Bulls lurching round JSE

The market traded with bullish tendency today, National Commercial Bank traded as high as $24 for a new 52 weeks’ intraday high, but ended at $22 at the close. Desnoes & Geddes closed at a new 52 weeks’ high of $5.50.
JSE close 26-2-15The all Jamaica composite index closed with a gain of 1,031.22 points to 89,437.94 points the highest levels since June 2013. The JSE Index closed with a 922.34 points increase at 81,141.21. The market now targets the 92,000 points resistance level on the all Jamaica which should be taken out by the end March with the next one after being around 97,000 points.

Investors can get some indication of supply and demand posted in the market with the immediate volumes on the bid to buy or the amounts on offer, at the disclosed prices. D&G at new 52 weeks’ high

JSE intr 1030-26-2-15D&G traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $5.30 in the morning session on Thursday with 30,000 shares. The all Jamaican index is up 462.30 points at 88,869.02 points so far.

J$ holding against US dollar – Wednesday

Inflows of foreign exchange into the system continued to be buoyant on Wednesday with slightly more buying than selling of foreign currencies by dealers. Purchases of all currencies amounting to US$42,869,906 compared with the US$43,926,359, on Tuesday. Selling was for the equivalent of US$41,114,060 versus US$42,891,279 sold on Tuesday.
FX sum 25-2-15In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$36,345,296 compared to US$38,670,944 on Tuesday. The buying rate for the US dollar lost 5 cents to $115.15 and US$38,634,332 was sold versus US$39,072,048 on Tuesday, the selling rate put on 1 cent to $115.60. The Canadian dollar buying rate rose 95 cents to $91.28 with dealers buying C$1,526,264, and selling C$1,396,081, at an average rate that rose $1.12 to $92.37. The rate for buying the British Pound dipped 14 cents to $176.12 for the purchase of £3,346,852, while £410,120 was sold, at an average rate of $178.12, a fall of 25 cents. At the end of trading it took J$131.05 to purchase the Euro, 20 cents less than on Tuesday , according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$128.64 for 7 cents less than on Tuesday . Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$195,963 while the equivalent of US$732,265, was sold.
FX HL 25-2-15Highs & Lows| The highest buying rate for the US dollar declined 15 cents to $115.80 and the lowest buying rate remained at $94.36. The highest selling rate fell 21 cents to $120.91. The lowest selling rate fell $3.61 to $90.75. The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar rose 50 cents to $93, the lowest buying rate dropped 16 cents to $72.38. The highest selling rate lost 24 cents to $95.26 and the lowest selling rate fell 20 cents to $87.20. The highest buying rate for the British Pound, rose 30 cents to $179.40. The lowest buying rate climbed 46 cents to $142.76, the highest selling rate dipped 29 cents to $183.16 and the lowest selling rate climbed 55 cents to $172.

Gains| Stocks increasing in price at the close are, Agostini’s ending with 2,600 units trading, for a 1 cent gain, to $17.61. Clico Investment Fund traded 8,691 shares valued at $195,721 and advanced by 1 cents to $22.52, National Commercial Bank traded 1,405 shares with a 1 cent rise, to end at a new 52 weeks’ high of $1.22. Scotiabank added 2,948 shares valued at $183,157 to close at $62.13 for a 1 cent gain and Trinidad Cement with 55,100 shares valued at $126,781 traded, gained 1 cent to end at $2.31.
Declines| The stocks declining at the end of trading are, First Citizens Bank trading 327 shares as the price eased by 1 cent to $35.74. Guardian Holdings with 58,187 shares changing hands for a value of $756,795 lost 6 cents to close at $13, Sagicor Financial Corporation traded 400 shares to close with a loss of 1 cent at $5.24
Firm Trades| Ansa Merchant Bank contributed 3,202 shares with a value of $124,558 to close at $38.90.

Gleaner’s big trade on JSE

Gleaner280x150Activity picked up on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday and resulted in the prices of 5 stocks rising, 3 declining as 22 securities changed hands, ending with 47,574,512 units trading, valued at $46,962,041, in all market segments as the Gleaner Company posted the largest trade.
Gleaner Company ended with more than 32 million units valued at $27.36 million trading. Broker, Stocks & Securities played a major role in the trade, with all units sold, executed by them as brokers with buying by MVL Stockbrokers for all but 185,000 units. The trades have removed a major overhang of selling from the market but still leave more selling at the closing price and some offers close to the closing price.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index gained 338.21 points to 80,218.87, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index rose 378.14 points to close at 88,406.72 and the JSE combined index gained 297.60points to close at 82,097.57.

