Pulse dominates Main Market trades

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded surging 4,201 percent with 590 percent greater value than on Wednesday with 57 securities compared to 55 on Wednesday, with 20 rising, 18 declining and 19 ending unchanged.

Pulse closed at a new high after hitting a record $10.59 during the day.

Overall, 358,301,804 shares were exchanged for $1,351,391,586 up from 8,329,845 units at $195,931,637 on Wednesday. Trading averages 6,285,997 units at $23,708,624, versus 151,452 shares at $3,562,393 on Wednesday and month to date, an average of 641,350 units at $3,094,438, compared to 159,696 units at $1,335,443 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.
Pulse Investments led trading with 350.18 million shares for 97.7 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 3.73 million units for one percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group with 1.19 million units for 0.3 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dipped 414.17 points to 414,436.77, the JSE Main Index fell 122.66 points to 365,745.97 and the JSE Financial Index advanced 0.06 points to 87.77.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 78 percent less valued 92 percent lower than on Wednesday, resulting in 12 securities trading, compared to nine on Wednesday, with four rising, two declining and six ending unchanged.
Investors exchanged 394,179 shares for US$26,302 compared to 1,690,663 units at US$286,936 on Wednesday. Trading averaged 32,848 units at US$2,192, versus 187,851 shares at US$31,882 on Wednesday, with month to date average of 45,865 shares at US$7,629 versus 47,248 units at US$8,206 on the previous trading day. July ended with an average of 49,665 units for US$3,449.
The JSE US Denominated Equities Index rose 5.99 points to end at 214.30.

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 31 percent, with a modestly higher value than on Wednesday as 43 securities traded, up from 40 on Wednesday and ended with 20 rising, 15 declining and eight closing unchanged.
A total of 11,732,727 shares traded for $36,312,222 compared to 8,962,203 units at $34,135,300 on Wednesday. Trading on Wednesday averaged 272,854 shares at $844,470 compred to 224,055 shares at $853,383 on Wednesday with month to date, averaging 425,878 units at $1,424,836 compared to 438,729 units at $1,473,578 on Wednesday the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 512,709 units at $2,574,304.
Lumber Depot led trading with 6.38 million shares for 54.4 percent of total volume followed by JFP Limited with 1.43 million units for 12.2 percent of the day’s trade and Dolla Financial with 875,872 units for 7.5 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rallied 5.98 points to 4,132.94.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange continues to struggle even with strong signals that inflation locally is well below the Bank of Jamaica’s upper limit of 6 percent and much closer to its lower end of 4 percent since October last year suggesting that interest rates are close to their peak. The market closed with modest changes in the various indices, resulting in the JSE Combined Index slipping 60.20 points to 379,141.23 but only after Pulse Investments traded 350 million shares for $1,268 billion.

The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 414.17 points to 414,436.77, the JSE Main Index dipped 122.66 points to 365,745.97, the Junior Market Index added just 5.98 points to 4,132.94 and the JSE USD market Index climbed 5.99 points to 214.33.
Trading ended, with 370,414,710 shares changing hands with the value jumping to $1.389 billion, from $230 million, with 18,982,711 shares traded in the overall market on the prior trading day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded at US$23,319, versus US$286,936 on the previous day of trading.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 23.6 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.7 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.

Trading ended with 55 securities, the same as Tuesday, with 14 rising, 27 declining and 14 ending unchanged. The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 2,917.62 points to 414,850.94, the Main Index fell 847.36 points to 365,868.63 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.20 points to 87.71.
Investors were more aggressive on Wednesday, trading 8,329,845 shares for $195,931,637 up from 6,129,079 units at $50,321,427 on Tuesday. Trading averaged 151,452 units at $3,562,393, versus 111,438 shares at $914,935 on Tuesday and month to date, an average of 159,696 units at $1,335,443, compared to 160,435 units at $1,135,635 on the previous trading day. July closed with an average of 173,643 units at $1,683,017.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.32 million shares for 15.9 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.25 million units for 15 percent of the day’s trade, PanJam Investment with 1.15 million units for 13.8 percent market share and Sagicor Group ended with 1.04 million units for 12.4 percent of stocks trading.

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Wednesday, with declining stock dominating the market following a 24 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded, with the value slipping 19 percent from Tuesday outcome and leading to 40 securities trading versus 41 on Tuesday, with prices of 10 rising, 24 declining and six closing unchanged.

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 17 percent, with the value rising 58 percent above Monday’s moderate levels as declining stocks exceeded those rising and resulted in a decline in the primary market indices.
A total of 6,129,079 shares were exchanged for $50,321,427 versus 7,396,135 units at $31,788,226 on Monday. Trading averaged 111,438 units at $914,935, compared to 125,358 shares at $538,783 on Monday, with the month to date, averaging   160,435 units at $1,135,635, compared to 165,265 units at $1,157,389 on the previous trading day. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 2.15 million shares for 35 percent of total volume, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 1.26 million units for 20.5 percent of the day’s trade and Carreras with 295,502 units for 4.8 percent market share.
