing hands compared to 29 on Wednesday and ended with the prices of 17 stocks rising, the prices of 10 stocks declining and four, with remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index gained 25.28 points to settle at 2,508.27. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 10.7 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 1,750,144 shares for $6,183,716 compared to 2,756,985 units at $6,229,918 on Wednesday.
Mailpac Group led trading with 29.2 percent of total volume resulting in an exchange of 510,609 shares followed by Main Event, with 20.7 percent for 362,231 units and Indies Pharma with 9.3 percent or 162,846 stock units.
Trading ended with an average of 56,456 units at $199,475 in contrast to 95,068 at $214,825 on Wednesday. JSE Main Market closes higher Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after slightly more stocks rose than declined after an exchange of 30 percent fewer shares than on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index gained 1,124.89 points to 400,646.11; the Main Index increased 1,078.27 points to 365,783.55 and the JSE Financial Index shed 0.37 points to settle at 95.82.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands compared to 44 on Wednesday and closed with the prices of 18 stocks rising,16 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.3 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 6,254,690 shares for $40,537,477  compared to 8,881,013 units at $39,150,303 on Wednesday.
On another day of low volume passing through the market, Pulse Investments carved out 32.7 percent of total volume, with 2.05 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway for 15.3 percent, with 957,355 units and Wisynco Group, with 12.9 percent, amounting to 808,615 shares.

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Thursday, with the market declining after 54 percent fewer shares changed hands than on Wednesday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising. 
At the close of the market, trading ended with five securities changing hands compared to two on Wednesday and ended with the prices of one stock rising, two declining and two remaining unchanged.
The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.91 points to settle at 192.94, with the average PE Ratio ending at 12.9 based on IC Insider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 20,101 shares, accounting for US$32,755  compared to 37,232 units at US$13,216 on Wednesday.

JSE Main market in a struggle

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday with the market declining after four stocks fell for three rising after an exchange of 78 percent more shares than on Tuesday, with similar values.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 3,653.98 points to 399,521.22. The Main Index fell by 3,312.47 points to 364,705.28, the JSE Financial Index shed 1.02 points to settle at 96.19.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands compared to 42 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 20 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio of the market ended at 15.2 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 8,881,013 shares for $39,150,303  compared to 4,987,272 units at $39,141,028 on Tuesday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 32.2 percent of total volume for 2.86 million shares, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 23.1 percent and 2.05 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 17.5 percent and 1.55 million shares.

The JSE USD Equities Index lost 0.68 points to settle at 193.85, with the average PE Ratio ending at 12.9 based on IC Insider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings. The market closed with an exchange of 37,232 shares, for US$13,216  compared to 9,507 units at  US$2,513 on Tuesday. At the close, the average trade was 18,616 units at US$6,608, in contrast to an average of 3,169 shares at US$838 on Tuesday. Trading ended, with an average of 94,722 units for the month to date at US$13,863 in contrast to 99,335 units at US$14,302. By comparison, August ended with an average of 83,402 units for US$7,526.

Falling stocks push TTSE down Wednesday

The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended trading on Wednesday, with the market declining after investors swapped 42 percent more shares than on Tuesday, resulting in declining stocks outnumbering rising ones two to one.
The market closed with seventeen securities trading with four stocks advancing, eight declining and five unchanged.  Trading resulted in 190,298 shares passing through the market valued at $3,240,340 compared to 134,360 shares for $3,706,470 on Tuesday from 12 securities.
The average trade on Wednesday amounted to 11,194 units at $190,608 versus an average of 11,197 stock units for $308,872 for each security.  For the months to date, the average trade amounted to 11,395 units at $147,215 compared to 11,418 shares at $142,394 on Tuesday. In contrast, August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.
The T&T Composite Index dropped 4.27 points to 1,320.88. The All T&T Index tumbled 8.69 points to 1,788.79, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.03 to close at 115.22.