Grace Kennedy closing with 1,286 units changing hands ended with an increase of 51 cents to $60.51, National Commercial Bank finished with 9,350 shares as the price gained 13 cents to end at a new 52 weeks’ high of $22.15, Sagicor Group closing with 13,000 shares to end with an increase of 9 cents to $10.40 and Scotia Group ending with 2,977 shares trading for 20 cents more to $21.
Firm| The stocks in the main market to close without a change in the last traded prices are, Caribbean Cement closing with 10,000 shares trading at $2.85, Carreras ending with 22,192 shares trading at $44.50, Gleaner closing with 32,184,601 shares changing hands at 85 cents. Jamaica Broilers closed with 25,966 shares trading at $4.02, Mayberry Investments had 7,886 units trading at $1.95 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed with 3,200 shares changing hands at $6.70.

Preference| Jamaica Public Service 9.5% preference share traded 881 units at $1,125 and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share ended with 1,460,887 shares changing hands to close $2.

Kremi trades 10.5M shares

Kremi ice cont Activity on the Junior Market closed with 7 securities traded and ending with 11,322,313 units changing hands valued at $8,890,752 as Caribbean Cream was the dominant stock trading. Stocks and Securities sold 10,516,480 of the Caribbean Cream’s shares as the selling broker. Barita Investments bought 10 million of the shares at 74 cents, on behalf of client.
The JSE Junior Market Index declined 2.21 points to close at 713.54. No stock gained on Wednesday, while only 1 declined. At the close of the market, there were 2 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 1 with the offer that was lower. The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with 22 securities trading on Wednesday, accounting for 47,574,512 units valued at $46,962,041. Gleaner company traded over 32 million units at 85 cents each and Caribbean Cream with 10.5 million units between 74 and 76 cents each.
At the end the main indices rose as 5 stocks gained in price.

J$ stable vs US dollar – Tuesday

Inflows of foreign exchange into the system continued to be buoyant on Tuesday with almost equal buying and selling of foreign currencies by dealers. Purchases of all currencies amounting to US$43,926,359 compared with the US$47,161,608, on Monday. Selling was for the equivalent of US$42,891,279 versus US$47,139,887 sold on Monday.
FX sum 24-2-15 In US dollar trading, dealers bought US$38,670,944 compared to US$42,803,483 on Monday. The buying rate for the US dollar put on 12 cents to $115.20 and US$39,072,048 was sold versus US$40,580,251 on Monday, the selling rate remained at $115.59. The Canadian dollar buying rate rose 86 cents to $90.33 with dealers buying C$2,683,965, and selling C$1,674,055, at an average rate that fell $1.72 to $91.25. The rate for buying the British Pound climbed 24 cents to $176.26 for the purchase of £1,519,693, while £1,232,276 was sold, at an average rate of $178.37, up by 63 cents. At the end of trading it took J$131.24 to purchase the Euro, 18 cents less than on Monday, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$128.71 for 38 cents lower than on Monday. Other currencies bought, amounted to the equivalent of US$825,594 while the equivalent of US$596,186, was sold.

The highest selling rate gained 59 cents to $95.50 and the lowest selling rate fell $1.30 to $87.40. The highest buying rate for the British Pound, dropped 30 cents to $179.10. The lowest buying rate fell 21 cents to $142.30, the highest selling rate dipped 27 cents to $183.45 and the lowest selling rate climbed $1.75 to $171.45.

Tuesday’s trading closed with Jamaica Money Market Brokers trading more than 5.1 million units with 5 million being a cross of shares within the company, as in house trade but JMMB also sold shares to the public from in house inventory as well. Otherwise it was a relatively slow day except that trading picked up in the junior market.
At the end of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, the prices of 9 stocks rose, 5 declined as 27 securities changed hands, ending in 7,105,912 units trading, valued at $40,386,959, in all market segments.
Main Market| The JSE Market Index lost only 0.09 points to 79,880.66, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declined by a mere 0.18 points to close at 88,028.58 and the JSE combined index gained 0.69 points to close at 81,799.97.
