JSE adds 4,453 points in 3 days – Tuesday
Market activity on Tuesday fell well below that on Monday but the market indices climbed higher with gains of 4,453 points in three days. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,526.21 points to 321,783.85 and the JSE Index added 1,390.55 points to 293,181.47.
The main market ended with 27 securities changing hands, ending with 10 securities rising, 8 falling, 9 trading firm. Trading ended with 10,582,771 units valued at $143,248,381 changing hands, versus 4,116,289 units valued at $49,819,783 on Monday.
In main market activity, Barita Investments closed at $7.50, with 8,336 shares, Berger Paints ended with a loss of $2.07 at $17, with 2,492,575 stock units following release of audited nine months results showing a reduction of earnings at 81 cents compared to $1.17 for the same time in 2016 but with the 2017 figures being hit by a large amount incurred to provide the directors recommendation to shareholders following the takeover offer for the shares. At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index in gaining 796.36 points to 318,127.47 and the JSE Index adding 725.57 points to end at 289,850.09.

JSE main market in sharp drop – Thursday
Fresh from vested interest hiking some prices at the close of the previous month the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed the first day of March with a big fall as prices returned to more normal levels on Thursday.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived sharply by 3,876.54 points to 317,331.11 and the JSE Index sank 3,531.97 points to end at 289,124.52.
Trading on Thursday closed 28 securities changing hands with 9 advancing, 13 declining and 5 trading firm, in the main and US dollar markets.
The securities with the largest price changes include, Berger Paints rising $1.35 to $21.35, Caribbean Cement falling $2.99 to $33.01, Jamaica Producers rising $1.90 to $17, JMMB Group that dropped by $1.99 to $24.01, Sagicor Group with a fall of 99 cents to $36.51 and Salada Foods with a decline of $1 to $10.50.

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed down on for the second time in two days on Monday, with JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dropping 296.85 points to 318,961.81 and the JSE Index falling 270.46 points to 290,610.27.
Trading on Monday closed 28 securities changing hands with 8 advancing, 14 declining and 6 trading firm in the main and US dollar markets.
The securities with the largest price changes include, Caribbean Cement with a gain of $1.45 to $33 and NCB Financial that traded with a loss of $1.02 to end at $98.97 after the acquisition deal to buy up to 62 percent of Guardian Holding was cancelled due to investigations into the deal being carried out by the securities commission of Trinidad.
Main market activity ended with 9,756,068 units valued at over $152,399,537 compared to 4,322,228 units valued at $69,892,327 on Monday. Sagicor Group accounted for 19.6 percent of shares traded with 1,912,055 units, followed by Jamaica Producers 17.9 percent with 1,748,275 units and Ciboney Group with 12.3 percent and ending trading with 1,199,900 shares.
