Trading ended with the prices of 13 securities gained out of a total of 41 trading, while 9 declined in the overall market, including 3 stocks rising and 5 falling, in the junior market.
At the close 3,098,446 units valued at $40,569,011, changed hands, compared to the 3,375,381 units valued at $114,125,679 changing hands on Tuesday. The junior market accounted for 759,344 units valued at $3,870,697 of the stocks traded.
At the close, the JSE Market Index garnered 1,178.43 points to end at 163,111.09. The all Jamaica Composite Index rose 1,317.90 points to close at 181,249.54 and the JSE combined index climbed 1,138.30 points, to end at 175,576.51.

JSE majors give up 1,200 points – Thursday

Palace jumps $25 to close at $195 on Thursday.
At the close of the market prices of 14 securities gained out of a total of 38 trading, while 12 declined in the overall market, including 7 stocks rising and 3 falling, in the junior market. Palace Amusement was the star performer with a jump of $25 to a new record high of $195 but with only 500 shares trading. National Commercial Bank dropped $1.94 to close at $40.06 with 595,832 shares changing hands.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, saw big gains in the market indices with the junior market out pacing the gains with a jump of 42 points or 1.8 percent and led the combined index to gain over 1,000 points in the early morning session.
The market commenced the week with more than 1 million shares each trading in Cable & Wireless 1,591,675 units as the price held firm, Carreras traded 1,136,267 units as the price fell 50 cents for and National Commercial Bank had 319,588 shares trading at $40. Volume traded in other stocks was very moderate.
Barita Investments traded 9,250 shares at $3.51 with the price gaining 26 cents, Mayberry Investments traded 500 and gained 35 cents to $3.85, Seprod gained 99 cents in trading 1,000 shares at $21.50 and Jamaican Teas gained 40 cents in trading 27,700 shares at $4.
At 10:45 am 20 securities traded, resulting in a volume of 3,175,290 shares changing hands compared to 33,336,371 shares carrying a value of $1,215,936,825 on Friday. The average number of shares traded amounts to 158,765 units compared to 1,515,290 units on Friday. The number of stocks falling are 4 while the prices of 9 securities rose as the market continues to consolidate.

Jamaican stocks again saw more prices rising than falling but the market indices incurred losses nevertheless at the end of trading on Wednesday. Unlike the previous two days with extremely low volumes trading levels climbed sharply by the close of the market with 5,711,945 units valued at $60,243,332, well up from the 2,652,003 units valued at $16,996,985 changing hands on Tuesday’s with, the junior market accounting for 1,483,909 units valued at $6,870,963.

National Commercial Bank had 14,983 units changing hands and gained 50 cents to close at $40.50, Pan Jamaican Investments dipped 50 cents and closed at $24, after trading 6,975 shares, Sagicor Group rose 39 cents with 8,426 shares changing hands at $22.40, Scotia Group dropped $1.69 to close at $29.70 with 9,201 shares changing hands. Scotia Investments had 10,826 units changing hands at $26, Seprod climbed $1, in trading 88,000 units to close at $20.50, Sterling Investments closed at a new high of $14.15 while trading 4,000 shares, with a rise of $1.15, Supreme Ventures ended with 4,000 units changing hands at $4.81 and Proven Investments gained 1 US cent, to close at 19.90 US cents.
