JSE Trading climbs sharply – Friday

Jamaica Broilers traded more half of Friday’s volume.

The volume traded on the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose sharply on Friday to 16,726,086 units valued at $358,993,001 from just 3,989,661 units valued at $65,937,392, Thursday.
The sharp increase in Friday’s volume was led by Jamaica Broilers Group with 8,778,922 units accounting for nearly 53.5 percent of the day’s volume followed by Radio Jamaica with 2,669,432 units and 15.96 percent of total volume and Carreras with 1,124,379 units and NCB Financial with 1,089,615 shares.
At the close on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, the main market indices rose with All Jamaican Composite Index climbing 2,198.27 points at 335,563.64, while the JSE Index rose 2,002.87 points to 305,736.36. The market closed out the half year mark with an increase of just 6 percent. Palace Amusement led the stocks rising with an increase of 168% followed by Kingston Wharves with 40 percent, PanJam Investments up 29 percent with Jamaica Broilers and Caribbean Cement up 28 percent each.
Stocks with major price changes are, Caribbean Cement rose $1 to end at $41, Carreras rose 80 cents and closed at $10, Grace Kennedy rose 66 cents to $52.26, Jamaica Broilers lost 50 cents to end at $23, JMMB Group rose 60 cents to close at $29, NCB Financial jumped $1.50 to $98, Productive Business Solution preference share lost $2 in closing at $103 and Scotia Group rose 80 cents to end at $51.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 24 securities trading of which 12 advanced, 4 declined and 8 closing unchanged, compared to 27 securities trading on Thursday.
In the US dollar market, 156,168 units traded valued at $17,178 with Sygnus Credit being the sole stock trading in the segment with the price ending at 11 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index closed unchanged at 155.
Trading resulted in an average of 727,221 shares valued at $15,608,391, compared to 166,236 units valued at an average of $2,747,391 for each security traded on Thursday. For the month to date, 250,168 units traded with an average value of $5,895,281 and on the previous day, 229,774 units traded with an average value of $5,182,608. May closed with an average of 589,414 shares with a value of $16,532.367, for each security traded.

Pulse leading trade for 2nd day

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange fell sharply on Thursday to just 3,989,661 units valued at $65,937,392, down from 12,393,354 units valued at $115,843,551 on Wednesday with Pulse as the lead trade.
At the close on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, the main market indices rose with All Jamaican Composite Index climbing 1,984.67 points at 333,365.37, while the JSE Index rose 1,808.26 points to 303,733.49.
Stocks with major price changes are, Grace Kennedy down 66 cents to $51.60, JMMB Group fell 60 cents to close at $28.40, NCB Financial falling $1.56 to $96.50, PanJam Investment adding back the $4.77 lost on Wednesday to end at $57.57 and Sagicor Group rose 82 cents to end at $39.
For the second consecutive day, Pulse Investments led trading and closed on Thursday with 781,135 units trading, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the day’s volume and was followed by JMMB Group 7.25% preference share with 750,000 shares and Scotia Group with 628,743 units.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 25 securities trading of which 10 advanced, 8 declined and 9 closing unchanged, compared to 28 securities trading on Wednesday.
In the US dollar market, 139,245 units traded valued at $25,213 with Sygnus Credit traded 128,045 units trading, to end at 11 US cents. JMMB Group 6.00% USD preference share ended with 11,000 units and Sterling Investments trade with 200 units at 9.2 US cents after falling from 10.4 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index closed down 0.49 at 155.
Trading resulted in an average of 166,236 units valued at an average of $2,747,391 for each security traded, in contrast to 515,323 units valued at an average of $4,826,815 on Wednesday. For the month to date, 229,774 units traded with an average value of $5,182,608 and on the previous day, 232,741 units traded with an average value of $5,302,373. May closed with an average of 589,414 shares with a value of $16,532.367, for each security traded.

