Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Monday with 25 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 2,098,509 units valued at $11,226,036 compared to 1,889,929 units valued at $9,948,506 on Friday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 7 securities advanced, 11 declined and 7 remained with the prices unchanged. The Junior Market Index advanced by 27.80 points to close at 2,934.57.
Trading ended with an average of 83,940 units for an average of $449,041 in contrast to 89,997 units for an average of $473,738 on Friday. In contrast, September closed with average of 116,176 units valued at $538,652 for each security traded. Trading ended with 4 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 2 with lower offers.
At the close of the market the volume of stock units changing hands and their last traded price are: Access Financial closing at $42, with 2,311 units, AMG Packaging trading 30 cents higher at $3.50, with 15,000 shares. 13 stocks rose on Monday

In the main activity, Barita Investments rose by 25 cents to $8, with 4,800 units, Berger Paints ended with a loss of $3 at $12, with 12,500 shares, Cable & Wireless ended trading 1 cent higher at $1.11, with 479,762 stock units, Caribbean Cement rose $1.2 to $28.50, with 17,475 shares, Carreras surged $1.35 to a new 52 weeks high of $13.50, with 544,289 stocks units, Grace Kennedy ended at $43, trading 1,307,292 shares, Jamaica Broilers closed with a loss of 10 cents at $18.50, with 961,908 stocks units traded. Jamaica Producers concluded trading at $15.50, with 313,406 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange settled 50 cents higher at $8, with 104,300 shares, JMMB Group traded with a gain of 75 cents at $23, with 55,994 units, Kingston Wharves ended with a loss of $1 at $31, with 177,500 stocks units, NCB Financial had 166,223 shares changing hands after falling $1.40 to end at $86.60. In the US dollar market, Margaritaville Turks lost 2 US cents to end at 30 US cents with 1,000 shares, Productive Business Solution US ordinary share closed with a rise of 0.50 cent at 58 US cents while trading 2,541 units, Proven Investments US ordinary share lost 1.99 US cents to close at 22 US cents, while, exchanging 1,579 units.

JSE All Jamaican jumps to 291,661 points

JSE Index surged by 3,007.04 points to close at 265,736.18 with 13,618,629 units valued at $432,506,372 changing hands in the main market, compared to 5,005,392 units valued at 111,349,381 on Friday. In the US dollar market JSE US dollar Equity Index dipped 8.15 points to 176.81.
Trading accounted for 5,120 units valued at US$2,124 and brings the total for the markets to J$432,780,357.
Trading ended with an average of 504,394 units for an average of $16,018,755 in contrast to 217,626 units for an average of $4,841,277 on Friday. September closed with average of 283,480 units valued at $3,630,990 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading in the main and US dollar markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows a very strong 7 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices, down from 14 on Friday and 4 with lower offers, the same as Friday.
Scotia Investments has been delisted with Scotia Group set to pay out minority shareholders the proceeds of the acquisition on October 3.

Junior market suffers big fall – Friday

The Junior Market Index suffered a big fall of 52.63 points on Friday to close at 2,906.77 and down 192.13 points or 6 percent for September due mainly to a fall of 42 cent in the price of Express Catering.
Trading ended on Friday with 21 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 1,889,929 units valued at $9,948,506 compared to 538,080 units valued at $2,509,546 on Thursday.
At the close of market activities, at of 8 securities advanced with the last price, 6 declined and 7 remained with prices unchanged.
Trading ended with an average of 89,997 units for an average of $473,738 in contrast to 29,893 units for an average of $139,419 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 116,176 units valued at $538,652 compared to $117,485 valued at $541,898 previously. In contrast, August closed with average of 234,437 units valued at $1,295,260 for each security traded.

TTSE trading drops sharply – Friday

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange closed on Friday with 11 securities changing hands compared to 13 on Thursday with just 83,803 shares traded at $1,209,765 compared to Wednesday’s 230,908 units valued at $2,243,148.
At the close, 6 stocks advanced, 1 declined and 4 were unchanged as the Composite Index advanced 3.33 points to 1,241.60 and is up marginally for September but up 2.65 percent for the year to date. The All T&T Index rose 0.56 points to 1,782.18 but is down from 1,791.21 at the start of the month to close the month 2.84 percent down from the start of 2-017. The Cross Listed Index gained 0.84 points to close at 94.18 leading to a gain for the month of 1.41 points and is up 20.48 percent for the year to date.

Gains| The last traded prices of the securities rising and volume changing hands are Clico Investment gained 1 cent to close at $21.51 trading 5,518 shares, First Citizens closed at $32, with gains of 25 cents exchanging 6,292 shares, Republic Financial Holdings gained 11 cents to $101.90 with 1,395 units and Sagicor Financial trading 14 cents higher at $8.15 with 1,667 units. Scotiabank rose 1 cent to $58.06 with 6,298 shares valued at $365,728 changing hands and Scotia Investments closed 5 cents higher at $2.30 exchanging 8,990 shares.
Losses| West Indian Tobacco lost 4 cents to settle at a 2 weeks’ low of $124.96 with 240 units changing hands.
Firm Trades| The securities remaining unchanged at last prices trades occurred and volume of changing hands in the market are First Caribbean International Bank that closed at $8.10 with 1,500 units, NCB Financial trading 45,387 shares at $5.10, Trinidad Cementexchanging 4,066 units at $4.20 and Trinidad & Tobago NGL that ended at $23 with 2,540 units.

JSE stocks jump again

Scotia Group climbed $2.89 on Friday to help push market indices.

Prices at the close of Friday on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange surged higher leading to big gains in the market indices as 23 securities changed hands with 13 rising, 8 declined and 2 traded firm.
Berger Paints jumped $3.57 to $15 at the close and Scotia Group moved up by $2.89 to end at $48, while Jamaica Producers traded 1.57 million units to be the leading trade.
Main market activity led to 5,005,392 units valued at $111,349,381 trading compared to 11,263,035 units valued at $348,817,467 on Thursday. In the US dollar market trading accounted 30,490 units valued at US$7,315 from just one security, bringing the total trades in both markets to $112,292,958.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index surged 3,477.64 points to 288,360.63.The JSE Index jumped 3,168.52 points to 262,729.14. The JSE US dollar Equities Index eked out a 0.05 points rise to close at 184.96.

The market closed with 21 securities changing hands, 13 advanced, 4 declined and 2 traded firm and 3 trading in the US dollar market. Trading in the main market ended with 11,263,035 units valued at $348,817,467 compared to 4,718,872 units valued at 99,127,989 on Wednesday, while in the US dollar market 595,153 units changed hands carrying a value of US$287,330. Overall trading in both markets came to J$386,170,423, in addition, the NCB Financial 6 percent bond traded 27 million units for a value of $3,542,985,900.
Trading ended with an average of 536,335 units for an average of $16,610,356 in contrast to 188,755 units for an average of $3,965,120 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 286,773 units valued at $3,573,357 and previously 273,638 units valued at an average of $2,921,507.
