Market activity ended mixed on Friday, as trading volume jumped 217 percent over Thursday’s levels with the value of stocks changing hands rising 273 percent, as trading ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange with an equal number of stocks rising as those that declined.
Trading took place in 17 securities compared to 18 on Thursday, with prices of five stocks rising, five declining and seven closed unchanged. The Composite Index dropped 6.72 points to 1,328.77, the All T&T Index rose 3.17 points to settle at 1,795.98, and the Cross-Listed Index fell 2.42 points to 116.16.
At the close, 297,943 shares traded for $9,108,996 compared to 93,952 units at $2,443,596 on Thursday.
An average of 17,526 units traded at $535,823, up from 5,220 at $135,755 on Thursday. An average of 12,254 units traded at $262,455 for the month to date versus 10,760 units at $185,001. Trading in April averaged 11,472 units at $184,959.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows two stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close, Agostini’s traded 5,110 shares at $24.40, Angostura Holdings ended at $15.50 after 102 shares crossed the market, Ansa Mcal dropped 15 cents to $56.60, with 7,437 stock units crossing the exchange. Clico Investment Fund climbed 40 cents to $25.50 in exchanging 19,425 stock units, First Citizens Bank gained 15 cents to end at $46.60 in trading 78,321 shares, FirstCaribbean International Bank shed 25 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $6.25, after exchanging 29,170 stocks, Guardian Holdings remained at $29 in switching ownership of 86,720 shares. JMMB Group dipped 1 cent to $1.80 after trading 11,700 units, Massy Holdings stayed at $65 while exchanging 3,714 shares, National Flour Mills traded 618 shares at $2.39. NCB Financial Group lost 20 cents to close at $8 with an exchange of 6,527 shares, Prestige Holdings lost 1 cent to end at $7, with 2,000 units crossing the market, Republic Financial Holdings traded 4,232 stock units at $132.52. Scotiabank increased 5 cents to $54.70 after 7,331 stocks crossed the market, Trinidad & Tobago NGL increased 50 cents to $14 after trading 27,236 shares, Unilever Caribbean advanced $16.33 with an exchange of 6,500 stock units and West Indian Tobacco remained at $32.98 trading 1,800 stock units.

TTSE ends year to date with miniscule gain
Market activity ended on Friday, with the market indices rising after the trading of 64 percent fewer shares than on Thursday, resulting in rising stocks just edging out those declining at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, leaving the market to hold on to a modest gain of less than one percent for the first four months of the year.

At the close, 148,870 shares traded for $3,321,551 compared to 408,693 units at $3,296,893 on Thursday.
An average of 8,757 units traded at $195,385 compared to 27,246 at $219,793 on Thursday. An average of 1,472 units traded at $184,946 for the month to date versus 11,621 units at $184,376. The average trade for March ended at 12,610 units at $342,338.

FirstCaribbean International Bank dipped 1 cent to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $6.50, with 1,177 shares changing hands, JMMB Group fell 1 cent to $1.79 in exchanging 6,216 shares, Massy Holdings shed $1.01 to end at $63.99 after trading 350 shares. National Enterprises gained 1 cent to close at $2.81 in switching ownership of 10,000 units, National Flour Mills traded 1,500 shares at $2.35, NCB Financial Group rose 28 cents to $8.50 in exchanging 5,955 stock units. Prestige Holdings dropped 49 cents to close at $7.01 with an exchange of 2,800 units, Republic Financial Holdings rose 72 cents to $132.98 trading 8,690 shares, Scotiabank climbed 15 cents in closing at $54.65 after exchanging 2,942 units.
