The Composite Index lost 0.94 points to 1,205.44, the All T&T Index fell 1.22 points to 1,833.20 with its year to date loss at 5.92 percent. The Cross Listed Index was down 0.10 points to 77.19 with year to date gain of 55.91 percent.

The announcement by CEMEX on Monday that one of its indirect subsidiaries will be presenting a bid to acquire shares to take the ownership of the Cemex group to just under 75 percent of the TCL, for TT$4.50 per share, to all Trinidad Cement shareholders in Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago seemed to have helped to push the price of the stock in the day’s trading.
Market activity on Monday saw an increase in trading levels with volume and value rising strongly as 11 securities traded compared to 7 on Friday. Trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday slumped in contrast to the market’s activity on Wednesday. Trinidad Cement advanced 4 percent following the company announcing of an agreement to transfer TT$20 million to First Citizens Bank on behalf of some workers, to be used to acquire shares in the company.
The shares to be acquired would approximate to around 6 million units based on the current stock price.
Trading ended with 12 securities changing hands, the same in number as Wednesday with 2 advancing, 3 declining and 7 remaining unchanged as a mere 25,307 shares changed hands with a value of $525,554, in contrast to Wednesday’s volume of 184,035 valued at $4,500,237.
The Composite Index lost 0.36 points to 1,205.44 points, the All T&T Index was down 0.38 points to 1,827.89 points, down 6.19 percent year to date. The Cross Listed Index eased 0.04 points to 77.93 points with year to date gains of 57.40 percent.

Huge price gap in T&T cross listings

Market activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday closed with huge arbitrage opportunities for investors in some cross listed stocks. Elsewhere, trading resulted in double digit gains in Composite and All T&T Indices helped by a 7.3 percent jump in the price of Ansa McAL.
Grace Kennedy is trading at a 24 percent premium compared to the price in Jamaica, the premium for JMMB Group is over 26 percent, National Commercial Bank trades above the Jamaica listed price, by 14 percent and Scotia Investments by 22 percent. Tightness in the foreign exchange market may be causing the huge gap in prices.
