More gains for JSE Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher for the sixth time out of the last seven trading days and recovered 47,260.76 points of the losses in March, to be up 13 percent from the recent lows of 375,091.09 points, reached on 25th of March on the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index.             

JSE Main market continuing to bounce off resistance at 375,000 points reached on March 25.

At the close of the market on Friday, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 4,851.68 points to 422,351.85, the JSE Market Index climbed 4,394.76 points to 384,905.24 and the JSE Financial Index added 1.51 points to 105.44.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 25 stocks advancing, 15 declining and 4 securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 42 securities accounting for 33,384,287 units valued at $221,730,878, in contrast to 19,058,509 units valued at $80,731,137 from 40 securities on Thursday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 21.5 million shares for 64.4 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 2.6 million units for 7.9 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.9 million units for 5.6 percent market share. Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund ended with 1.1 million shares and was the only other stock trading more than one million units.
The Market closed with an average of 794,864 units valued at an average of $5,279,307 for each security traded, in contrast to 476,463 units valued at an average of $2,018,278 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 613,607 units valued at $3,409,226 for each security changing hands. Trading in March resulted in an average of 1,146,245 units valued at $7,550,295 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows nine stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two stocks closing with lower offers. The PE ratio of the market ended at 14.2, while the Main Market ended at 14.4 times 2020/21 earnings.
In the Main Market, Barita Investments climbed $5 to reach $58, with 41,623 shares changing hands, Berger Paints fell $3 to $11.50, after trading 24,768 units, Caribbean Cement added 54 cents to close $43.49, in swapping 61,554 shares. Eppley closed $1 higher at $16, with14,000 units crossing the exchange, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $4 to end at $35, in trading a mere 200 units, First Rock Capital lost 50 cents to finish at $10, with a transfer of 17,200 units. Grace Kennedy shed 60 cents to close at $57 in exchanging 722,937 shares, Jamaica Broilers gained 52 cents, in swapping 291,710 shares to end at $32.52, Jamaica Producers picked up 41 cents to close at $19.11 after trading 5,891 units. Kingston Wharves closed 50 cents higher to finish at $44, with 21,556 units traded, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy advanced $5 to $140 after exchanging 1,512 stock units, NCB Financial Group climbed to $152.91, with gains of $2.66 with 265,789 shares changing hands. PanJam Investments fell by $2 to $76 in swapping 225,872 shares, Portland JSX shed 70 cents to finish at $7.30, with an exchange of 38,667 units, Proven Investments closed at $39.70, after rising $2.20 and trading 11,126 units. Sagicor Group picked up 81 cents to end at $48.75, in transferring 73,620 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed 45 cents lower at $7.25 with 81,200 stock units crossing the exchange, Salada Foods jumped $6 to $36, after exchanging 59,400 units. Seprod closed $1.50 higher to $49.50, with a transfer of 65,614 shares and Supreme Ventures gained 40 cents to end at $14.40, with 248,813 shares changing hands.

JSE US market slipped moderately

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, US dollar market Index, lost 1.47 points to close at 207.23 with five securities changing hands. At the close of trading, the PE ratio of the market was an average of 14.3 times 2020 earnings.
The market closed with three stocks rising and two declining. The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 827,966 shares valued at US$14,632 compared to 651,114 shares valued at US$42,388 on Thursday.
IC bid-offer Indicator The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of two stocks higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
Market activity resulted in, accounting for 651,114 units traded with a value of US$36,182, in contrast to 486,504 units for US$42,388 on Wednesday.
In trading, First Rock Capital rose by 0.1 of a cent to end at 9.1 US cents, after 27,143 stock units crossed the exchange, Proven Investments exchanged 274,694 shares with a rise of one cent to close at 27 US cents. Sygnus Credit Investments shed 1.5 cents to end at 15 US cents, in swapping 21,500 units and Trans Jamaican Highway fell 0.07 of a cent in accounting for 60 percent of the day’s volume ended with an exchange of 500,00 shares at 1 US cent. In the preference section, JMMB Group 6% traded just 629 shares to close at US$1.

