Blue Power traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $15 with 8,000 units, to gain $1.30 cents, in early Thursday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Activity picked up on the last trading day for June, with three stocks trading over 100,000 units and two over 90,000 shares. The majors suffered losses but the juniors recorded gains in the session.
ICI intra JSE 30-06-16After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Thursday, Caribbean Cement traded 94,370 units at $23.85, Jamaica Broilers Group 159,141 shares at $14.25, Kingston Wharves 500,000 at $14, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund with 765,293 shares at $10.12 and from the junior markets, C2W Music traded 96,545 units at 29 cents.
Trading resulted in activity in 27 securities, accounting for a volume of 1,925,070 shares compared to as 9 stocks gained and 9 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 71,299 units compared to an average of 52,897 units on Wednesday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 621.95 points to 177,369.22, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 556.11 points to 159,641.43 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index declined 419.13 to close at 170,649.04 points andthe junior market index rose 9.34 points to 2,199.67.

Trading, early Tuesday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the slow pace evident for early summer month with moderate volumes with few stocks trading over 100,000 shares. After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Tuesday, the main market indices gave up ground while the junior market gained moderately.
ICI intra JSE 28-06-16Only three stocks trade over 100,000 units, with 1834 Investments trading 110,958 shares at $1.02, Proven Investments 262,000 ordinary shares at 17.98 US cents, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund traded 126,843 but fell 3 cents to $10.12.
Grace Kennedy jumped $1.40 to $124.50, Montego Bay Ice jumped $2.60 to $17.50 and Scotia Investments climbed $1.70 to $27.70.
Trading resulted in activity in 23 securities, accounting for a volume of 652,351 shares compared to as 7 stocks gained and 6 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 28,363 units compared to an average of 83,135 units on Monday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 105.04 points to 177,444.31, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 93.92 points to 159,708.57 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index fell 63.58 to close at 170,778.93 points andthe junior market index rose 2.28 points to 2,207.89.

Juniors trade over 2.6m shares – Thursday

Spurred by good volumes in a number of junior market stocks, the junior market has so far traded over 2.6 million units while the main market had 3 securities trading in volumes over 100,000 units. Honey Bun fresh from a 5 to 1 stock split traded for the first time at $4.30.
Volumes increased for a number of stocks as Honey Bun traded 155,000 units at $4.30, Iron Rock Insurance exchanged 600,000 shares at $3.20, Lasco Distributors lost ground, in trading 762,546 units at $7.90 down from $8 on ICI intra JSE 02-06-16Wednesday and Lasco Manufacturing had with 1,048,000 shares trading at $4.60. JMMB Group traded 100,000 units at $10, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 500,400 shares changing hands at $10 while Supreme Ventures accounted for 219,900 shares at $4.30.
Trading resulted in activity in 27 securities, accounting for a volume of 3,660,342 units as 11 stocks gained and 11 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 135,568 units compared to an average of 233,476 units on Wednesday.
After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Thursday, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 696.08 points to 175,575.85, the JSE Market Index rose 622.41 points to 158,037.88, the JSE combined index rose by 696.08 points, to 168,568.02 and the junior market index fell 8.59 points to 2,141.91.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market ended with Grace Kennedy trading at a 52 weeks intraday high of $120 but ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $111. The last time the stock traded so high, was March 2015, but the stock is still priced below the all-time high of $123, reached in February of that 2015.

Insiders trading into shares of companies they are involved in can be an important indicator of likely future fortunes of the company. Of course not all such trades are equal but they may be strong clues. The Jamaica Stock Exchange has released reports on several insider trades recently.
Most recent reports show that a director of Sagicor Real Estate X Fund demonstrated strong faith in the future of the company, by purchasing 121,500 shares on November 20 at $9.90. The fund reported consolidated net profit attributable to stockholders of $1.04 billion for the nine months to September or 63 cents per share with net profit for the September quarter ending at $349 million or 17 cents per share. The quarterly results include capital gains on financial assets and liabilities of $279 million and $746 million for the year to date. The net asset at the end of September amounts to $6.83 with the selling at a premium of 46 percent above net assets.
Elsewhere, at Caribbean Flavours connected parties, purchased 212,000 units of the company’s shares on November 17 at $5, the stock last traded at $6.30 and should go higher with recent results showing growth in profits.

