Twelve stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing highs as the Jamaica Stock Exchange main market exploded by the close of trading with the main indices jumping between 2,496 and 2,870 points, as JMMB Group jumped to $11.10, National Commercial Bank moved to a record close of $42, Sagicor group jumped to a new closing high of $22.
The JSE Market Index surged 2,568.62 points to 154,252.66, the all Jamaica Composite Index soared by 2,870.57 points to end at 171,342.34 and the JSE combined index leapt 2,496.15 points to close at 162,129.73.
At the close, 17,158,401 units valued at $122,672,205 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for of 3,347,529 units changed hands, valued at $9,025,299. Trading was broad based with a total of 44 active securities in all market segments as 25 in the combined markets rising and 10 declining.
The main market seems on its way to 185,000 points level the nest major area of resistance having been moving well away from resistance around the 165,000 points level on the all Jamaica composite index.

The Jamaica stock market started the new-year where it left off the old with all three main indices making generous gains to reach new records. The JSE Market Index climbed 777.23 points to 151,469.36, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 868.60 points to end at 168,231.85 and the JSE combined index gained 945.76 points to close at 159,214.90.
At the close, 5,096,460 units valued at $149,875,337 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for of 1,707,388 units, valued at $6,741,784. A total of 35 securities traded in all market segments, 17 of which in the combined markets gained and 8 declined. Five stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing high and 2 at intraday 52 weeks’ high as investors continue to push prices higher.
The main market was facing resistance around the 165,000 points level, the on the all Jamaica composite index, now that it has crossed it and seems to be moving away. This level appears to be moving towards support for the market.

The Jamaica stock market ended a momentous 2015 with all three main indices making generous gains to reach new record highs, with the JSE combined market index recording gains of 102 percent for the year to date and the all Jamaica composite up 99 percent.
At the close, 6,627,296 units valued at $58,113,757 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 4,049,568 units, valued at $15,799,898. A total of 36 securities traded in all market segments, 19 of which in the combined markets gained and 8 declined. Four stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at intraday 52 weeks’ high as investors continue to push prices higher.
At the close the JSE Market Index climbed 874.37 points to 150,692.13, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 977.16 points to end at 167,363.25 and the JSE combined index gained 815.65 points to close at 158,269.14. At the close, 52,944,749 units valued at $911,064,403 changed hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 886,844 units, valued at $4,712,436.
Trading was swollen by the sale of Grace Kennedy’s 58.15 percent interest it held in Hardware & Lumber (H&L), with the shares traded over the Jamaica Stock Exchange floor today by GK Capital Management amounting to 47,013,417 at $18.50 per share. A total of 47,076,054 shares were traded amounting to $870,892,021.
At the close 33 securities traded in all market segments. A total 15 securities in the combined markets gained and 6 declined. Five stocks traded at 52 weeks’ closing high and 1 at intraday 52 weeks’ high as investors continue to push prices higher.
At the close the JSE Market Index climbed 1,322.30 points to 149,817.76, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,477.75 points to end at 166,386.09 and the JSE combined index gained 1,838.65 points to close at 157,453.49. The main market recorded another day of gains on Wednesday, but a negative advance decline ratio, the main indices enjoyed just moderate gains. The market closed with 5,617,754 units valued at $48,826,282 changing hands, in all market segments with 34 securities trading.
The junior market accounted for 2,721,358 units, valued at $9,118,051 as 11 stocks gained, 14 declined, 1 stock closed at a 52 weeks’ high and 2 traded at an intraday high but pulled back before the close.
While the main market indices rose, the gains were very low at under 300 points each with the JSE Market Index climbing just 53.41 points to 144,257.93, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose a mere 59.69 points to end at 160,172.67 and the JSE combined index added 287.46 points thanks to gains in the junior market to close at 150,737.24.

IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator had a good reading of 15 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 with lower offers.
In trading, Cable and Wireless rose 1 cent with only 110,997 units changing hands to close at $1.31, Caribbean Cement closed trading at $18.20, with 25,936 shares changing hands. Carreras fell 85 cents in closing at $59.05 with a mere 250 units trading, Ciboney traded at 27 cents with 215,700 units changing hands, Grace Kennedy declined by $1, with 3,246 units changing hands, to finish at $78. Jamaica Broilers traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $10.50, by the close the price fell 65 cents in trading 65,576 shares, to close at $8.60, Jamaica Producers jumped $2.99 in trading 3,125 units at $31, the Jamaica Stock Exchange shares traded 23,288 units at $19, but traded at a new intraday 52 weeks’ high of $19.05.JSE Fn Qts 16-12-15 Kingston Wharves saw trading in 5,500 shares at $11.40 as the price slipped 10 cents, Mayberry Investments gained 30 cents with 400,114 units changing hands to end at $5, National Commercial Bank fell 14 cents and ended at $38.36 with 17,175 units changing hands, Pan Jamaican Investment had 4,581 units changing hands at $93. Radio Jamaica rose by 60 cents and landed at $3.60 with 24,000 shares trading, Sagicor Group closed with 1,867,437 units changing hands but the price fell by 25 cents to end at $16.75, Scotia Group dropped $1.89 with 55,916 shares changing hands at $28.11. Seprod traded 5,000 shares at $20.50, Supreme Ventures fell 30 cents to end at $4.35 with 61,988 units changing hands and Proven Investments fell 0.9 US cent as 37,468 shares traded to close at 22 US cents.