Bleeding halted on TTSE on Friday

Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange Head Quarters

Trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended on Friday with the two major indices recording gains as the T&T Composite Index advanced 3.83 points to 1,274.98, the All T&T Index climbed 7.60 points to end at 1,716.07 and the Cross Listed Index remained at 112.73.
The market closed with twelve securities changing hands to close out the week and ending with one stock rising, two stocks declining, while nine were unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 347,297 shares valued at $9,821,563 compared to 259,334 shares for $6,560,430 on Thursday.
IC bid-offer Indicator The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and six with lower offers.
Gainers│ West Indian Tobacco, the sole stock advancing, closed at $33.75, with gains of $3.75 after exchanging 1,230 stock units, but closed with an offer to sell 6,000 below the last traded price, at $30.93.
Losers│ First Citizens lost 2 cents to end the day at $37.99, after transferring 12,310 units and L.J Williams B share closed at $1.62, with a loss of 3 cents trading 50 stock units.
Firm Trades│ Clico Investments swapped 9,241 stock units at $21.50, Guardian Holdings traded 4,008 units at $17.93, Massy Holdings closed at $48, with 24,651 shares changing hands. NCB Financial had 224,118 shares transferred at $7.25, One Caribbean Media ended at $6.50 after exchanging 50 units, Republic Financial Holdings closed at $141.48, with 37,572 shares crossing the market. Scotiabank traded 16,699 units at $55, Trinidad Cement exchanged 839 stock units at $1.75 and Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended at $18.75, with a transfer of 16,529 stock units.

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange surged on Friday with MailPac dominating the market, just over 22 million shares accounting for 86 percent of the market share.

Market activity closed with 33 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 25,469,094 units valued at $48,110,589 compared to 13,283,703 units valued at $24,888,541 on Thursday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 20 securities advanced, 6 declined and six remained unchanged. The Junior Market Index advanced by 11.40 points to close at 2,474.60. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 9.3 based on 2020/21 earnings.
Trading ended with an average of 771,791 units at $1,457,897 for each security traded,  in contrast to 390,697 units for an average of $732,016 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 451,335 valued at $885,272 and previously 298,258 units valued at $611,409. In contrast, March closed with an average of 226,230 units, valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

More recovery for JSE Main Market

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher on reduced volume less dollar valued than on Wednesday as three stocks rose for every two that declined, leading to the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index jumping 3,216.72 points to 417,500.17. The JSE Market Index climbed 2,911.92 points to 380,510.48 and the JSE Financial Index adding just 0.30 points to 103.93.
The market closed with 45 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with prices of 21 stocks advancing, 14 declining and ten securities trading firm. JSE Main Market activity ended with 40 securities accounting for 19,058,509 units valued at $80,731,137, in contrast to 22,417,248 units valued at $113,463,573 from 40 securities on Wednesday.
Trans Jamaican Highway led trading with 10.3 million shares for 54.3 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 3.4 million units for 17.7 percent of the day’s trade and Wisynco Group with 1.4 million units for 7 percent of the market share. Sagicor Select Financial Fund was the only other stock trading more than one million units, with 1.05 million shares.
The Market closed with an average of 476,463 units valued at an average of $2,018,278 for each security traded, in contrast to 560,431 units valued at an average of $2,836,589 on Wednesday. Trading in March resulted in an average of 1,146,245 units valued at $7,550,295 for each security.

Junior Market rapidly clawing back March losses

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange enjoyed another day of outstanding gains in the market index of 69.27 points to close at 2,463.20 in trading on Thursday, the fifth day of substantial gains in a row, lifting the index 369 points since last week Friday.
Thursday gains reduced the market losses for the year, from a high of 39.3 percent in March to 26.5 percent presently. At the close of market activities, prices of 16 securities advanced, eight declined and ten remained unchanged with 34 securities changing hands. Trading resulted in an exchange of 13,283,703 units for $24,888,541 compared to 7,297,716 units at $17,298,654 on Wednesday. The average PE ratio of the Junior Market ended at 9.1 based on 2020/21 earnings.
Trading ended with an average of 390,697 units at $732,016 for each security traded, in contrast to 208,506 units for an average of $494,247 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 298,258 units valued at $611,409, which is higher than the average in March of 226,230 units, valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

JSE US dollar market jumps over 3%

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, US dollar market, rose by 3.2 percent with the market index climbing 6.44 points to close at 208.70, with the year to date decline being 7.7 percent. At the close of trading, the PE ratio of the market was an average of 14.5 times 2020 earnings.
Market activity resulted in five securities changing hands, accounting for 651,114 units traded with a value of US$36,182, in contrast to 486,504 units for US$42,388 on Wednesday.
In trading activity, First Rock Capital rose by 0.9 of a cent to end at 9 US cents, after 4,100 stock units crossed the exchange, Proven Investments exchanged 114,693 shares at 26 US cents, Sterling Investments rose half a cent to 2.5 US cents after trading 10,000 units. Sygnus Credit Investments climbed 4.5 cents higher to 16.5 US cents in swapping 1,000 units and Trans Jamaican Highway in accounting for 80 percent of the day’s volume ended with an exchange of 521,321 shares at 1.07 US cents.