In the meantime, at National Commercial Bank a connected party purchased 34,295 units of NCBJ shares on November 18 and on November 17 a connected party purchased 1,000 units, that is considered undervalued at the last traded price of $37. On November 19 a director purchased 5,300 Eppley’s shares at $400 each.
Lasco Financial Services that is expanding into new areas, saw a connected party purchasing 393,189 shares between November 5 and 23. At Sagicor Group an Executive and two Officers collectively purchased 497,634 of the company’s shares under the Executive Long Term Incentive Scheme on November 16 and 17, but on November 18 an Executive sold 365,400 shares.
Not all insiders were buyers, as Kingston Wharves advised that connected parties sold 12,523 units of its shares on November 17 and 18, while at Mayberry Investments connected parties purchased 4,058,034 units of the company’s shares while a related party sold 3,500,000 units on November 17 and a connected party purchased 127,443 shares on November 18.
Caribbean Cream informed the stock exchange that a connected party sold 750,000 shares between October 28 to 30, while a related party purchased 2,895 shares on October 16.

The Jamaica stock market is off to a spirited start on Wednesday which saw Sagicor Investments crossing 227.5 million Dolphin Cove shares and buying another 2.1 million from other brokers. The main market indices are down and the junior of index is up with a number of new 52 weeks’ high being achieved.

Jamaica Producers traded 1,156,535 units at $22.51, down by $1.50, Sagicor Group has seen 508,350 shares changing hands at $16.58, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 1,043,832 units at $9.81 and Seprod with 304,359 shares rising $1.85 to $17.80.
The number of securities trading climbed sharply to 28 securities changing hands with a volume of 234,954,186 units as 14 stocks gained and 7 declined after 75 minutes of trading.
The All Jamaican Composite index fell 135.44 points to 154,934.62, the JSE Market Index declined 121.19 points to 139,570.88 the JSE combined index rose 254.07 points to be at 146,679.37 and the junior market index climbed 41.27 points to 1,669.02.

The rise in the price of Cable & Wireless shares by 20 cents or 24.4 percent for the day would be the main contributor to the rise. Others to contribute would be Caribbean Cement up $1.72 to $16.72, Mayberry Investments up 50 cents to $3.50 and Sagicor Real Estate X Fund up $1.05 to $9.20.

Investors in Sagicor Real Estate Fund have gobbled up more than the 598,134,700 provisionally allotted shares in the Rights Issue, the company announced that as at August 24. Pursuant to the terms of the Rights Issue the Directors have decided to release a further 149,533,675 shares in the Un-allocated Pool.
These shares (“Up-sizable Shares”) are available to shareholders as additional shares over and above their provisional allotment.
Shareholders may apply for Up-sizable Shares at the rights issue price of J$6.95 per share in one of 2 ways: (a) by completing an Application for additional shares; or (b) by completing Box 5 in their Provisional Allotment Letter (in the case of shareholders who have not yet returned their Provisional Allotment Letter).
If the aggregate number of shares applied for from the Un-allocated Pool shall exceed the number of shares available in the Pool, then all applications will be scaled down pro rata.
The Rights Issue will close at 4:30 p.m. on September 2, 2015 – unless extended by the Directors.
The funds received from the Rights Issue will be invested as equity in a new subsidiary X Fund Properties LLC established in the USA. X Fund Properties LLC will purchase the DoubleTree Hilton at the Entrance to Universal in Orlando, Florida.
The DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal is 742 guest rooms (inclusive of 17 suites) hotel with over 62,800 square feet of meeting and convention space. It is located in Orlando at the entrance to the Universal Theme Park. The purchase price for the Hotel is US$75,000.000. The balance of the purchase price is expected to be financed by a US institutional lender.
