The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose moderately on Friday with declining stocks having the upper hand on advancing stocks as 42 securities changed hands, in all market segments with 10 rising and 17 declining and 1 closing at a 52 week’s highs with one trading at an intraday high.
The market closed with 2,828,829 units valued at $41,439,170 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 988,659 units that changing hands, valued at $3,655,969.
The JSE Market Index fell 820.25 points to end at 153,091.08, the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 917.34 points to end at 170,043.51 and the JSE combined index lost 825.39 points added, to close at 161,692.53.

At the end of the market activities, Berger Paints traded 30,352 shares but lost 24 cents, in landing at $3.76, Cable & Wireless traded only 13,977 units, to close at $1.25, Caribbean Cement lost $3.49 with 2,600 shares changing hands to end at $25, Carreras traded 3,340 shares to end at $66.15. Grace Kennedy closed with 12,101 shares changing hands at $82, Jamaica Broilers traded 34,098 units to close at $14.80, Kingston Wharves traded 9,299 shares to close at $11.50, Margaritaville (Turks) traded 298,149 shares to close at a 52 weeks’ high of 16 US cents up from 13.5 cents. Mayberry Investments gained 42 cents in trading 5,000 shares cents to end at $4.50. National Commercial Bank fell $1.20 with 87,181 shares changing hands to close at $40.05, 
Pan Jamaican Investments rose 5 cents in trading 4,288 shares to close at $93.05, Radio Jamaica traded 132,411 shares and fell 6 cents to close at $1.4o. Sagicor Group ended with 56,564 shares changed hands at $23.70, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 69,655 shares to close at $11. Scotia Group shed 62 cents while trading 392,655 shares to close at $30, Scotia Investments fell $1.49 with 2,100 shares changing hands to end at $28. Seprod jumped $3 to end at $19 with 12,000 shares changing hands, Sterling Investments traded 45,000 units and gained 25 cents to end at $13, Supreme Ventures closed at $4.99 with 127,150 units changing hands and Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 501,600 units to end at 17.5 US cents down from 18 cents previously.

JSE’s modest trading early Friday
Trading the Jamaican Stock Exchange for the first day of April is off to a slow start in the morning session with only moderate volumes and with a number of the last 
traded prices on Thursdays either falling back or showing signs of doing so. A total of 19 securities, accounting for only 234,798 shares have changed hands at 10.45 am as 5 stocks gained and 8 declined
After 75 minutes of the market’s opening, Caribbean Cement that last traded at $28.49 was offered at $27, while Jetcon Corporation traded at a new high of $2.99 while National Commercial Bank lost 65 cents to trade at $40.60 with a small volume.
The main market indices suffered moderate gains but the juniors fell by a greater degree with the all Jamaica Composite Index falling 45.81 points to 170,915.04, the JSE Market Index fell 40.96 points to 153,870.37 the JSE combined index ending with a loss of 254.34 points to 162,263.58 and the junior market index dropped 21.09 points to 1,904.13.
Modest gain for JSE on Thursday
Carib Cement jumped $3.49 to $28.49 on Thursday.
The market closed with 4,035,008 units valued at $62,036,257 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 617,159 units that changing hands, valued at $2,081,398.

Gleaner traded 4,000 shares but lost 9 cents to end at $2, Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents in closing with 5,560 shares changing hands at $82, Jamaica Broilers traded 415,613 units to close with a gain of 52 cents at $14.80, JMMB Group traded 152,023 shares to close at $10 after falling 95 cents. Margaritaville (Turks) traded 273,730 shares to close at 13.5 US cents up from 12.99 cents, Mayberry Investments traded 9,180 shares and lost 10 cents to end at $4.08, National Commercial Bank gained 22 cents with 84,668 shares changing hands to close at $41.25, property company, 138 Student Living gained 24 cents to close at $5.50 while trading 17,000 shares. 
Pan Jamaican Investments lost $1 in trading 5,435 shares to close at $93, Pulse Investments gained 33 cents to end at $3.23 with 50,000 shares trading, Radio Jamaica traded for the first time after the company split the stock and closed at $1.46, with a loss of 20 cents while trading 34,355 units. Sagicor Group rose by 19 cents while 1,115,716 shares changed hands to end at $23.70, Scotia Group rose 23 cents while trading 405,979 shares to close at $30.62, Scotia Investments climbed $1.04 with 5,000 shares changing hands to end at $29.49. Supreme Ventures lost 1 cent to close at $4.99 with 30,650 units changing hands and JMMB 7.5% preference shares traded 619,293 units to end at $2.15.
JSE gains in early trading – Thursday
Key Insurance listed on the junior market of the Jamaican Stock Exchange this morning but has not traded so far but have bids between $2.50 and $2.51 to buy 55,000 shares, there were no stocks offered for sale.
After 75 minutes of the market’s opening, Caribbean Cement rose by $1 to $26 with a small volume, Jamaica Broilers traded with a gain of 57 with 362,086 shares at $14.85, JMMB Group lost 94 cents to trade at $10.01, RJR traded for the first time since the merger with the Gleaner and after issuing a bonus and splitting of its stock to shed 20 cents to be $1.46.
A total of 27 securities, accounting for 1,498,580 shares have changed hands at 10.45am as 7 stocks gained and 7 declined.
The indices enjoyed moderate gains in the main market after suffering modest declines earlier in the session with the all Jamaica Composite Index rising 18.35 points to 170,915.88, the JSE Market Index gaining 16.42 points to 153,871.09 the JSE combined index ending with a gain of 221.95 points to 162,404.47 and the junior market index gained 22.30 points to 1,917.06.

Sharp rise for JSE on Tuesday
The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose sharply on Tuesday when advancing stocks turned the tables on declining stocks by a wide margin as 40 securities changed hands, in all market segments. There were 20 rising stocks and 11 declining with 2 closing at a 52 week’s high and one at a 52 weeks’ low.
The market closed with 3,198,699 units valued at $63,673,032 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounting for 832,933 units changing hands, valued at $4,034,146.
The JSE Market Index climbed 1,458.73 points to end at 153,541.38, the all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 1,630.19 points to end at 170,547.42 and the JSE combined index had 1,848.35 points added, to close at 162,242.45.

Market up on moderate trades – Tuesday
Trading on the Jamaican Stock Exchange resulted small gains in the early morning session on Tuesday as trading remained slow with very low volumes as investors return from the long break for Easter holiday week end.
After 75 minutes of the market’s opening, the trade of note was a rise of 33 cents in the price of newly listed Jetcon Corporation to $2.58 with 16,649 shares changing hands while Blue Power shed $2.05 to $11.50, Caribbean Cream recovered 75 cents with only 5,000 shares trading to end at $4.25. 
Consolidated Bakeries is under pressure having traded down to $1.12 from $1.30 while trading 5,000 shares, there is an offer of 848,909 units on offer at $1.30 with the bid at $1.11 to buy 20,000 units. There are only six bids in the market for the stock for 290,000 units down to 85 cents while there are 27 offers to sell. Caribbean Cement gained 90 cents to $23.90 but only 13,695 shares changed hands with the bid still at $22.
Only 23 securities accounting for a mere 189,075 shares changed hands as 11 stocks gained and 6 declined.
The indices enjoyed moderate gains with the all Jamaica Composite Index rising 496.32 points to 169,413.55, the JSE Market Index gaining 444.12 points to 152,526.77 the JSE combined index ending with a 739.11 points rise to 161,133.21 but the junior market index rose 35.09 points to 1,916.62.
