Jamaica Stock Exchange in consolidating

The Jamaica Stock Exchange continues to consolidate with the market indices trading in a narrow range. At the close on Wednesday, the JSE Combined Index a measure of the overall market, popped just 217.50 points to 373,962.01.  
The All Jamaican Composite Index added just 21.40  points to close at 408,470.42, the JSE Main Index gained  125.03 points to 359,538.11, the Junior Market Index rose a mere 11.10 points to 4,202.18 and the JSE USD market Index slipped 1.75 points to 203.94.
Trading ended, with 30,052,674 shares changing hands with a value of $263.17 million, from $144.37 million, with 26,327,076 shares traded in the overall market on the prior trading day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded at US$18,774 from US$16,803 on Tuesday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 23.7 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.5 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.

Prices pressured but Main Market gains

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 18 percent, with 23 percent greater value than on Monday, with 53 securities trading compared to 62 on Monday, leading 15 rising, 28 declining and 10 ending unchanged.
A total of 10,202,723 shares were exchanged for $99,881,216 versus 8,665,395 units at $81,164,850 on Monday. Trading averaged 192,504 units at $1,884,551 versus 139,764 shares at $1,309,110 on Monday. The month to date averages 229,234 units at $2,357,478 compared to 233,560 units at $2,413,179 on the previous trading day. August closed with an average of 738,534 units at $5,975,613.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 3.12 million shares for 30.5 percent of total volume followed by Pulse Investments with 2.74 million units for 26.9 percent of the day’s trade and Transjamaican Highway with 890,991 units for 8.7 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index gained 112.38 points to close at 408,449.02, the JSE Main Index rose 1,661.36 points to 359,413.08 and the JSE Financial Index increased 1.05 points to settle at 86.11.

Carreras shed 43 cents to $8.52 in an exchange of 150,296 stocks, Guardian Holdings gained $34.99 to end at $529.99 in exchanging two units, Jamaica Stock Exchange increased $1.50 to $17.10 after a transfer of 9,588 stocks. JMMB Group rallied 45 cents to end at $41.50 trading 51,042 stock units, Kingston Wharves dropped 41 cents in ending at $36.10 after exchanging 17,036 shares, NCB Financial rose $1 to close at $90, with 133,117 units crossing the market. 138 Student Living declined $1.30 in closing at $5.50 with an exchange of 3,184 stocks, Proven Investments advanced $1.94 in closing at $31.99 after exchanging 867 stock units, Scotia Group dropped $1.15 to $34 in trading 24,528 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments climbed 45 cents to $13.70, with 12,647 stocks changing hands.
In the preference segmentJamaica Public Service 9.5% lost $450 to end at $2650, with 574 units changing hands and 138 Student Living preference share fell $1 to close at $60 as investors exchanged 100 shares.

Trading dropped on the Junior Market

Trading dropped on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 28 percent, with the value 35 percent lower than on Monday after 44 securities participated in trading versus 47 on Monday and ended with prices of 18 rising,21 declining and five closing unchanged.
A total of 15,819,476 shares were exchanged for $44,484,518 down from 21,969,586 units at $68,081,567 on Monday. Trading averaged 359,534 shares at $1,011,012 compared to 467,438 units at $1,448,544 on Monday, with the month to date, averaging 592,604 units at $1,892,793 compared to 621,573 units at $2,002,392 on the preceding trading day. August closed with an average of 407,186 units at $1,330,946.
ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 2.46 million shares for 15.6 percent of total volume, followed by JFP Limited with 2.30 million units for 14.5 percent of the day’s trade, EduFocal continued with 1.91 million units for 12.1 percent market share and MFS Capital Partners ended with 1.84 million units for 11.6 percent stocks traded.
At the close, the Junior Market Index climbed 34.28 points to settle at 4,191.08.

