The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended with two new 52 weeks’ high as Grace Kennedy closed at $92 and Jamaica Producers traded up to $40 with the announcement of a 5 for stock bonus to be considered at its upcoming annual General meeting. The junior market saw Cargo Handlers trading at a new all-time high at the close. The market closed with 39 securities changing hands, accounting for just 4,021,654 units valued at $52,808,843, in all market segments.
The junior market accounted for 2,139,183 shares valued at $12,635,596 of the total level traded.
Investors pushed the price of 21 stocks in the overall market up, 8 down, including 5 stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market as two stocks in the main market hit new highs.
The JSE Market Index moved up 1,243.66 points to end at 153,304.61. The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,390.88 points to close at 170,282.32 and the JSE combined index climbed 1,481.01 points, to close at 164,013.11.

Ciboney traded 98,000 units and gained 2 cents to close at 18 cents. The price of 1834 Investments gained 9 cents to close at $1.10, with 25,886 units trading, Grace Kennedy traded 1,022 units and gained $1 closed at $92, Hardware and Lumber traded 10,704 shares to rise by $2.50 to $18.50, Jamaica Broilers lost 20 cents to end at $14.40 while trading 26,842 shares. Jamaica Producers jumped $5.01 in trading 76,138 shares at $40, Kingston Wharves closed with a rise of 28 cents to close at $11.80, after trading 2,728 units. National Commercial Bank traded 14,487 shares, to close at $40.25. Pan Jamaican Investment closed trading at $121 as 18,273 shares changed hands, Radio Jamaica lost 1 cent in trading 5,000 shares at $1.31, Sagicor Group rose by 20 cents and ended with 1,270,216 shares changing hands at $22.50. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 15,542 shares and ended at $10, Scotia Group rose 50 cents to close at $30.50, while 43,041 units changed hands, Seprod traded 14,202 shares with the price rising 15 cents to $16.90. Supreme Ventures closed at $5.15 with 112,186 shares changing hands, after losing 9 cents and Proven Investments preference share, traded 24,509 units at $5, with a loss of 2 cents.
JSE volume remains low on Friday
Trading volumes remained low on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday even as the active number of securities remain at elevated levels. The market closed with 35 securities changing hands, accounting for just 3,475,337 units valued at $40,616,397, in all market segments. The junior market had 2,388,762 shares valued at $2,388,762 trading.
Investors pushed the price of 13 stocks in the overall market up, 13 down, including 3 stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market. The JSE Market Index moved down by 192.18 points to end at 153,690.27. The all Jamaica Composite Index declined by 214.93 points to close at 170,713.62 and the JSE combined index slipped 54.76 points, to close at 164,532.54.

Pan Jamaican Investment climbed back $1.70 to close trading at $122.70 but with just 400 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 3 cents in trading 70,612 shares at $1.30, Sagicor Group ended with 71,400 shares changing hands, fell 20 cents, to end at $22.30. Scotia Group closed with a fall of $2.70 to end at $30 while 81,365 units changed hands, Scotia Investments fell $1.09 to $25 with 12,880 shares changing hands, Sterling Investments lost 92 cents and closed at $11.98 with 24,800 shares trading. Supreme Ventures closed at $5 with 16,339 shares changing hands, after falling 29 cents and Proven Investments traded with a gain of 2 US cents to 20 US cents with 49,000 shares trading.
Sharp dip in JSE volume on Thursday

Pan Jamaican Investment pulled back $3.94 to close trading at $121 with 3,969 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica rose 15 cents in trading 33,600 shares at $1.27, Sagicor Group ended with 201,084 shares changing hands, and gained 30 cents, to end at $22.50. Scotia Group closed with a gain of $1.70 to end at $32.70 while 20,246 units changed hands, Seprod lost 50 cents and closed at $17.50 with 21,667 shares trading, Supreme Ventures closed at $5.39 with 41,000 shares changing hands after rising 59 cents and Proven Investments traded at 18 US cents with 21,329 shares.
JSE reverses large early losses – Wednesday
Volumes traded were moderate in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange in the main market on Wednesday, but the indices that slipped close to 1,000 points in the first hour of trading recovered to suffer a mild declined at the end.
The market closed with 39 securities changed hands, accounting for 3,600,852 units valued at $56,805,624, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 952,289 units of the shares traded, valued at $5,433,865. Investors pushed the price of 16 stocks in the overall market up, 12 were pushed down including 9 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market.
The JSE Market Index fell 152.90 points to end at 151,348.17. The all Jamaica Composite Index slipped 171.01 points to close at 168,094.29 and the JSE combined index declined 61.78 points, to close at 162,711.68.

Pan Jamaican Investment did not trade but the bid moved up to $99, a dollar above the last selling price, after the company announced a 5 for 1 stock split, Radio Jamaica traded 154,400 shares to end at $1.10. Sagicor Group ended with 22,092 shares changing hands and lost 10 cents to end at $22.90, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 1,500 shares to close at $10 after declining by 10 cents, Salada Foods traded 6,000 shares to end at $8.80 after trading at an intraday low of $7.50. Scotia Group closed at $31 while 6,144 units changed hands, Scotia Investments jumped $1.44 and ended trading 37,876 shares to close at $27.44, Seprod fell $1 to close at $17 with 1,500 units changing hands and Supreme Ventures closed at $5.49 with 27,617 shares changing hands.
JSE drops 2,100 points on Monday
At the close of trading, 12 stocks in the overall market gained, 15 declined including 5 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market.

National Commercial Bank fell 23 cents while trading 27,361 shares to close at $39.77, Pan Jamaican Investment jumped $3 with 36,922 shares trading at $97, Radio Jamaica traded 366,763 shares and dropped 9 cents, to end at $1.10, Sagicor Group ended with 16,250 shares changing hands with a loss of 31 cents at $22.69. Scotia Group dropped $2.49 to close at $30.50 while 16,127 units changed hands, Scotia Investments ended trading 1,000 shares and gained 80 cents to close at $26, Supreme Ventures fell 8 cents and closed at $5.27 with 15,698 shares changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 113,178 units at 19 US cents, down from 20 US cents. JMMB 6% US preference share lost 5 cents in trading 50,000 units at US$1.05, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 3,612,600 units at $1.05 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 533,800 units at $2.15.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange racked up big index losses in the early morning session on Friday, with all Jamaica Composite Index dropping 1,680.04 points but closed in a positive territory at the end. A total of 35 securities changed hands, accounting for 3,857,762 units valued at $55,590,365, in all market segments.
The junior market accounted for 1,443,534 units of the shares traded, valued at $5,505,458.
At the close of trading, 11 stocks in the overall market gained, 10 declined including 3 of the stocks rising and 4 declining, from the junior market.
