Stocks mostly rise on TTSE on Friday

Stock prices mostly rose in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, sending the market indices higher after 52 percent fewer shares and 71 percent lower value changed hands compared to Thursday.
Ansa Merchant Bank jumped $3.11 on the news of its intention to acquire all the shares in Bank of Baroda (Trinidad and Tobago).
The market closed with 15 securities trading, similar to Thursday and ended with six stocks advancing, three declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 192,797 shares for $2,859,811 compared to 399,542 shares valued $9,719,737 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 12,853 units at $190,654 versus an average of 26,636 units at $647,982 for each security on Thursday. Month to date averaged 10,981 shares at $129,455 compared to 10,884 units at $126,268 on Thursday. October averaged 16,922 shares at $285,061 for each security.
The T&T Composite Index advanced by 5.21 points to 1,286.72, the All T&T Index climbed 8.32 points to 1,714.39, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.28 points to close at 116.16.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of six stocks higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Agostini’s gained 25 cents trading 200 shares to close at $24.50, Ansa McAL added $1.50 to end at $51.50, in exchanging 11,500 stock units, Ansa Merchant Bank climbed $3.11 to $39.50, with a transfer of 1,056 units. First Citizens Bank rose 50 cents to $43.50, with 5,200 stocks changing hands, Grace Kennedy ended 10 cents higher at $3.70, in trading 89 units and JMMB Group added 2 cents to settle at $1.82, with 111,820 shares crossing the market.
Stocks declining│ Guardian Holdings shed 10 cents to finish at $20.40, in transferring 1,000 shares, One Caribbean Media lost 2 cents trading 4,651 stock units at $4.80 and Republic Financial Holdings declined by $3 to $133, with an exchange of 950 units.
Stocks trading firm│ Clico Investments closed unchanged at $25, trading 17,075 shares, Guardian Media transferred 2,182 units at $3.50, NCB Financial Group held firm at $8 after exchanging 2,544 stock units. Scotiabank ended at $54, with 16,737 shares changing hands, Trinidad and Tobago NGL traded 14,252 stock units at $14.50 and Unilever Caribbean closed at $16.70, with a transfer of 3,541 units.

Market inched higher for TTSE stocks

Market volume rose sharply by 886 percent and led to the value jumping 13 times Wednesday’s trade on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange at the close on Thursday, but the impact on the market indices was marginal.

The market closed with 15 securities trading, up from 14 on Wednesday, and ended with four stocks, each advancing and declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 399,542 shares for $9,719,737 compared to just 40,527 shares valued at $676,306 on Wednesday and ended with two stocks closing at 52 weeks’ lows.
The trade for the day averaged 26,636 units at $647,982 versus 2,895 units at $48,308 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 10,884 shares at $126,268 compared to 10,018 units at $131,742 on Wednesday. October trading resulted in an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index gained 1.51 points to 1,281.51, the All T&T Index rose 1.82 points to 1,706.07, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.08 points to close at 115.88.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of seven stocks higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
Stocks rising│ Angostura Holdings climbed 45 cents to $16.45, trading 303 shares, Ansa McAL advanced $2 to $50, in exchanging 45,827 units, JMMB Group gained 3 cents to end at $1.80, with 100,000 stock units crossing the market and Republic Financial Holdings inched 1 cent higher to $136, after transferring 40,831 shares.
Stocks declining│ Grace Kennedy ended 5 cents lower at $3.60, with an exchange of 121,940 shares, Massy Holdings declined $2 to $57 after transferring 180 units, Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed at a 52 weeks’ lows of $14.50, after losing 10 cents trading 10,145 stock units and Unilever Caribbean lost 9 cents to finish at a 52 weeks’ low of $16.70, with 299 units changing hands.
Stocks trading firm│ Clico Investments remained at $25 trading 12,230 stock units, First Caribbean International Bank closed at $7.05 after transferring 500 units, First Citizens Bank held firm at $43, with 4,800 stock units changing hands. Trading dropped on Wednesday with 83 percent fewer shares changing hands as 83 percent less funds changed hands compared to Tuesday on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. At the close, the major indices bounced but failed to wipe the sizable declines on Tuesday.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, down from twenty on Tuesday, and ended with six stocks advancing, two declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 40,527 shares for $676,306 compared to 236,245 shares valued $3,864,740 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 2,895 units at $48,308 versus an average of 11,812 units at $193,237 for each security on Tuesday. For the month to date, averaged 10,018 shares at $131,742 compared to 10,403 units at $136,252 on Tuesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index rose 4.43 points to 1,280.30, the All T&T Index advanced by 5.50 points to 1,704.25, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.46 points to close at 115.80.

Just one stock rose at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, but 12 declined, sending the major market indices into a slide with Ansa Merchant Bank and Republic Financial Holdings suffered multi-dollar declines.

The market closed with 20 securities trading, up from fourteen on Monday. At the close, the prices of seven stocks remained unchanged. Trading resulted in 38 percent fewer shares than on Monday with values climbing 151 percent as 236,245 shares costing $3,864,740 changed hands compared to 382,748 shares valued $1,536,873, on Monday.
Trading averaged 11,812 units at $193,237 versus an average of 27,339 units at $109,777 for each security on Monday. For the month to date, trading averaged 10,403 shares at $136,252 compared to 10,286 units at $131,483 on Monday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index dropped 8.23 points to 1,275.87, the All T&T Index plunged 18.15 points to 1,698.75, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.25 points to close at 115.34.

