Scotia Group pushes Indices

After 90 minutes of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, 15 securities traded JSE Intra trd 2-07-15.xlsxwith 3 stocks rising and 4 declining. A total volume of just over 442,125 shares have changed hands.
The all Jamaican Composite index inched up 401.21 to 109,707.08 points, JSE Combined Index put on 335.46 to reach 101,269.39 points, JSE Index is now at 99,100.86 points after adding 358.94 points and Junior Market Index fell to 895.87, down by 0.32 points.
The most noticeable trades so far are, Scotia Group that traded at $24.95 to gain 44 cents with 106,700 shares, Cable & Wireless traded 243,298 units at 46 cents, Pan Jamaican shed 40 cents to $61.10 with 22,520 shares trading and Gleaner traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $1.50.

Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended commenced the start of July with strong showing as Scotia Group climbed $1.25 to help push the main indices strongly upwards and pushing one time in trading the All Jamaica Composite index over 2,000 points.
Trading ended with 12 stocks rising, 7 declining as 29 securities changed hands and ending in 12,250,815 units trading, valued at $88,380,669 and 3 stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high in all market segments. The main market closed with 6 stocks advancing to 3 falling.
The JSE Market Index declined 1,470.77 points to 98,741.92 the JSE All Jamaican Composite index gained 1,643.93 points to close at 109,305.87 but JSE sum 1-7-15the JSE combined index rose 1,218.10 points to end at 101,216.67 thanks to gains in the junior market offsetting declines in the main market.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator was showing a poor reading of only 6 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 7 with offers that were lower, a deterioration over the ratio of 10 to 6 on Tuesday.
In trading, Cable & Wireless had 278,936 units changing hands to close 1 cent higher at 46 cents. Caribbean Cement had only 3,410 units trading at $5.70 after shedding 30 cents, Carreras lost 79 cents in trading just 27,687 shares to close at $48.21. Desnoes and Geddes traded at $7.55 with 42,504 shares, Gleaner ended with 13,000 shares changing hands to gain 8 cents, for a 52 weeks’ high of $1.48, Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents to reach $64 while 132,737 shares changed hands. Kingston Wharves traded just 1,000 shares and shed 55 cents in closing at $6.60, JSE fn-Qts 1-7-15National Commercial Bank in trading 25,835 shares, to close unchanged at $29.04, Pan Jamaican Investment had 21,147 shares changing hands at $61.50, Pulse Investments traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of 70 cents after adding 15 cents with 9,000 shares trading. Proven Investments ended with 366,320 ordinary shares trading at 21.2 US cents, up from US$21, Sagicor Group gained just 1 cent with 147,788 units trading, to end at $13.01 after trading as high as $14.50, a new 52 weeks’ high and Scotia Group that traded 10,505 shares to close at $24.50 after trading at $25 and as low as $23.25 to gain $1.25.

All Jamaica Index now up 1,689 points

After 60 minutes of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, 24 securities traded JSE Intra trd 1-07-15-up.xlsxwith 10 stocks rising compared to just 3 earlier and 5 declining the same as at 10.30 am. A total volume of just over 1 million shares have changed hands.
The all Jamaican Composite index inched up 1,689.49 to 109,351.43 points, JSE Combined Index put on 1,270.82 to 101,269.39 points, JSE Index is now at 98,782.68 points after adding 1,511.53 points and Junior Market Index fell to 897.77, down by 17 points.
The most noticeable trades so far are, Scotia Group that traded at $24.50 to gain $1.25 but with limited volume, Lasco Distributors 27,966 shares at $1.69, Lasco Financial Services 38,764 units at $1.81, Lasco Manufacturing 110,000 shares at $1.45 and Supreme Ventures traded at $3.90 to add 50 cents.

The all Jamaican Composite index inched up 400.20 to 108,062.14 points, JSE Combined Index put on 154.06 to 100,152.63 points, JSE Index is now at 97,629.20 points after adding 358.05 points and Junior Market Index fell to 894.54, down by 20.23 points.

Activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended after major disruption to trading with the JSE suffering technical disruptions for the second day in a week. Trading ended with 10 stocks rising, 8 declining as 25 securities changed hands and ending in 1,461,974 units <trading, valued at $16,575,879 and 2 stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high in all market segments. The main market closed with 6 stocks advancing to 3 falling.
The JSE Market Index declined 159.12 points to 97,271.15 the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 177.86 points to close at 107,661.94 but the JSE combined index fell just 13.51 points to end at 99,998.57 thanks to JSE sum 30-6-15rvgains in the junior market offsetting declines in the main market.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator was showing a poor reading of 10 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 6 with offers that were lower, an improvement over the ratio on Monday of 5 to 5. In trading, Cable & Wireless had 200,000 units changing hands to close at 45 cents but looking better than for weeks with bid at 46 cents to buy 201,436 while the offers at 50 cents declined leaving only 315,000 units at the price. With the company reporting profits from operations of $186 million in the March quarter from revenues of $6 billion, the highest in a March quarter since 2007, investors may be quietly going after the stock. The company confirmed that the quarter had some business to business sales in the revenue figure which helped to push improvement up by 29 percent. JSE fn qts 30-6-15 Caribbean Cement had 131,225 units trading at $6 after adding 50 cents, Carreras gained 70 cents in trading just 2,382 shares to close at $49. Desnoes and Geddes traded at $7.55 with 54,724 shares, Gleaner ended with 65,885 shares changing hands to gain 11 cents, for a 52 weeks’ high of $1.40. Jamaica Broilers fell 59 cents in trading 7,410 units to end at $5.41, National Commercial Bank in trading 20,960 shares, to close at $29.04, Pan Jamaican Investment had 18,780 shares changing hands 50 cents higher at $61.50. Radio Jamaica ended with 124,000 shares trading at $3.50, Proven Investments ended with 51,900 ordinary share trading at 21 US cents, Sagicor Group gained 45 cents with 22,385 units trading, to end at $13, but had 1 million units on sale at $13 at the close and Proven 8% preference share traded 155,695 units at $5.

JSE having technical issues

The Jamaica Stock Exchange is having technical issues, as a result we are unable to get the live feed. Reports are that only 6 stocks have traded since the market opened on Tuesday around 11AM.
The Exchange had major issues last week when trading commenced shortly before 12 noon and closed at 3 pm.

Grace Kennedy ended with 21,158 units at $63.50 by dropping 50 cents, Jamaica Broilers gained 50 cents in trading 7,605 units to end at $6, JMMB Group added 10 cents in trading 400,538 shares and ended at $7.50. Mayberry had 36,805 shares trading, to end at a $2.52, National Commercial Bank fell 47 cents while trading 99,459 shares, to close at $29.03, Sagicor Group fell 15 cents with 485,685 units trading, to end at $12.55, but only after it traded during the day at a 52 weeks’ high of $13.10, Sagicor Real Estate Fund saw trading in 6,053 units but lost 40 cents in closing at $7.30, Scotia Group had 11,027 units trading 4 cents up at $23.25.

The all Jamaican Composite index inched up 179.45 to 108,283.79 points, JSE Combined Index put on 84.53 to 100,321.40 points, JSE Index is now at 97,827.49 points after adding 160.54 points and Junior Market Index fell to 892.53, down by 7.37 points.
The most noticeable trades so far are KLE with a small volume but ended down to 65 cents the lowest price it has traded at to date, Gleaner Company with 5,600 units at $1.29 with a 10 cents gain, for a 52 weeks’ high and Sagicor Group traded at $13. Paramount Trading has a bid at $6 versus the last traded price of $5.11 as investors try to find where supply may be.

National Commercial Bank rose 40 cents while trading 137,540 shares to close at $29.40, Proven Investments traded 132,278 share to close at 19 US cents, Sagicor Group inched up 9 cents with 105,691 units trading, to end at $12.70, Sagicor Real Estate Fund saw trading in 101,000 units but lost 30 cents in closing at $7.70 and Scotia Investments climbed $1 to $28.50 with 677,500 units, most of the stock traded at $2.