Main Event increased 18 cents to $5.70 with a transfer of 3,565 shares, MFS Capital Partners advanced 45 cents to $3.60 in an exchange of 1,839,829 shares, Paramount Trading declined 14 cents in closing at $1.81, with 11,000 stocks crossing the market and Spur Tree Spices fell 14 cents to $3.60 with the swapping of 311,010 units.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Tuesday, with the volume of stocks exchanged rising 464 percent, valued 36 percent more than on Monday, resulting in eight securities trading, similar to on Monday with none rising, three declining and five ending unchanged.
Overall, 304,877 shares traded, for US$16,803 up from 54,098 units at US$12,392 on Monday. Trading averaged 38,110 units at US$2,100 versus 6,762 shares at US$1,549 on Monday, with a month to date average of 52,896 shares at US$6,081 versus 54,716 units at US$6,571 on the previous trading day. August ended with an average of 53,206 units for US$7,288.

Trading ended, with 26,327,076 shares changing hands with a value of $144.37 million, from $149.25 million, with 30,689,079 shares traded in the overall market on the prior trading day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded at US$16,803 from US$12,392 on Monday.
The market’s PE ratio ended at 22.3 based on 2021-22 earnings and 12.3 times those for 2022-23 at the close of trading.

No rising stock on JSE USD market

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Monday, with the volume of stocks exchanged dropping 96 percent the valued 94 percent lower than on Friday, resulting in eight securities trading, compared to seven on Friday with no rising, two declining and six ending unchanged as investors swapped 54,098 shares for US$12,392 compared to 1,374,508 units at US$215,103 on Friday.
Trading averaged 6,762 units at US$1,549 versus 196,358 shares at US$30,729 on Friday, with a month to date average of 54,716 shares at US$6,571 against 61,447 units at US$7,275 on the previous trading day.  August ended with an average of 53,206 units for US$7,288.

Junior Market trading closed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 10 percent more and the value 21 percent higher than on Friday with 47 securities trading versus 45 on Friday and ending with prices of 20 rising, 14 declining and 13 closing unchanged.
A total of 21,969,586 shares were exchanged for $68,081,567 up from 20,063,473 units at $56,261,266 on Friday.

ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 6.52 million shares for 29.7 percent of total volume followed by iCreate, 3.23 million units for 14.7 percent of the day’s trade, Jamaican Teas ended with 3.21 million units for 14.6 percent of the day‘s trade, Future Energy Source traded 2.11 million units for 9.6 percent market share, Fosrich closed with 1.90 million units for 8.7 percent of the market and Dolla Financial, with 1.30 million units for 5.9 percent market share.

Trading ended, with 30,689,079 shares changing hands with a value of $149.25 million, from $216.5 million, with 31,020,693 shares traded in the overall market on the prior trading day. The JSE USD market ended with the value of stocks traded at US$12,392 from US$215,103 on Friday.

More decline for Junior Market

For a second consecutive day, the Junior Market Index declined sharply and dropped 46.93 points to 4,183.05 following the 76 points fall on Thursday as trading closed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 21 percent and the value 24 percent lower than on Thursday.
Investors exchanged 45 securities versus 44 on Thursday, 12 rose, 19 declined and 14 closed unchanged.
A total of 20,063,473 shares were exchanged for $56,261,266 compared to 25,483,749 units at $73,838,816 on Thursday. Trading averaged 445,855 shares at $1,250,250 compared to 579,176 shares at $1,678,155 on Thursday with the month to date, averaging 645,170 units at $2,087,184 compared to 679,404 units at $2,230,932 on the previous trading day. August closed with an average of 407,186 units at $1,330,946.
ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 9.46 million shares for 47.2 percent of total volume followed by Dolla Financial with 3.42 million units for 17.1 percent of the day’s trade, Fosrich with 1.96 million units for 9.8 percent market share and MFS Capital Partners with 1.42 million units for 7.1 percent market share.

JSE Main Market drops on Friday

The volume of stocks trading dropped sharply on Friday from Thursday, with 40 percent fewer shares changing hands but with 50 percent more value on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, following trading in 57 securities compared to 49 on Thursday, with 16 rising, 23 declining and 18 ending unchanged.
Investors traded 9,582,712 shares for $160,269,027 compared to 15,879,100 units at $107,233,955 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 168,118 units at $2,811,737 versus 324,063 shares at $2,188,448 on Thursday and the month to date, an average of 248,548 units at $2,589,602, compared to 262,399 units at $2,551,349 on the previous trading day. August closed with an average of 738,534 units at $5,975,613.
