Blue Power traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $15 with 8,000 units, to gain $1.30 cents, in early Thursday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Activity picked up on the last trading day for June, with three stocks trading over 100,000 units and two over 90,000 shares. The majors suffered losses but the juniors recorded gains in the session.
After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Thursday, Caribbean Cement traded 94,370 units at $23.85, Jamaica Broilers Group 159,141 shares at $14.25, Kingston Wharves 500,000 at $14, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund with 765,293 shares at $10.12 and from the junior markets, C2W Music traded 96,545 units at 29 cents.
Trading resulted in activity in 27 securities, accounting for a volume of 1,925,070 shares compared to as 9 stocks gained and 9 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 71,299 units compared to an average of 52,897 units on Wednesday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 621.95 points to 177,369.22, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 556.11 points to 159,641.43 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index declined 419.13 to close at 170,649.04 points andthe junior market index rose 9.34 points to 2,199.67.

JSE down in early trading
Trading, early Tuesday morning on the Jamaica Stock Exchange continues the slow pace evident for early summer month with moderate volumes with few stocks trading over 100,000 shares. After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Tuesday, the main market indices gave up ground while the junior market gained moderately.
Only three stocks trade over 100,000 units, with 1834 Investments trading 110,958 shares at $1.02, Proven Investments 262,000 ordinary shares at 17.98 US cents, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund traded 126,843 but fell 3 cents to $10.12.
Grace Kennedy jumped $1.40 to $124.50, Montego Bay Ice jumped $2.60 to $17.50 and Scotia Investments climbed $1.70 to $27.70.
Trading resulted in activity in 23 securities, accounting for a volume of 652,351 shares compared to as 7 stocks gained and 6 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 28,363 units compared to an average of 83,135 units on Monday.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 105.04 points to 177,444.31, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index dipped 93.92 points to 159,708.57 the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index fell 63.58 to close at 170,778.93 points andthe junior market index rose 2.28 points to 2,207.89.
Juniors trade over 2.6m shares – Thursday
Spurred by good volumes in a number of junior market stocks, the junior market has so far traded over 2.6 million units while the main market had 3 securities trading in volumes over 100,000 units. Honey Bun fresh from a 5 to 1 stock split traded for the first time at $4.30.
Volumes increased for a number of stocks as Honey Bun traded 155,000 units at $4.30, Iron Rock Insurance exchanged 600,000 shares at $3.20, Lasco Distributors lost ground, in trading 762,546 units at $7.90 down from $8 on Wednesday and Lasco Manufacturing had with 1,048,000 shares trading at $4.60. JMMB Group traded 100,000 units at $10, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 500,400 shares changing hands at $10 while Supreme Ventures accounted for 219,900 shares at $4.30.
Trading resulted in activity in 27 securities, accounting for a volume of 3,660,342 units as 11 stocks gained and 11 declined. The average number of shares traded amounts to 135,568 units compared to an average of 233,476 units on Wednesday.
After 75 minutes of trading in the early morning session, on Thursday, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 696.08 points to 175,575.85, the JSE Market Index rose 622.41 points to 158,037.88, the JSE combined index rose by 696.08 points, to 168,568.02 and the junior market index fell 8.59 points to 2,141.91.
Dolphin trades 230M shares
The Jamaica stock market is off to a spirited start on Wednesday which saw Sagicor Investments crossing 227.5 million Dolphin Cove shares and buying another 2.1 million from other brokers. The main market indices are down and the junior of index is up with a number of new 52 weeks’ high being achieved.
Notable trades are, Caribbean Cream with 10,000 units at a new high of $5 after adding 40 cents, Dolphin Cove with 229,610,218 units at a new high of $16.03 with a rise of $2.33, Cable & Wireless with 690,670 units changing hands up to $2, but last traded at $1.91, Jamaica Broilers with 914,200 shares changing hands at $8.76. Jamaica Producers traded 1,156,535 units at $22.51, down by $1.50, Sagicor Group has seen 508,350 shares changing hands at $16.58, Sagicor Real Estate X Fund had 1,043,832 units at $9.81 and Seprod with 304,359 shares rising $1.85 to $17.80.
The number of securities trading climbed sharply to 28 securities changing hands with a volume of 234,954,186 units as 14 stocks gained and 7 declined after 75 minutes of trading.
The All Jamaican Composite index fell 135.44 points to 154,934.62, the JSE Market Index declined 121.19 points to 139,570.88 the JSE combined index rose 254.07 points to be at 146,679.37 and the junior market index climbed 41.27 points to 1,669.02.
All Jamaica at new record high
The JSE all Jamaica Composite index is at a new all-time high of 139,537.61 at 11.13am on Monday morning after gaining 2,027.33 points, breaking the old record close of 138,917.59 set on 24th of January 2005.
The rise in the price of Cable & Wireless shares by 20 cents or 24.4 percent for the day would be the main contributor to the rise. Others to contribute would be Caribbean Cement up $1.72 to $16.72, Mayberry Investments up 50 cents to $3.50 and Sagicor Real Estate X Fund up $1.05 to $9.20.
Investors grab Sagicor rights
These shares (“Up-sizable Shares”) are available to shareholders as additional shares over and above their provisional allotment.

