Mayberry climbs 21% as JSE starts 2015 up
The prices of 10 stocks rose and 5 declined as 22 securities changed hands, ending in a mere 610,207 units trading, valued at $3,977,611, in all market segments.

Gains| Stocks gaining with last traded prices at the end of trading in the main market are, Cable & Wireless, the stock that tripled in price in 2014, ended the first day of trading of the new year with 77,500 shares changing hands, 2 cents higher to 50 cents. Carreras finished with 30,725 shares trading with a gain of 60 cents at $37, Mayberry Investments gained 21 percent at the end of trading with 4,240 shares changing hands to close higher by 32 cents to $1.84, in response to the sale of Access shares that will contribute to a big one off boost in profit for 2014. National Commercial Bank ended trading with 15,600 shares changing hands, to close with a gain of 49 cents at $18.99, Salada Foods concluded trading with 4,500 shares changing hands, with a gain of $1.30 to $10 for a 15 percent increase. The stock is reacting to a strong boost to the company’s 2014 profit out turn and Scotia Group ended with 2,490 shares with the price rising 49 cents to $20.50.

Declines| The last traded prices of stocks with losses at the end of trading in the main market are, Desnoes & Geddes finished with 4,965 shares trading lower by 1 cent to $4.94, Sagicor Group ended trading with 54,388 shares changing hands to close lower by 25 cents to $10 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed with 19,224 units as the price slipped 1 cent to $7.10.
Preference| Proven Investments 8% preference shares traded 119,700 units ended trading at $5.10.
Junior market up 1st trading day of 2015
At the close of the market continues to reflect renewed interest in junior stocks with 6 securities closing with no bids to buy and 8 securities that had no stocks being offered for sale, in addition there were 6 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with offers that were lower.

JSE set to close out 2014 up
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange should end the year on a positive note as there was far more stocks closing with higher bids than those that had lower offers at the close on Tuesday, suggesting that the majority of stocks trading should enjoy increased prices.
The major shares in Access Financial Services changed hands on Tuesday in trading on the stock exchange junior market as Mayberry sold out its holdings to Proven Investments. Mayberry who had expressed a desire to sell as a result of the dispute with the founding shareholder Marcus James finally did so, resulting in a billion profit on their investment. Overall trading in the market, resulted in the prices of 7 stocks rising and 10 declining as 27 securities changed hands, ending in 141,314,531 units trading, valued at $1,232,287,766, in all market segments.

Access 14m shares trade cancelled
Mayberry traded 14,065,475 units of Access Financial shares at $9 on Monday but the transactions were cancelled after the market closed. Apparently, the trade was in breach of the court order for the two major shareholders to freeze their respective holdings. The official trading report of the Jamaica Stock Exchange showed the trades as they were still valid, but data on the stock exchange trading system show the trades as cancelled.
In actual trading on the Junior Market, only 6 securities traded ending with 336,824 units valued at $597,178 changing hands. The JSE Junior Market Index dropped 1.01 points to close at 689.28, with the price of 2 advancing and 2 declining.

Salada sole main market stock up Wednesday
In Wednesday’s activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Salada Foods was the sole main market stock gaining on the eve of Christmas. The gain comes after the company reported strong increased earnings in the September quarter, from robust sales growth flowing from a change in distributorship.
At the close of trading, the prices of 4 stocks rose and 9 declined as only 18 securities changed hands, ending in 2,553,000 units trading, valued at $42,970,245, in all market segments.

Eppley 10% Preference share list
Eppley’s latest cumulative preference shares were listed on Wednesday, there was no trading in the stock. The listing flowed from the reopening of an issue which went to market in November and was oversubscribed and led to the reopening of the issue on in December on the same terms which includes interest at 10 percent for two years then a step up thereafter, the second was also oversubscribed.
