JSE jumps higher on Monday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed Monday with heavy trading in Cable & Wireless, with 4,165,794 units being crossed traded by stockbroker Scotia Investments, the price rose 9 cents, to close at $1.35. Pan Jamaican Investment Trust closing with 2,427,860 shares trading, with a loss of 10 cents at $27, while Grace Kennedy chipped in with 305,550 units, with the price dropping $9, to close at $116. Grace traded 109,450 units between $124.95 and $125.
Stocks traded amount to 9,084,743 units valued at $145,603,514, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for 775,816 shares, valued at $4,015,547 of all trades.
The market closed with prices of 10 stocks in the overall market rising, 12 declining, including 3 stocks rising and 2 declining, from the junior market.

The JSE Market Index gained 1,108.10 points to end at 160,840.70. The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,239.29 points to close at 178,710.47 and the JSE combined index climbed 978.39 points, to end at 172,282.81.

At the end of market activities, demand for Caribbean Cement has melted away as the price of oil on the world market heats up, with the stock price falling 80 cents to close at $21.20 after trading just 2,965 units. Bids for Cement are few with only 13,000 units being bought down to $19. Carreras added 1 cent in trading 33,000 shares and closed at $62.81. The price of 1834 Investments fell 4 cents in trading 77,834 units at $1.16, Jamaica Broilers traded 12,880 units changing hands to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers traded 10,266 shares at $48, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost $1.02 in trading 2,000 shares to close at $19, JMMB Group declined by 20 cents in trading 109,800 units to close at $9.80.

National Commercial Bank closed with 304,003 shares changing hands at $42, Radio Jamaica had 78,200 shares trading but fell 11 cents to $1.74, Sagicor Group ended with 265,658 shares changing hands after rising 11 cents to $23.01, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 38,950 shares and gained 5 cents to close at $10.15. Scotia Group with 274,855 units to close at $30.11, Scotia Investments traded 27,072 shares and gained $1 to close at $26 and Supreme Ventures lost just 1 cent in trading 164,840 units at $4.75.

Stocks traded amount to 9,658,526 units valued at $241,159,958, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for 721,925 shares, valued at $3,110,379 of all trades.

The market closed with prices of 12 stocks in the overall market rising, 13 declining, including 6 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market. At the close 2 stocks ended at a new 52 weeks’ highs and 1 at a low.
The JSE Market Index gained 92.63 points to end at 159,639.97. The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 103.60 points to close at 177,471.18 and the JSE combined index climbed 184.76 points, to end at 171,119.66.

Grace hits new high again – Thursday

Grace Kennedy traded at a new closing high of $125 on Thursday.

Grace Kennedy jumped by $7 to close at a new 52 weeks high of $125 with 196,201 shares, on a day when 38 securities changed hands in the overall Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday. Jamaica Producers jumped to a new high on Wednesday

On a day when rising stocks outnumbered decliners on the Jamaica Stock Exchange when trading ended on Wednesday, new 52 weeks highs were recorded by Jamaica Producers at $48 by gaining $1.50 and ISP Finance in the junior market. Overall, 32 securities changed hands on Wednesday as the prices of 14 stocks in the overall market rose, 10 declined, including 3 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market. Stocks traded hit 10,935,542 units, valued at $64,376,818, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for 9,846,087 shares, valued at $46,610,748 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index gained 770.88 points to end at 159,719.08. The all Jamaica Composite Index climbed 862.14 points to close at 177,456.06 and the JSE combined index rose 622.59 points, to end at 171,033.62.

National Commercial Bank traded 51,295 shares at $41.12 after shedding 40 cents, Pan Jamaican Investment Trust traded 43,090 shares to end at $27. Radio Jamaica closed trading with 3,000 shares with the price rising 23 cents to end at $1.75, Sagicor Group ended with 169,846 shares changing hands after gaining 30 cents to $23, Scotia Group dropped 59 cents to close at $31.41 with 98,123 units changing hands. Jamaica Producers climbed to a new 52 weeks high of $46.50 by gaining 50 cents. The volume and value of stocks traded rose above the recent low levels to hit 6,767,711 units valued at $80,226,364, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for 2,358,831 shares, valued at $14,770,636 of all trades.
Overall, 40 securities changed hands on Tuesday as the prices of 8 stocks in the overall market rose, 14 declined, including 3 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market. Two stocks ended at a new 52 weeks’ high, with one of them being in the junior market.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended higher at the close of trading on Friday, with all major market indices recording positive movements, while the volume and value of stocks traded rose above the recent low levels. Supreme Ventures was the dominant trade with 3,590,303 units to close unchanged at $4.50 and 138 Student living with 1 million shares closed at $4.50 after gaining by 10 cents.

