JSE majors slip on Monday

C&W jumped 17.5% to close at 94 cents on Monday.

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange dived on Monday with the main market ended with 994,217 units valued at $13,640,909 changing hands compared to 4,292,363 units valued at $81,728,669 at the close on Friday.
Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 125,186 units valued at US$29,442, bringing the total of all trades to just J$17,409,489. At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index declined 474.81 points to 255,922.08, the JSE Market Index declined 432.60 points to 233,174.01 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 8.79 points to end at 181.86.
At the close of trading, 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 10 stocks advancing and 11 declining.

Jamaica Broilers closed at $18, with a loss of 20 cents trading 41,365 shares, Jamaica Producers was down 25 cents to close at $14.50 with 2,100 shares changing hands. Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at $6.50, with trades of 14,455 shares, JMMB Group lost 6 cents, closing at $19.25 while exchanging 346,670 shares, Kingston Properties traded 2,000 units, with gains of 5 cents to close at $8.85, Kingston Wharves closed at $30, with a loss of 40 cents with the exchange 1,998 units. Mayberry Investments lost 5 cents to close at $4.65 with 100 units switching owners, NCB Financial Group gained 50 cents to close at $72, after exchanging 818 shares, PanJam Investment traded $3.91 higher, closing at $33.91 with 4,271 shares, Proven Investments declined 38 cents to close at $24.63 with 112,186 shares exchanged, Pulse Investments traded 17,144 shares at $2.59, having gained 10 cents, Radio Jamaica closed at $1.50, gaining 7 cents with 1,150 shares changing hands. Scotia Group declined 59 cents to close at $41.50, with 28,297 shares trading, Seprod dived $3.48 in closing at $26.52 with a mere 570 shares switching owners. Proven Investments US ordinary shares closed at 23.9 US cents, gaining 0.02 US cents in trading 125,186 units and Proven 8.25% preference share closed 10 cents lower to $5 exchanging 10,300 units.

ISP Finance and C&W back in TOP 10

Pull back in the prices of several Junior Market stocks, resulted in changes in the TOP 10 junior stocks at the close of the week. The changes took place against the back ground of an unprecedented 5 issues of new shares around the same time in the market.
Some investors are of the view the public issue of shares all coming around the same time, contributed to the softness in the market over the past two weeks.
On Wednesday, this week, IC Insider.com BUY RATED Stationery and Office Supplies (SOS opens to the public for purchase, at a priced of $2 and is expected to close on the same day it opens. Express Catering IPO opened and close last week Wednesday with more than 1,000 applications received.
ISP Finance price dropped to $13.56 during the past week to re-enter the Top 10. Returning back to the TOP 10 are Caribbean Flavours and Lasco Distributors
Moving out of the top list are AMG Packaging, Lasco Manufacturing with the price rising to $4.70 from $4.30 at the close of the previous week and tTech with the price rising 50 cents to a record $10.
In the main market Sagicor Group spent just one week in the top listing with the price moving from$30 at the end of the previous week to end at $33 and is replaced by Cable & Wireless with the price down under $1 at 80 cents, support for the stock is around 75 cents, hence it could bounce back from these levels soon.

NCB Financial Group is worth watching keenly in the days and weeks ahead.

Market movement continues to be constrained by near term resistance points, it does not prevent stocks from moving in either direction, but it will tend to keep prices overall from big movements upwards.
The average PE ratio for the Junior Market Top stocks is down at 6.8 with SOS in at a PE of 5 times 2017 earnings. The PE for the main market holds at 6.7. The average PE for the overall main market, remains at 13 and 12 for Junior Market, based on 2017 estimated earnings.
At the close of the week, IC Insider.com’s TOP 10 Junior Market stocks now trade at an average discount of 43 percent to the Junior Market average, while those in the main market are trading at a 49 percent discount, to the average of the market, leaving stocks with room for growth in the months ahead in the market.
Two stocks to watch are Cable & Wireless with the price around support level and NCB Financial with very limited number of stocks currently being offered.

Trading on the main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange picked up over Thursday’s levels but declining stocks numbered more than advancing ones leading to declines in the market indices by more than 1,300 points.
At the close of trading, 26 securities changed hands in the main market with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 10 stocks advancing and 12 declining. The main market ended with 4,292,363 units valued at $81,728,669 changing hands compared to 1,294,238 units valued at $29,684,333 at the close on Thursday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 136,527 units valued at US$46,401, bringing the total of all trades to J$87,681,879.
At the end of trading, the All Jamaica Composite Index declined 1,429.83 points to close at 256,396.89, the JSE Market Index lost 1,302.74 points to 233,606.61. The JSE US dollar market index gained 0.45 to close at 173.07.

