Junior Market chalks up more records as Majors climb

The Junior Market squeezed out a 9.79 points gain to end at new record close of 4,409.35, after hitting a record high for the day at 4,457.62 after 40 minutes of trading, while Main Market made more recovery and the JSE USD market all of Wednesday losses. At the close, the JSE Combined Index added 2,695.40 points to close at 414,765.07.
The All Jamaican Composite Index added 3,387.02 points to settle at 458,566.05, the JSE Main Index rose 2,786.19 points to end at 401,200.32 and the JSE USD market index slipped 11.21 points to 225.20.
Trading results in 57,700,412 shares trading in all markets. The value of stocks exchanged in the Main and Junior markets amounting to $334.9 million and the JSE USD market amounting to US$33,620.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 25.4 based on 2021-22 earnings and 14 times those for 2022-23 at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.

Big fall for JSE USD market

Trading on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended with the volume of shares changing hands declining 64 percent, with 32 percent less than on Tuesday and resulted in five securities traded, compared to nine on Tuesday with none rising, three falling and two ending unchanged.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index dropped 10.72 points to end at 203.91.

51,502 shares traded for US$12,484 compared to 144,543 units at US$18,342 on Tuesday. Sygnus Credit Investments USD share ended unchanged at 12.9 US cents, with 2,610 stock units crossing the exchange and Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share fell 2.62 cents in closing at 12.07 US cents with the swapping of 500 units.

Gains for JSE Main Market

Market activity ended Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market with the volume of shares trading slipping 24 percent, with the value down 42 percent lower than on Tuesday as declining stocks exceeded those rising almost two to one.
The All Jamaican Composite Index popped 1,335.55 points to 455,179.03, the JSE Main Index added 2,893.91 points to close at 398,414.13 and the JSE Financial Index rallied 0.08 points to settle at 93.85.
Trading ended with 55 securities dow from 56 on Tuesday, with 18 rising, 31 declining and six ending unchanged.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market on Tuesday ended with the volume of shares changing hands rising 15 percent as 174 percent more funds went after stocks than on Monday, resulting in nine trading compared to seven on Monday, with none rising, two declining and seven ending unchanged.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index dipped 0.06 points to end at 224.71.

Another record close for Junior Market

Tuesday was another record breaking day on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the market Index popping 35.96 points to a new record close of 4,384.22 after the market opened just over 4,202 points but drifted lower after and closed, with the volume of stocks changing hands rising 56 percent and the value 23 percent higher than on Monday.

Investors traded 41 percent fewer shares with a 37 percent higher value in Monday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market compared to market activity on Friday, resulting in slightly more stocks rising than falling.
A total of seven securities traded, compared to six on Friday with three rising, two declining and two ending unchanged. The JSE US Denominated Equities Index gained 1.28 points to end at 224.77.
