Trinidad Cement pushed past Cemex bid price of $5.07 to $5.15 on the Trinidad Stock Exchange on Monday. The market closed with 13 securities changing hands as 4 advanced, 2 declined and 7 were unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 287,730 units valued at $3,325,149 compared to 166,719 shares valued at $2,032,545 on Friday.
The Composite Index gained 0.16 points to 1,215.71, the All T&T Index lost 0.69 points to 1,836.97 and the Cross Listed Index rose 0.14 points to 79.49.

Cemex offer rejected by market so far

Trinidad Cement stock closed at $5.10 on the Trinidad market, with 85,800 units changing hands valued at $436,690. The price shot past the Cemex revised offer price of $5.07 by adding 5 cents in trading on Thursday in closing at a 52 weeks’ high. Importantly the stock has a bid of $5.10 to buy 39,475 shares and closed without an offer being posted a sure sign of higher prices ahead.
Activity climbed sharply from the lows levels experienced for 2017 to date as 15 securities traded, compared to 7 on Wednesday. Trinidad Cement share price soared on the Trinidad market on Tuesday following an announcement by Sierra Trading that the offer to acquire majority shares is increased to TT$5.07 from TT$4.50. The stock advanced 38 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.05 with 6,000 shares changing hands.
The market seems to be sending a message about the offered price with 94,000 units on the bid at $5.05 with the lowest offer at $5.22 with only 1,000 units, suggesting the price could shoot past the offered price of $5.07.
Trading ended with 2 stocks closing at 52 weeks’ high as 13 securities changed hands compared to 14 on Monday. 3 stocks advanced, 4 declined and 6 were unchanged with 270,371 units valued at $2,062,449 compared to Monday’s 225,197 shares valued at $4,965,442.

Trading activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday continues to reflect constrains by investors with slightly more stocks falling than rising in spite of gains in all indices due mainly to a 34 cents gain in Guardian Holdings.
Trading resulted in 10 securities changing hands compared to 8 on Tuesday; 3 stocks advanced, 4 declined and 3 held firm with 117,706 units being traded at a value of $3,555,197 compared to the Tuesday’s 162,833 shares valued at $2,093,835.
The Composite Index gained 0.88 points to 1,211.45 points, the All T & T Index advanced 1.42 points to 1,834.77 and the Cross Listed Index rose 0.04 points to 78.62 points.

The market closed on Tuesday with 18 securities changing hands in contrast to 10 on Monday with 8 stocks advancing, 7 declining and 3 remaining unchanged. A total of 483,249 shares valued at $2,376,016 compared to Monday’s trades of 174,656 shares valued at $3,712,321.
The Composite Index climbed 6.45 points to 1,229.47, the All T&T Index slid 2.38 points to 1,827.69 and the Cross Listed Index gained 2.10 points to 84.54.

Trinidad stocks drop 6% in 2016

Trinidad based companies lost nearly 6 percent of their value in 2016 as the country’s economy faced challenges during the year based primarily on the fall in the price of oil which led to the shortage of foreign exchange and slippage in the value of the country’s currency.
While the values of the Trinidad based company declined that for the wider Caribbean grew by nearly 58 percent and resulted in the Composite index rising but by only 4 percent.
