The Jamaica stock market continued its bullish run on Thursday but with more stocks falling than rising. The market closed with activity in 41 securities, leading to 10,580,654 units valued at $130,174,516 changing hands, in all market segments. A total of 15 securities rose and 19 declined with 4 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing highs.
The JSE Market Index climbed 1,131.62 points to 141,384.12, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,264.65 points to end at 156,961.02 and the JSE combined index gained by 862.81 points to end at 148,254.17.

Ciboney traded 150,077 shares changed hands at 13 cents, Desnoes & Geddes ended with 415,690 shares trading at $30, Grace Kennedy traded 30,840 shares and closed with a fall of 5 cents at $74.50, Jamaica Broilers traded 146,769 shares to close at $8.75. Jamaica Producers rose $2.23 while trading 15,000 shares at $24.74, The Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 25 cents in trading 27,035 shares, to end at $13.25, JMMB Group lost 1 cent while trading 20,300 shares to close at $9.89. Kingston Wharves ended with 120,385 shares changing hands at $11.20 after falling 27 cents, Mayberry Investments closed with 251,020 units trading for 65 cents lower at $4.35, JSE Fn Qts 19-11-15National Commercial Bank closed with a rise of $1.95 cents as 17,842 shares changed hands to end at $38.95 for a new closing 52 weeks’ high. Sagicor Group lost 3 cents in trading 509,550 units at $16.62 at the close. Scotia Group ended with 83,180 shares changing hands, closed with a rise of 15 cents to end at $27.20. Scotia Investments gained 50 cents and ended at $28 with 500 shares changing hands, Seprod rose 70 cents to $18.50 with 1,200 shares trading, Supreme Ventures ended at $4.77 after falling 23 cents with 9,555 shares changing hands and 3 million units of Proven Investments changed hands at 22.9 US cents.

T-bill rates mostly down

Rates of Government of Jamaica Treasury bills which have been on the decline since March 2014 is down in the latest issue held on November 18, for the 182 and 28 day instruments but rose slightly on the 91 days bills.
Rates fell 13 basis points on the 182 days instruments the same as in October and the 28 day instrument declined 28.5 basis points to 6.09 percent but the 91 days rose 2.5 basis points to 6.15 percent.
Tbill mvmnt 11-15At the latest auction, the 28 days Treasury bill average rate came out at 5.91 percent, down from 6.195 percent at October auction.
A total of $707,851,300 chased the $400 million on offer for the 28 days bills, $435 million went after the $400 million on offer for the 90 days instruments and $1.2 billion went after the $400 million offered for 182 days.
The fall in the rates have had a positive impact with the stock market and should continue to impact the fortunes of the market.

A total of 18 securities rose and 16 declined with 6 stocks ending at 52 weeks’ closing high and 2 at intraday high.
The JSE Market Index climbed 1,390.00 points to 139,692.07 the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 1,553.41 points to end at 155,070.06 and the JSE combined index rose by 1,236.54 points to end at 146,425.30.

Desnoes & Geddes ended with 63,357 shares trading at $30.02, Gleaner Company traded at 391,191 shares and gained 1 cent to end at $1.92, Grace Kennedy traded 767,772 shares and closed with loss of 29 cents at $74.01, Jamaica Broilers traded 147,050 shares to close at $8.80 with a gain of 1 cent. Jamaica Producers lost 99 cents while trading 4,924 shares at $24.01, The Jamaica Stock Exchange lost $1.50 in trading 75,600 shares, to end at $12, JMMB Group lost $1.39 while trading 198,116 shares to close at $8.51. Mayberry Investments gained 70 cents and closed with 4,310,131 units trading to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $5, but with only 200 shares trading at $5, and 1,020 at $4.65 with the rest all trading below $4.50. National Commercial Bank closed with a rise of 56 cents as 218,184 shares changing hands to end at $36.56, after trading at an intraday high of $38. JSE Fn Qts 17-11-15Pan Jamaican Investment closed at $88.27 after trading 43,522 shares to gain 4 cents, Pulse Investments traded 108,658 shares with a rise of 20 cents to close at $2, Radio Jamaica traded at $5 after 26,867 shares changed hands, Sagicor Group gained 14 cents in trading 271,321 units at $16.57 at the close. Scotia Group ended with 105,854 shares changing hands, closed with a fall of 17 cents at $26.33, Scotia Investments lost 48 cents and ended at $27.02 with 17,800 shares changing hands, Seprod rose 2 cents to $15.95 with 24,855 shares trading and Supreme Ventures ended at $4.75 after losing 5 cents with 65,893 shares changing hands.

KLE Group gained 9 cents and ended with 20,000 units trading at 74 cents, Lasco Distributors closed with 221,040 shares changing hands, with a gain of 7 cents to $4.38 after trading as high as $4.43. Lasco Financial ended at 52 weeks’ closing high with a rise of 25 cents to $3.50, with a total of 98,155 shares changing hands and Lasco Manufacturing closed at $3.95 with 228,311 shares trading with a loss of 5 cents.

Remittance inflows grow for Jamaica

US$ 100Remittance inflows for Jamaica rose 3.7 percent or US$6.9 million to US$190 million in July this year, over July 2014. For the year to date period total remittance inflows climbed 3.8 percent or US$47.5 million to US$1.28 billion.
After accounting for outflows, net remittances were US$168 million for July, an increase of US$6.9 million or 4.3 percent relative to the corresponding period of 2014. The growth in net remittance inflows reflect an increase in gross remittances while remittance outflows remained unchanged.
Net remittances for 2015 to-date are US$1.154 billion, an increase of US$45 million or 4.1 percent over the corresponding period of 2014. The out-turn for the review period reflected an increase in gross inflows, which was partially offset by a growth in outflows, Bank of Jamaica reported.
The flows for 2015 should exceed the US$2.157 billion the country received in 2014, if the trend continues.

National Commercial Bank hiked their dividend payments for 2015 by 11 in announcing the payment of a final dividend of 85 cents per share, to be paid December 11 with the record date of November 27. NCB paid three interim dividends of 45 cents each, during 2015, the latest brings the total to $2.20 and is up from $1.98 in 2014. The final payment for 2014 was 96 cents with dividend payments amounting to 35 cents per share in August and May and 32 cents per share on February.
The dividends for 2015, represent a yield of 12 percent on the price of the stock at the start of the year of $18.50.
NCB reported profit of $12.3 billion for the year ending September slightly lower than the banking group’s revised 2014 profit of $12.33 billion which is revised upward from $11.6 billion.
For the final quarter profit grew 12 percent to end at $3.75 billion for earnings per share of $1.52 from $3.36 billion in 2014. For the full year earnings per share amounts to $5. Pretax profit for the quarter is up 17 percent to $4.8 billion.
The result for 2014 was revised upward from for earnings per share of $4.73 to $5.01. Earnings should move to the region of $6 per share in 2016.
The 2014 results have in $650 million relating to gains on acquisition of a subsidiary and sale of associated company which makes the 2015 performance much better than it appears. Credit losses fell from $2.3 billion in 2014 to $1.79 billion in 2015 and for the quarter $387 million versus $987 million in 2014.
NCB made decent progress in growing income and keeping cost under control. Loans grew by 5 percent year over year to reach $165 billion, growing this asset will allow for continued growth profitability. The group also enjoyed growth in investment securities and pledged assets which moved from $265 billion to $$276 billion. Customers’ deposits and repurchase agreements that helps to fund asset growth, moved from $337 billion to $328 billion.
NCB shares are listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange and last traded at $34.50.

Consolidated Bakeries ended at $1.90, with 312,000 units changing hands.
