At the close 4,739,909 units valued at $93,941,257 changed hands, compared to 2,584,785 units valued at $33,734,659 changing hands on Wednesday. The junior market accounted for 1,360,374 units trading valued at $8,009,663 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 153,615 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 166,273 units. 
On Wednesday, an average of 77,761 units, compared to an average for the month to date of 178,931.

The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange made modest gains on Wednesday with the all Jamaica Composite Index rising 216.41 points to 183,669.65. The JSE Market Index climbed 193.50 points to finish at 165,275.10 and the JSE combined index rose 551.77 points to end at 177,742.62 and gained at 12 percent for the year to date.

JSE majors in big fall on Wednesday
The main market indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange got clobbered on Wednesday with the all Jamaica Composite Index dropping 2,404.09 points before the close of trading and ended down by with a smaller loss of 1,423.88 at 185,219.39.
The JSE Market Index had dived 2,146.93 points ahead of closing, but clawed back some of the losses, to finish at 166,660.85, having lost 1,273.21 points and the JSE combined index which plunged 2,038.87 points ahead of the close, lost 1,267.83 points to end at 178,971.13 and held a 13 percent for the year to date.
At the close 3,225,271 units valued at $32,690,159 changed hands, compared to 11,005,276 units valued at $189,009,513 changing hands on Tuesday. The junior market accounted for 1,741,347 units trading valued at $9,759,413 of the stocks traded.

Kingston Wharves lost 45 cents in trading 22,970 shares to close at $17.50, Mayberry Investments traded 3,943 shares to close with a gain 10 cents at $3.50, National Commercial Bank traded 728,535 shares and gained 25 cents to end at $42.40, Pan Jamaican Investments rose 30 cents to close at $23.30 after trading 421,985 shares. Portland JSX traded 3,334,455 units with the price rising by 9 cents to end at $11.06, Sagicor Group gained 15 cents in trading 178,182 shares to end at $24, Scotia Group gained 19 cents to close at $30.20 with 486,698 shares changing hands. Scotia Investments had 476,900 units changing hands to close at $30, Seprod traded 12,010 shares to close at $23.50, Supreme Ventures lost 1 cent and closed at $4.79 with 45,090 shares changing. Proven Investments closed at 20 US cents with 20,300 shares trading and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.5% preference share gained 1 cent in trading 355,130 units at $2.10.