The DoubleTree by Hilton at the Entrance to Universal is 742 guest rooms (inclusive of 17 suites) hotel with over 62,800 square feet of meeting and convention space. It is located in Orlando at the entrance to the Universal Theme Park. The purchase price for the Hotel is US$75,000.000. The balance of the purchase price is expected to be financed by a US institutional lender.
Scotia Group tops trading on Thursday
The JSE Market Index lost 264.93 points to 97,050.42, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declining by 296.12 points to close at 107,415.22 but the JSE combined index declined 377.15 points to end at 99,605.19.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator was showing a better reading than Wednesday’s close of 9 to 8, with Thursday’s reading of 12 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 5 with offers that were lower.
In trading, Caribbean Cement closed with 48,780 shares changing hands at $5.45 after slipping 5 cents, Carreras put on 2 cents while trading 26,534 shares at $48.37, Gleaner ended with 30,000 shares changing hands but lost 1 cent to close at $1.07, Grace Kennedy gained 45 cents with only 2,040 units changing hands at $63.95. Hardware and Lumber fell 50 cents to $17.50 with 1,500 shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers lost 50 cents in trading 1,497 units to end at $5.50, Jamaica Stock Exchange dropped 46 cents in trading 5,400 shares and ended at $6.35. At the close Stocks and Securities offered 982,465 units for sale at $6.80, Kingston Properties climbed $1 to $8 with 2,705 shares, National Commercial Bank rose 10 cents in trading 25,224 shares to close at $29.10, Sagicor Group fell 24 cents with 28,533 units trading to end at $12.61, Scotia Group had 1,419,099 units trading at $23.50, Scotia Investments fell by $2.35 to $27.50 with only 4,217 units. Jamaica Money Market Brokers 8.75% preference share traded 56,983 units at a loss of 1 cent at $2.98 and Proven Investments 8% preference share ended with 42,500 units trading unchanged at $5.

The JSE Market Index lost 137.06 points to 97,315.35, the JSE All Jamaican Composite index declining by 153.20 points to close at 107,711.34 but the JSE combined index declined 273.13 points to end at 99,982.34.

Gleaner ended with 13,645 shares changing hands but gained 8 cents at the close to $1.08, Grace Kennedy had 26,700 units changing hands and fell 50 cents to $63.50, Jamaica Broilers remained firm in trading 94,000 units to end at $6. Jamaica Stock Exchange in trading 17,135 shares ended with a gain of 1 cent at $6.81, at the close Stocks and Securities offered 982,865 units for sale at $6.80. Kingston Wharves traded 12,229 shares in closing at $7. The stock traded at a 52 weeks’ intraday high of $7.01, Mayberry Investments traded 123,703 shares to dip 7 cents at $2.53, National Commercial Bank declined by just 1 cents in trading 144,522 shares to close at $29, Proven Investments traded 117,000 shares to close at 21.5 US cents up from the closing price of 19.01 US cents on Tuesday. Sagicor Group fell 10 cents with 1,510,308 units trading to end at $12.85, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed 1 cent down at $8 after 11,625 shares were exchanged and Scotia Group had 156,455 units trading 25 cents higher at $23.50.
