Mayberry buys more Lasco Financial shares on Thursday as the stock traded at an all-time high of $1.68.

Lasco Financial Services traded at a new all- time high of $1.68 during the trading session on Thursday. Fairly heavy trading in the stock within minutes of the close, saw 1,483,076 units changing hands and the price slipping to $1.57 for a new closing high, two days after Mayberry bough 20 percent of the company and after the company reported profits of $190 million or 15.5 cents per share for the year to March. Mayberry bought additional shares for their own account by way of crosses towards the end of trading, leaving no stock on offer at the close.
Trading ended on the Junior Market with 9 securities changing hands, and ended with a total of 1,913,100 units valued at $2,968,161. The JSE Junior Market Index gained 1.68 points to close at 870.40, with the price of 3 stocks advancing and 3 declining and 1 closing at 52 weeks’ high.

Mayberry Investments bought 244,505,426 shares in Lasco Investments over the stock exchange floor today to be the dominant trade on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Lascelles Chin was the major seller with 218,797,608 units, leaving approximately 160 million units directly in his name.
Joel Izquierrdo Gonzalez who had 14,515,000 shares seems to have disposed of his holdings as well, Mayberry crossed another 10 million units to cement the major part of the trade for the day. Chin confirmed the sale and indicated that Mayberry now has 20 percent and it’s a win, win proposition for both entities. Lasco Financial has 1,228,102,990 Ordinary shares of no par value that are issued. Lasco just reported full year reulsts with profit of $189.5 million just up from $178.2 million in 2014, the company reported just $10 million profit in the last quarter to March versus $41 million in the same period in 2014.Mayberry previously owned around 39 percent of Access Financial Services which they divested last year for approximately $1 billion. Some of the funds are being invested in this and other entities. It could well be that Mayberry will eventually buy more shares in the company.

Lasco Distributors traded 289,032 shares, 15 cents lower, at $1.55, Lasco Financial Services finished trading with 244508476 units in total between $1.28 and $1.45 to settle at $1.30, there were 170,033 shares of Lasco Manufacturing traded to close lower by 5 cent at $1.25 and 8,000 Paramount Trading shares traded at $3.80 for a 4 cents gain.

At the close of the market Sagicor Real Estate Fund had a bid at $8.30 compared with the last sale price of $8, but only 100 units were on the bid and only one offer was posted at $10. Investors are responding to reported strong increase in profit flowing from primarily form the profit of the hotel acquired in 2014, but they may not be taking into consideration the seasonal flows of revenues and profit in the industry that see strong inflows in the winter months and lower amounts in the other months.

The market closed with 4,856,849 units trading, valued at $34,575,790, in all market segments.
The JSE Market Index lost just 78.06 points to 98,270.35, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declined 87.29 points to close at 108,589.10 and the JSE combined index dropped by 142.03 points to close at 100,587.96.

In the first hour and a half of trading Tuesday, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the all Jamaican Composite Index was once more over the 110,000 market. It gained 322.01 points to 110,048.85 and the JSE Index was at 99,578.98, with a gain of 288.02 points.
By the end of trading, the market gave up all the gains and much more as the market continues to struggle to move away from the resistance level which it crossed over recently. The JSE Market Index lost 939.55 points to 98,348.41, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 1,050.45 points to 108,676.39 and the JSE combined index dropped 1,010.08 points to close at 100,729.99.
Activity, resulted in the prices of 10 stocks rising, 12 declining as 35 securities changed hands, ending in 9,192,775 units trading, valued at $92,864,773, in all market segments. Only three new highs were recorded in the overall market, with Jamaica Broilers ended at $5.49 and Jamaica Stock Exchange at $3.55 as new 52 weeks closing highs in the main market.

National Commercial Bank had 113,179 units trading between $29.50 and $30.20, the closing price, as 20 cents was added. JSE fn Qts 19-5-15 Sagicor Group traded down to $11 during the day but ended up with a decline of 1 cent at $11.99, at the end with 5,150,556 shares, changing hands. Mayberry sold more than 3.5 million units mostly at $11 from their inventory and Sagicor Investments was another major buying and selling broker of the stock. Scotia Group put on 70 cents to $26 with 8,794 units trading, Seprod had 136,611 units changing hands at $18.50, and Supreme Ventures traded 116,465 shares between $3.89 and $3.95 but ended at $3.90 and Proven Investments slipped by half of a cent in trading 61,517 units at 20.5 US cents.

The Junior market closed at a new record to start off the week with 13 securities trading, with the price of stocks advancing and declining and closing at 52 weeks’ high. the most for some time, and ended with 1,683,746 units changing hands valued at $22,509,881 with Access Financial accounting for the bulk of the trade with Mayberry Investments selling 1,257,938 at a new high of $18, valued $21,452,426.
In closing at $18, Access is back at the IPO price before a ten for 1 spilt putting at the equivalent of $180 had the split not take place no other stock has performed so well on the Jamaica stock market in recent time. The stock was issued at $18 per share, making those who held on to see a 900 percent gain on their investment, plus dividends to add to the gains and the company is yet to stop growing.

There were only three stocks declining on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, while 18 stocks rose, compared with the last traded prices on Thursday, but the main market indices dropped more than 500 points as Scotia Group fell back to $25.16. The market closed with 19 stocks rising, 8 of which closed at 52 weeks’ high, 3 declining as 28 securities changed hands, well down from the 41 that traded on Thursday. In the end a total of 5,475,513 units valued at $56,463,857 traded, in all market segments.
The rally started last year fuelled by falling money market rates with Treasury bill rate falling from over 9 percent to below 7 percent. The current rally is be fuelled by rising profits from the majority of companies reporting first quarter results.
The JSE Market Index lost 507.33 points to 98,992.10, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index fell 567.23 points to close at 109,396.05 and the JSE combined index declined 237.32 points to close at 101,419.02.

The Junior Market surged to a new high with the JSE Junior Market Index jumping 25.80 points to close at 892.20, leaving the previous resistance level of 840 points and is now poised to be heading to the next resistance around 1,000 points with the market having broken out of the range it’s been in since late 2011.

Stocks trading in the junior market are, JM qts 15-5-15 Caribbean Cream jumped 15 cents or 14.29 percent to close at a new 52 weeks’ high $1.20 with 232,000 units changing hands, Caribbean Producers with 1,141,831 shares trading 22 cents higher at $3.10 after trading at $2.88, Dolphin Cove ending with just 100 shares changing hands to close higher by 55 cents at $10.75, for a new 52 weeks’ high but the bid to buy the stock is well down at $9.20 with offer at $11. General Accident Insurance concluded with 368,166 shares changing hands, closed unchanged at $2.08 but ended with a bid for 2,432 units at $2.18. Lasco Distributors traded 92,301 shares trading, 15 cent higher, at $1.65, Lasco Financial Services finished trading with 386,539 units changing hands as the price slipped 4 cent, to $1.31. There was dealing in 87,021 Lasco Manufacturing’s shares as the stock traded 11 cents up to $1.45.