The junior market accounted for 2,086,923 shares, valued at $9,158,507 of the overall trades.

JSE cuts sharp morning losses

Pan Jam rose to new 52 weeks’ closing high of $27 on Wednesday.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange lost ground at the end of trading on Wednesday, with the main market major indices declining and the junior market Index moving higher, while the volume of stocks traded, fell to low levels in a moderate day of trading activity.
The main market was recovering from big declines in the early morning session, with the all Jamaica Composite Index dropping 948.35 points, the JSE Market Index losing 847.97 points and the JSE combined index dipping 715.15 points.

At the end of market activities, Barita Investments traded 8,661 units at $3.08, Berger Paints traded 12,200 shares with the price falling 33 cents, to end at $4.47, Cable & Wireless rose 4 cents, in closing at $1.42 after trading 25,500 units, Caribbean Cement traded 90,330 shares and closed at $24. Carreras had 3,780 units trading, to close with a rise of 30 cents, at $65. Ciboney traded 111,000 units but lost 6 cents to end at 17 cents, the price of 1834 Investments traded at $1.40 with just 1,000 units changing hands, and rose by 17 cents. Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents in trading 1,000 units, to close at a 52 weeks high of $120.50, Jamaica Broilers ended with loss of 66 cents but with just 402 units changing hands at $13.84. Jamaica Producers traded 54,000 shares to end at $44.01, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 20 cents trading 360 shares, to close at $21, JMMB Group traded 8,227 units as the price fell 10 cents to $9.90. National Commercial Bank traded 25,010 shares, to close with a loss of 49 cents at $41.51, there was a $1 fall, in the price of 138 Student Living, to close with 12,685 shares changing hands at $4.50, Pan Jamaican Investment Trust traded 75,609 shares and ended at 52 week’s closing high of $27. Radio Jamaica closed trading with 105,416 shares with the price falling 30 cents to end at $1.70, Sagicor Group ended with 5,000 shares changing hands after falling 11 cents at $22.89, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed at $10.12 with 21,861 shares changing hands. Scotia Group rose by $1 to close at $32 as 11,641 units changed hands, Seprod traded 10,000 units, gained 10 cents to end at $16.90, Supreme Ventures traded 22,570 units to close at $4.50 and JMMB 7.5% preference share lost 1 cent, to close at $1.03, while trading 95,300 shares.

At the end of trading, CAC 2000 rose by 5 cents and closed at $6.55 with 5,000 shares changing hands, Caribbean Cream gained 5 cents to end at $4.55, after trading 93,680 shares, Caribbean Producers traded 2,500 shares, to close at $4.50, Consolidated Bakeries traded 4,270 shares with a loss of 2 cents, to close at $2. C2W Music traded 18,000 shares and gained 3 cents, to end at 43 cents, Dolphin Cove traded 79,515 units and lost 20 cents to end at $11, Honey Bun fell by 5 cents in trading 183,042 units at $6.95 after trading at a new high of $7.51 earlier in the day. Jamaican Teas traded 12,500 shares and closed at $3.90.

Jetcon Corporation had 10,000 units changing hands at $2.65 after falling by 10 cents, Key Insurance traded 5,000 shares and lost 25 cents to close at $2.50, KLE Group closed with 1,500 units changing hands at $1.20, having lost 16 cents, Lasco Distributors fell 49 cents in trading 472,645 units to end at $7.50. Lasco Financial closed with a rise of 1 cent at $3.16 with 195,440 shares changing hands while Lasco Manufacturing traded 116,110 shares and dropped 15 cents to close at $4.75, tTech traded just 28,351 units at $4.05 after shedding 7 cents and Eppley 8.5% preference share traded 42,500 shares at $6 but lost 10 cents.
