The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded its highest gain ever with a huge jump of 9,440.63 points on All Jamaican Composite index to hit 126,995.43 as Desnoes & Geddes traded 59,126 shares at $25 for an increase of $9.97 to be the main contributor to the gains. Trading in the overall market has been strong with 28 securities being active at 11 am, with a volume of 10,402,800 units as 17 stocks gained and 2 declined.
In Trading, Berger Paints traded 899,350 shares at $2.50, Caribbean Producers exchanged 1,649,403 up to $2.80, General Accident traded 2,000,000 units at $1.75, Jamaica Broilers exchange 601,851 shares at $7 and Lasco Distributors had 3,043,460 units trading at $2.80.
The JSE Market Index rose 8,447.57 points to 114,570.64, the JSE combined index rose 7,451.90 points to be at 118,884.23 and the junior market index fell 58.68 points to 1,199.65.

J$ held ground on Tuesday
The Jamaica dollar held ground against the US dollar on Tuesday with the equivalent of US$39,633,518 being bought by dealers, compared with US$54,993,668 on Monday, while they sold the equivalent of US$28,821,789 versus US$59,279,907 previously.
In US dollar trading , dealers bought US$37,263,331 compared to US$49,143,690 on Monday. The buying rate for the US dollar fell 10 cents to $118.96 and US$26,530,020 was sold versus US$56,411,806 on Monday, the selling rate remained at $119.47. The Canadian dollar buying rate slipped 47 cents to end at $88.59, with dealers buying C$679,495 and selling C$1,238,320, at an average rate that rose 49 cents to $91.91. The rate for buying the British Pound declined 29 cents to $179.95 for the purchase of £1,170,633, while £622,411 was sold, at an average rate that fell $1.05 to $181.55. At the end of trading, it took J$135.86 to purchase the Euro, with a rise of $27 from Monday’s rate, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$133.37 for a gain of 30 cents on Monday’s rate. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded, amounts to US$93,293 being bought, while US$393,340 was sold.
Highs & Lows| The highest buying rate for the US dollar added 5 cents on Tuesday to end at $119.75, the lowest buying rate ended unchanged at $97.95, the highest selling gained 43 cents to close at $126.05 and the lowest selling rate climbed $1.94 to end at $99.88. The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar rose 30 cents to $92, the lowest buying rate rose 42 cents to be at $73.46, the highest selling rate gained $1.47 to end at $95.80 and the lowest selling rate fell $2 to $86. The highest buying rate for the British Pound, rose $2 to end at $185.20. The lowest buying rate climbed 63 cents to $147.91, the highest selling rate dropped $1.87 to $188 and the lowest selling rate lost 30 cents to close at $176.

Gains|Sagicor Financial Corporation closed with 131,000 shares valued at $784,690 changing hands, to end at $5.99,after adding 4 cents, JMMB Group traded with a gain of 1 cent to end at 43 cents while 2,727 shares changed hands and Trinidad Cement ended with a gain of 1 cent to a 52 weeks’ high of $3.16 with 5,000 shares changing hands.
Losses| Massy Holdings traded only 3 shares, the price ended with a loss of 2 cents at $62.46.

Junior market index touched 1,300 points
Lasco Manufacturing traded at a new high of $4 and pushed the junior market index 1,300 points in early trading but by 11am the price drifted down to $3.55 and the index was down to 1,161.69 and is up by 31.70 for another record over Monday’s close.
The JSE Market Index rose 237.68 points to 106,890.93. The JSE All Jamaican Composite index gained 265.63 points to 118,412.93, the JSE combined index rose 507.48 points to be at 112,187.67.
A total of 19 securities traded at 11 am with a volume of a mere 991,123 units, 11 stocks gained 5 declined.
J$ gave more ground on Monday
The Jamaica dollar lost more ground against all the three major counter path currencies it trades against on Monday. The equivalent of US$54,993,668 was bought by dealers, compared with US$46,945,905 on Friday, while they sold the equivalent of US$59,279,907 versus US$41,528,759 previously.
In US dollar trading , dealers bought US$49,143,690 compared to US$44,372,877 on Friday. The buying rate for the US dollar climbed 8 cents to $119.06 and US$56,411,806 was sold versus US$40,477,427 on Friday, the selling rate rose 5 cents to $119.47. The Canadian dollar buying rate slipped 18 cents to end at $89.06, with dealers buying C$1,530,791 and selling C$810,546, at an average rate that rose 33 cents to $91.42 The rate for buying the British Pound gained $1.32 to $180.24 for the purchase of £2,770,653, while £1,319,350 was sold, at an average rate that climbed $2.39 to $182.59. At the end of trading, it took J$135.59 to purchase the Euro, with a rise of $1 from Friday’s rate, according to data from Bank of Jamaica, while dealers purchased the European common currency at J$133.07, for a gain of $1.23 from Friday’s rate. The US dollar equivalent of other currencies traded, amounts to US$510,322 being bought, while US$231,334 was sold.
Highs & Lows| The highest buying rate for the US dollar lost 5 cents on Monday to end at $119.70, the lowest buying rate ended unchanged at $97.95, the highest selling added 11 cents to close at $125.62 and the lowest selling rate dived $18.06 to end at $97.94. The highest buying rate for the Canadian dollar slipped $1.96 to $91.70, the lowest buying rate rose 41 cents to be at $73.04, the highest selling rate gained 27 cents to end at $94.33 and the lowest selling rate climbed 50 cents to $88.
