Stocks close higher on T&T Stock Exchange

Stocks continue to rise on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, pushing the market indices higher and stretching gains enjoyed over the previous two days for a third day as rising stocks beat decliners 5 to 2, with the number of active securities climbing to 18 from 11 on Tuesday, with reduced value and volume than Tuesday’s levels.
The market closed with 18 securities trading, up from eleven on Tuesday, and ended with five stocks advancing, two declining and eleven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in an exchange of 57 percent fewer shares at 42 percent less value compared to Tuesday as 234,857 shares traded at $3,362,566 compared to 541,911 shares valued at $5,823,399 on Tuesday.
The average trade amounts to 13,048 units at $186,809 versus an average of 49,264 units at $529,400 on Tuesday. Month to date averaged 21,235 shares at $304,882 compared to 23,254 units at $333,996 on Tuesday. November closed with an average of 12,529 shares for $181,770.
The T&T Composite Index advanced by 3.48 points to 1,296.05, the All T&T Index climbed 6.51 points to 1,731.60, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.06 points to close at 116.58.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and five with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Grace Kennedy gained 5 cents to close at $3.70after trading 65,996 shares, Point Lisas settled at $3.14, after gaining 2 cents transferring 3,000 units. Trinidad Cement rose 24 cents to end at $2.35, with 13,000 stock units changing hands, Trinidad and Tobago NGL finished 50 cents higher at $15, in trading 47,626 shares and West Indian Tobacco added 40 cents after exchanging 34,570 shares to close at $35.40.
Stocks declining│First Citizens Bank lost 10 cents trading 239 units at $43.90 and JMMB Group ended 2 cents lower at $1.83, with 15,400 stock units crossing the market.

Trading picked up on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday with an exchange of 83 percent more shares at 376 percent greater value than on Monday while the majority of stocks trading closed with prices unchanged but with four rising, one declining and six remaining unchanged.
The market closed with 11 securities trading, the same as on Monday and resulted in 541,911 shares trading for $5,823,399 compared to 296,689 shares valued at $1,223,272 on Monday.
The average trade amounts to 49,265 units at $529,400 versus an average of 26,972 units at $111,207 on Monday. Month to date averaged 23,254 shares at $333,996 compared to 18,639 units at $299,328 on Monday. November closed with an average of 12,529 shares for $181,770.
The T&T Composite Index rose 4.06 points to 1,293.47, the All T&T Index advanced 6.86 points to 1,725.09, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.16 points to close at 116.52.

Investors pushed the prices of the majority of stocks higher on the final day of the month and driving the Market indices upward on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange after an exchange of 267 percent more shares and a 575 percent increase in the value of stocks trading compared to Friday.

The market closed with 19 securities trading, up from fifteen on Friday, and ended with ten stocks advancing, two declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 707,901 shares for $19,305,014 compared to 192,797 shares valued 2,859,811 on Friday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 37,229 units at $1,016,053 versus an average of 12,853 units at $190,654 for each security on Friday. Month to date averaged 12,529 shares at $181,770 compared to 10,981 units at $129,455 on Friday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

Stock prices mostly rose in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, sending the market indices higher after 52 percent fewer shares and 71 percent lower value changed hands compared to Thursday.
Ansa Merchant Bank jumped $3.11 on the news of its intention to acquire all the shares in Bank of Baroda (Trinidad and Tobago).
The market closed with 15 securities trading, similar to Thursday and ended with six stocks advancing, three declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 192,797 shares for $2,859,811 compared to 399,542 shares valued $9,719,737 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 12,853 units at $190,654 versus an average of 26,636 units at $647,982 for each security on Thursday. Market inched higher for TTSE stocks

Market volume rose sharply by 886 percent and led to the value jumping 13 times Wednesday’s trade on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange at the close on Thursday, but the impact on the market indices was marginal.

The trade for the day averaged 26,636 units at $647,982 versus 2,895 units at $48,308 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 10,884 shares at $126,268 compared to 10,018 units at $131,742 on Wednesday. October trading resulted in an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index gained 1.51 points to 1,281.51, the All T&T Index rose 1.82 points to 1,706.07, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.08 points to close at 115.88.

Just one stock rose at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, but 12 declined, sending the major market indices into a slide with Ansa Merchant Bank and Republic Financial Holdings suffered multi-dollar declines.

