Market activity ended on Thursday on a positive note, with more stocks rising than falling, leading to a rise in the market indices after investors traded 94 percent more shares with a 59 higher value than on Wednesday at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator is flashing positive signals, with five stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with lower offers.
At the close, 17 traded down from 20 on Wednesday, with six rising, four declining and seven ending unchanged.
The Composite Index rose 4.48 points to 1,392.77, the All T&T Index climbed 8.27 points to 1,893.08 and the Cross-Listed Index popped 0.06 points to settle at 120.15.
A total of, 960,642 shares traded for $19,848,307, up from 496,151 units at $12,456,274 on Wednesday.
An average of 56,508 units traded at $1,167,547 compared to 24,808 at $622,814 on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date, amounts to 56,985 units at $802,731 versus 57,056 units at $748,328. The average trade for May amounts to 25,935 units at $406,593.
At the close, Angostura Holdings advanced 5 cents to $15 in exchanging 140,160 shares, Ansa Mcal settled at $57 in trading 10 stocks, First Citizens Bank lost 10 cents to end at $50 with 50 stock units clearing the market. Calypso Macro Investment Fund declined 50 cents to $16 with an exchange of 2 shares, Clico Investment Fund ended at $26.99 with an exchange of 45,224 units. Grace Kennedy traded 290 units at $5.25, Guardian Holdings dropped $1.50 to $33.50 with the swapping of 222,908 shares, JMMB Group shed 1 cent in closing at $1.81 in an exchange of 370,944 stock units. L.J Williams B share closed at $1.35 with an exchange of 5 shares, Massy Holdings spiked $1.25 to close at $74.75 in exchanging 4,950 shares, National Enterprises traded 5,645 stocks at $3.