Moderate changes to TTSE – Thursday

The recent sharp decline of the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange in March and on Wednesday, slowed sharply on Thursday, with reduced trading activity as the market closed with eleven securities trading of which the prices of two rose and five declined, while four remained unchanged.
The volume of stocks passing through the market fell to 259,334 shares valued at $6,560,430 compared to 314,207 shares for $6,827,361 on Wednesday.
At the end of trading, the T&T Composite Index declined marginally by 2.29 points to 1,271.15. The All T&T Index gained just 0.57 points to end at 1,708.47 while the Cross Listed Index slipped 0.71 points to end at 112.73.

Gainers│ Calypso Macro Index Fund gained $2 trading 3,030 stock units and closed at $16 and Massy Holdings climbed $3 to $48, with 87,890 shares changing hands.
Losers│ First Citizens shed 25 cents to end at $38.01, in exchanging 17,442 units, NCB Financial lost 1 cent transferring 68,446 shares and closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $7.25, Republic Financial Holdings ended at $141.48, with a loss of 1 cent in swapping 650 stock units. Trinidad & Tobago NGL shed 25 cents to close at $18.75, after exchanging 27,043 units and Unilever Caribbean fell by 10 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $18.90, with 589 stock units crossing the market.
Firm Trades│ Clico Investments ended at $21.50, after transferring 18,609 units, Guardian Holdings traded 7,280 stock units at $17.93, JMMB Group closed at $2, with 25,000 shares crossing the market and Scotiabank exchanged 3,355 units at $55.

Junior Market recovery gains grounds

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market Index surged 89.79 points to close at 2,393.93 as trading ended on Wednesday with 35 securities changing hands, 13 securities advanced, 12 declined and ten remained unchanged. resulting in an exchange of 7,297,716 units valued at $17,298,654 compared to 14,255,673 units valued at $34,934,660 on Tuesday.
Trading ended with an average of 208,506 units for an average of $494,247 in contrast to 431,990 units for an average of $1,058,626 on Tuesday. In contrast, March closed with an average of 226,230 units valued at $542,563 for each security traded.

At the close of the market, Access Financial ended market activity exchanging 4,238 shares to close at $23 after falling $3, Caribbean Assurance Brokers lost 11 cents in trading 283,523 shares to close at $2,  Caribbean Cream ended with 30,529 shares changing hands, after rising 1 cent to end at $2.81. Consolidated Bakeries ended market activity, exchanging 45,100 shares to close at $1.32 after falling 3 cents,  Dolphin Cove gained $1.25 to end at $7.75, trading 150 stock units, Derrimon Trading shed 2 cents with ownership of 118,857 units being switched and closed at $1.83, Everything Fresh shed 12 cents in trading of 65,000 units at 65 cents. Fontana closed 31 cents higher at $5.30, with 874,689 stock units crossing the exchange, Fosrich declined 31 cents in trading of 50,250 units at $2.58,  Honey Bun close market activity with a loss of 50 cents in ending at $6, after 68,861 shares changed hands. iCreate closed 2 cents higher at 53 cents, with 8,542 stock units trading.  Iron Rock Insurance fell 50 cents in trading of 5,100 units at $2.50, ISP Finance climbed $2.50 to settle at $16 with 104 shares changing hands, Lasco Distributors closed trading of 47,412 units and gained 2 cents to end at $3. Paramount Trading fell 4 cents to close at $1.90, after swapping 19,724 shares, SSL Venture closed 4 cents higher at $1.04, with 11,490 stock units crossing the exchange and Stationery and Office Supplies gained $1.30 to end at $7, trading 11,190 shares.
In the junior market preference segment, Derrimon Trading declined by 15 cents to settle at $1.65 after an exchange of 14,600 units.

TTSE starts April with a huge drop

Prices of several stocks plunged on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, taking the market 8.6 percent for the year to date and almost wiping all of the 2019 gains as eight stocks closed at 52 weeks’ lows. The T&T Composite Index plunged 43.70 points to 1,273.44. The All T&T Index dived 32.67 points to end at 1,707.90 while the Cross Listed Index fell by 7.47 points at 113.44.
Stocks with the largest declines were, Massy Holdings, with a fall of $5, NCB Financial down $1.24, One Caribbean Media losing 45 cents, Scotiabank sliding $1.95 to $55 in swapping 81,671 shares and West Indian Tobacco declined by $3.81.
The market closed with three stocks rising and nine declining, while four remained unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market rose to 314,207 shares valued at $6,827,361 compared to 156,887 shares for $4,178,343 on Tuesday.