Republic Holdings knocks Trinidad stocks

Republic Holdings dropped $6.24 to $132 on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, with the group reporting audit profit plunging from $1.58 billion to just $904 million for the year to September with the company also cutting the dividend paid for the year from $4.50 to $2.70.
With the sharp fall in the price of Republic, the T&T Composite Index declined 8.19 points to 1,281.45, the All T&T Index dived 16.26 points to 1,710.45, while the Cross Listed Index remained unchanged at 115.25.
The market exchanged 16.8 percent fewer shares, with the value jumping 81.2 percent above Thursday, with Clico Investments and Grace Kennedy accounting for 72 percent of total volume and 46 percent of the day’s value.
The market closed with 12 securities trading, down from thirteen on Thursday, and ended with three stocks rising, four declining and five remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 172,050 shares for $3,148,874 compared to 206,882 shares valued $1,738,641 on Thursday.
The average day’s trade was 14,338 units at $262,406 versus an average of 15,914 units at $133,742 for each security on Thursday. All primary indices experienced a sizable fall at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Monday after a 271 percent rise in the number of shares exchanged, with a 618 percent rise in value over Friday as Clico Investments contributed half of the market’s volume and 40 percent of the value.
The market closed with 16 securities trading, up from fifteen on Friday, and ended with six stocks advancing, six declining and four remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 171,072 shares for $3,576,359 compared to 46,072 shares valued $498,067 on Friday.

The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of two stocks higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Trinidad Cement, the sole stock advancing in the day’s trade, closed at $2.20, with gains of 14 cents after exchanging 10,000 shares.
Stocks declining│ Guardian Holdings shed 25 cents to end at $20.15, in transferring 41 units, Guardian Media, finished 25 cents lower at 52 weeks’ low of $4, with 1,010 units changing hands, L.J Williams B share lost 4 cents to finish at $1.40 trading 140 units. Massy Holdings declined by $1.13 to close at $57.37, with an exchange of a mere 17 units, Scotiabank ended at 52 weeks’ low of $54, after losing 35 cents transferring 225 units and Trinidad and Tobago NGL lost 10 cents trading 9,804 shares to settle at $14.65.
Stocks trading firm│ Agostini’s exchanged 40 units at $24.70, Ansa McAL traded 2,021 units at $49, Clico Investments held firm at $25, with a transfer of 2,800 stock units. First Citizens Bank remained at $43.50, trading 2,296 stock units, JMMB Group closed at $1.75, with 16,667 shares crossing the market, Point Lisas exchanged 317 units at $3.15. Prestige Holdings held firm at $7.25 after trading 640 units and Republic Financial Holdings closed at $140, with 54 units changing hands.

Volume dips on the TTSE on Thursday

The majority of stocks trading remained unchanged on Thursday close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, but stocks gaining outpaced those declining after a 49 percent fall in the volume of shares traded with 78 percent lower value than Wednesday.

The market closed with 19 securities trading, up from 14 on Wednesday, and closed with five stocks advancing, three declining and eleven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 89,782 shares for $936,254 compared to 177,082 shares valued $4,263,329 on Wednesday.
The average trade amounted to 4,733 units at $49,308 versus an average of 12,649 units at $304,524 for each security on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 7,978 shares at $115,701 compared to 8,491 units at $126,214 on Wednesday. October ended with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index advanced by 4.85 points to 1,297.84, the All T&T Index climbed 9.43 points to 1,740.31, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.03 points to close at 115.62.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Ansa McAL advanced $4 to $49, with a transfer of 2,201 shares, Guardian Holdings added 25 cents to close at $20.40, in trading 20 units, JMMB Group finished at $1.75, with gains of 2 cents and 3,170 units crossing the market. Massy Holdings added 50 cents to end at $58.50 in trading 5,117 stock units and Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed 14 cents higher at $14.75 after 8,001 stock units changed hands.
Stocks declining│Angostura Holdings shed 45 cents to settle at $16.30, in trading 83 units, National Enterprises lost 5 cents in a transfer of 5,560 stock units to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $3.85 and Republic Financial Holdings fell 90 cents to $140, with an exchange of 28 units.
Stocks trading firm│CinemaOne exchanged 150 units at $4, Clico Investments closed at $25, in transferring 836 units, First Caribbean International Bank traded 20 units at $7.04. First Citizens Bank ended at $43.50, with an exchange of 2,990 stock units, Grace Kennedy closed at $3.65, with 57,006 shares crossing the market, Guardian Media traded 200 units at $4.25. One Caribbean Media held firm at $4.85, with a transfer of 90 units, Prestige Holdings exchanged 20 units at $7.25, Scotiabank held firm at $54.35, with 277 units changing hands. Trinidad Cement ended at $2.06, transferring 4,063 stock units and Unilever Caribbean closed at 16.80, with an exchange of 100 units.