More than 75 percent of the securities traded held their price for a second day at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday as the main indices dipped, after an exchange of 149 percent more shares, at a 45 percent greater value than Wednesday.
The market closed with 13 securities trading, down from fifteen on Wednesday, and ended with two stocks advancing, one declining and ten remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 206,882 shares for $1,738,641 compared to 82,960 shares valued $1,200,746 on Wednesday.
The average trade amounted to 15,914 units at $133,742 versus an average of 5,531 units at $80,050 on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 8.936 shares at $125,534 compared to 8,483 units at $125,000 on Wednesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
At the close, the T&T Composite Index shed 1.22 points to 1,289.64, the All T&T Index fell 2.42 points to 1,726.71, while the Cross Listed Index was unchanged at 115.25.

Volume dips on the TTSE on Thursday

The majority of stocks trading remained unchanged on Thursday close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, but stocks gaining outpaced those declining after a 49 percent fall in the volume of shares traded with 78 percent lower value than Wednesday.

The average trade amounted to 4,733 units at $49,308 versus an average of 12,649 units at $304,524 for each security on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 7,978 shares at $115,701 compared to 8,491 units at $126,214 on Wednesday. October ended with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

The primary indices fell for a second consecutive day in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The number of shares exchanged, led by volume leader Clico Investments, was 35 percent higher than Tuesday with values climbing 345 percent.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, up from 20 on Tuesday, and closed with five stocks advancing, seven declining and two remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 177,082 shares for $4,263,329 compared to 101,236 shares valued $958,604 on Tuesday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 12,649 units at $304,524 versus an average of 5,062 units at $47,930 for each security on Tuesday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 8,491 shares at $126,214 compared to 7,942 units at $102,663 on Tuesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index shed 2.91 points to 1,292.99, the All T&T Index declined by 7.08 points to 1,730.88, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.18 points to close at 115.59.

Big fall for T&T stocks

All indices fell sharply in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, ending with an exchange of 128 percent more shares and a 47 percent increase in values compared to Monday’s trading.
The number of securities trading surged to 20, from just nine on Monday, and closed with two stocks advancing, seven declining and eleven remaining unchanged. The T&T Composite Index declined by 6.22 points to 1,295.90, the All T&T Index dropped 10.47 points to 1,737.96, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.26 points to close at 115.41.
Trading resulted in 101,236 shares for $958,604 compared to 44,369 shares valued $653,487 on Monday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 5,062 units at $47,930 versus an average of 4,930 units at $72,610 for each security on Monday. Avalanche of falling TTSE stock prices

Falling prices hit the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday resulted in more than half of the stocks traded declining and sending the primary indices sharply down from the close on Tuesday.
The T&T Composite Index declined by 4.94 points to 1,296.97, the All T&T Index dived 14.16 points to 1,738.39, the Cross Listed Index gained 0.50 points to close at 115.65 after 19 securities trading, up from sixteen on Tuesday, and closed with three stocks advancing, eleven declining and five remaining unchanged.

Stocks declining│ Ansa McAL lost $1 and ended at $49, after exchanging 500 units, CinemaOne lost 40 cents trading 160 units to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $4, Clico Investments shed 24 cents to settle at $25.01, with 51,020 shares changing hands. First Citizens Bank fell $2 to $41.50, with 4,870 stock units crossing the exchange, Grace Kennedy finished 10 cents lower at $3.60, in trading 267 units, Guardian Holdings lost 10 cents to close at $20, exchanging 9,084 stock units. Guardian Media shed 50 cents, ending at a 52 weeks’ low of $4.45 with 3,744 units changing hands, JMMB Group finished at $1.73 after losing 6 cents, transferring 161,500 shares. One Caribbean Media lost 5 cents trading 10,000 stock units to settle at $4.80. Republic Financial Holdings ended at $141.30, with a loss of 20 cents, exchanging 78 units and Trinidad Cement lost 5 cents to close at $2.05, with a transfer of 550 units.

Trading activity surged on Tuesday with the volume of stocks rising 113 percent above Monday’s level with an increase of 58 percent in value on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange compared to Monday, with all the market indices declining.

The market closed with 16 securities trading, up from 11 on Monday, and closed with five stocks advancing, four declining and seven remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 134,538 shares for $1,341,715 compared to 62,793 shares valued $849,435 on Monday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 8,409 units at $83,857 versus an average of 5,708 units at $77,221 for each security on Monday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 7,309 shares at $81,154 compared. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index dropped 2.92 points to 1,301.91, the All T&T Index declined by 2.17 points to 1,752.55, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.50 points to close at 115.05.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bid of one stock higher than its last selling price and three with lower offers.
Stocks rising│Clico Investments closed at $25.25, with gains of 5 cents exchanging 4,750 stock units, Grace Kennedy rose 10 cents to end at $3.70, in trading 40,321 shares, JMMB gained 4 cents transferring 3,050 units to settle at $1.79. National Flour gained 10 cents to close at $2, with 47,461 shares changing hands and West Indian Tobacco picked up one cent in an exchange of 9,772 stock units in closing at $33.45.
Stocks declining│First Citizens Bank fell $1 to $43.50, in trading 2,360 units, L.J Williams B share lost 4 cents to finish at $1.40 exchanging 2,000 units, NCB Financial Group shed 12 cents to close at $7.88, with 450 units crossing the market and Scotiabank declined by $1.19 to settle at a 52 weeks’ low of $54.30, after a transfer of 350 units.
Stocks trading firm│ Calypso Macro Index Fund remained at $14 with trades of 1,500 units, First Caribbean International Bank ended at $7.04, in a transfer of 946 units, Guardian Holdings exchanged 3,345 stock units at $20.10.