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed sharply at the close on Wednesday as more stocks rose than fall, helping to drive the indices up by more than 2,300 points.

At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,558.93 points to  258,475.28, just 1,000 points lower than the close on Thursday last week, before it dropped on Friday by 5,207.13 points.
At the end of trading, the JSE Market Index surged 2,331.48 points to 235,500.26 and the JSE US dollar market index closed unchanged at 172.17. Twenty five (25) securities changed hands in the main market, with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 11 stocks advancing and 6 declining. The main market ended with 2,769,523 units valued at $67,527,250 changing hands compared to 4,342,047 units valued at $87,253,212 at the close on Tuesday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 219,087 units valued at US$86,787 and brought the total trading to $78,662,040.

15 stocks gained – Tuesday

Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded at an all-time high on Tuesday.

Gains in the prices of 15 stocks on the main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange drove the indices up at the close on Tuesday, adding to the big gains on Monday, but the gains over the past two years are not enough to wipe the 5,207 points drop on Friday last, that left the All Jamaica Index at 254,236.40 on Friday. Down from 259,443.53 on the previous day.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 1,268.06 points to close at 255,916.35, the JSE Market Index gained 1,155.35 points to 233,168.78 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 0.06 points to close at 172.17.
At the close of trading, 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, and one in the bond market leading to 15 stocks advancing and 3 declining. The main market ended with 4,342,047 units valued at $87,253,212 changing hands compared to 1,989,011 units valued at $20,502,913 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 62,895 units valued at US$13,838 bringing the total trade to J$89,256,266.

JSE majors rise on Monday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market index recovered from the sharp fall on Monday to post some modest gains at the close of trading on Monday, but declining stocks still outnumbered advancing ones, 2 to 1 as investors continue to mark the majority of prices down on a day of modest trading.
At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index added 411.89 points to close at 254,648.29, the JSE Market Index gained 375.28 points to 232,013.43 and the JSE US dollar market index shed 3.42 points to close at 172.23.
At the close of trading, 23 securities changed hands in the main market, with 2 trading in the US dollar market, Activity led to just 5 stocks advancing and 11 declining. The main market ended with 1,989,011 units valued at $78,337,785 changing hands compared to 3,946,660 units valued at $78,337,785 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 132,375 units valued at US$35,402 bringing the total trade in all the markets to J$$25,045,014.

Office supplies’ company heads TOP 10

IC Insider.com BUY RATED Stationery and Office Supplies (SOS) jumped into the TOP 10 Junior Market stocks in the number one position at the close of the past week.

The SOS stock which opens to the public for purchase, starting on the 19th of this month, is priced at $2 and is expected to close on the same day it opens, as sentiments towards it are very positive.
SOS is projected by IC Insider.com to produce earnings of 40 cents per share for 2018 and is expected to benefit from the increased exposure leading up to the listing and the continuing exposure post listing, giving them an added advantage over the competition. Medical Disposables sits second spot and Caribbean Producers is in at the third spot. CAC 2000 moved into the TOP 10 with the price having fallen to $6.57 by the end of the week.
The inclusion of SOS and CAC 2000 means that Lasco Distributors and Lasco Finance have been edged out of the Top listing. Express Catering that goes to market on July 12, is priced at a level placing them well outside the top listing.
In the main market Sagicor Group fell to $30 by week end and helped it into the TOP 10 lists edging out Grace Kennedy in the process.

Jamaica stock market plunged on Friday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market had a big hit on Friday as declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones, 2 to 1 as investors marked prices of several stocks sharply down leading to a fall of more than 5,000 points in the all Jamaica composite Index.
At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index plunged 5,207.13 points to close at 254,236.40, the JSE Market Index dived 4,744.29 points to 231,638.15 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 2.61 points to close at 175.65.
At the close of trading, 27 securities changed hands in the main market, with 1 trading in the US dollar market, and 1 in bond market. Activity led to 7 stocks advancing and 13 declining. The main market ended with 3,946,660 units valued at $78,337,785 changing hands compared to 1,498,592 units valued at $27,780,303 at the close on Thursday. Palace jumps $50 to $550 on Thursday

Palace Amusement hit a record of $550 on Thursday.

Palace Amusement stock jumped by $50 to close at an all-time high of $550, with only 143 shares trading, the big price movement would have little effect on market index. The next largest movement was Carreras with a fall of $3 as it pulled back from the record close on Wednesday.

Carreras climbed to a 52 weeks’ high of $92 on Wednesdaay.