Pulse Investments traded more than 5.4 million shares in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday out of a total of 12,393,354 units trading in the main and US dollar markets as the main market indices dived more than 2,690 points.
The volume of Pulse shares traded, is significant as it represents an unusually large amount that is out of line with normal trading levels for that company.
At the close on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,954.25 points at 331,380.70, while the JSE Index dived 2,691.66 points to 301,925.23.
Stocks with major price changes are, Grace Kennedy down 74 cents to $52.26, NCB Financial falling 84 cents to $98.06, PanJam Investment dropping $4.77 to $52.80, Scotia Group down $1.60 to end at $50.40, Seprod dropping $3.40 to $31.60, Supreme Ventures rising $1 to $15 and Sterling Investments up $1 to $11.50.
At the close of market activity, 12,367,754 units valued at $115,843,551 changed hands compared to 6,586,973 units valued at $111,180,207, on Tuesday.
The other companies with major volume traded were, Wisynco Group with 1,408,344 units, accounting for just over 11 percent of the volume traded, followed by Jamaica Producers with 1,268,622 units or just over 10 percent of the main market volume, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share exchanged 1,151,126 shares and Sygnus Credit was next with 691,887 units.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 25 securities trading of which 8 advanced, 11 declined and 5 closing unchanged, compared to 28 securities trading on Tuesday.
In the US dollar market, 25,600 units traded valued at $2,816 with Sygnus Credit being the sole stock trading to end at 11 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index closed unchanged at 155.49.
Trading resulted in an average of 515,323 units valued at an average of $4,826,815 for each security traded, in contrast to 253,345 units valued at an average of $4,276,162 on Tuesday. For the month to date 232,741 units traded with an average value of $5,302,373 and on the previous day 218,900 units traded with an average value of $5,326,971 on average. Trading surged on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday after Sygnus Credit traded nearly 12 million units out of 19 million plus units in the main market, while the company’s US listed shares traded 5.7 million units.
At the close of market activity 19,346,217 units valued at $306,929,810 compared to 6,395,222 units valued at $50,487,361 changed hands, on Thursday.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 30 securities trading of which 9 advanced, 13 declined and 8 traded firm, compared to 30 securities trading on Thursday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell 677.64 points at 334,659.84 while the JSE Index slipped 617.41 points to 304,912.91, as declining stocks dominated trading.
Trading volume was dominated by newly listed Sygnus Credit, with 11,792,890 shares and 60.96 percent of the main market volume, followed by Ciboney Group with 2,720,948 units and 14.06 percent of the day’s trade and Grace Kennedy with 1,127,088 units or 5.83 percent of trading.
In the US dollar market, 5,660,239 units valued at US$667,188 traded with Sygnus Credit Investments ended trading with 5,653,895 units at 11 US cents and JMMB Group 5.75% preference share advanced by 10 cents in trading 6,344 stock units at $2.25. The JSE USD Equities Index rose 0.84 points to close at 162.63.
Stocks with major price changes are, Berger Paints with a rise of 90 cents to $22, Grace Kennedy rising by 89 cents to a record $53, JMMB Group fell 20 cents to $27.80 and Seprod climbing $3.50 to $35.
Trading resulted in an average of 691,163 units valued at $19,961,779, in contrast to 138,224 shares valued at $39,972,088 on Thursday. Syngus Credit Jamaica stock dip below IPO price but teh US based rose.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market retreated on Tuesday after it gained on Monday following Friday’s losses as declining stocks had the upper hand over advancing ones.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell 634.73 points to 333,735.28 while the JSE Index slipped 578.31 points to 304,070.53, as declining stocks dominated trading.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 32 securities trading of which 9 advanced, 11 declined and 12 traded firm, compared to 22 securities trading on Monday.
At the close of market activity 6,395,222 units valued at $50,487,361 traded compared to 3,061,341 units valued at over $40,934,808 changed hands, on Monday.
Trading volume was dominated by 1834 Investments with 2 million units followed by Ciboney with 1,589,845 units and Mayberry Investments with 1,084,672 units.
Stocks with major price changes are, JMMB Group rising 50 cents to $29, Sagicor Group climbing $1.10 to $39.10 and Supreme Ventures gaining $1.09 to close at $15, Sygnus Credit falling $2.30 to a low of $13.70 and Productive Business Solution Preference share rose $2 to $105.
Trading resulted in an average of 220,525 units valued at over $1,740,943, in contrast to 113,383 shares valued at $1,516,104 on Monday. The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market retreated for the second day when trading ended on Thursday with the All Jamaican Composite Index dropping 471.19 points to 333,056.79 while the JSE Index slipped 429.31 points to close at 303,452.35 as declining stocks dominated trading.
Market activities in the main and US dollar markets resulted in 28 securities trading, compared to 30 on Tuesday of which 9 advanced, 16 declined and 3 traded firm.
At the close of market activity 2,827,566 units valued at $112,242,230 traded compared to 4,703,010 shares valued at $61,534,534 changed hands, on Thursday.
Trading volume was dominated by NCB Financial Group with 766,949 units followed by Victoria Mutual Investments with 568,164 units and Caribbean Cement Company with 289,511 units.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange pulled back at the close of trading on Friday as declining stocks was 60 percent more than as those advancing to end a week that had 2 days of new record close and still ended the week 2,561 points ahead of the close of the previous week.
At the close of trading, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined 471.19 points to 333,056.79 while the JSE Index slipped 429.31 points to close at 303,452.35.
Just 26 securities traded on Thursday, resulting in 9 advancing, 15 declining and 2 remaining firm resulted in activity amounting to just 2,827,566 units valued at $112,242,230.
In market activity, Berger Paints fell 50 cents and ended at $20.50, with 102,177 stock units, Carreras lost 28 cents in concluding trading at $10, with 171,700 units, Caribbean Cement jumped $2 to $42 while trading 289,511 shares, Ciboney Group rose 1 cent to settle at 13 cents, trading 100,000 shares, Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents and ended trading at $50.50, with 5,120 shares. Jamaica Broilers declined by 90 cents, trading 25,789 stock units to end at $22.10, with, Jamaica Producers gained 10 cents and finished trading at $16.95, with 1,654 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at $7.20, with 2,500 shares after rising 17 cents, JMMB Group ended at $29.45, trading 219,128 shares with a rise of 45 cents. Victoria Mutual Investments concluded trading with a fall of 10 cents at $4, exchanging 568,164 stock units and Wisynco Group rose 4 cents, finishing at $9.84, with 169,237 units. In the main market preference segment, JMMB Group 7.5% lost 4 cents and finished at $1.04, with 1,000 stock units changing hands.

Demand up for several JSE stocks – Thursday

Seprod shares dived by $5 on Thursday.

Investors pushed the Jamaica Stock Exchange down from record close on when traded ended on Thursday with the All Jamaican Composite Index dropping 3,165.63 points to 333,527.98 while the JSE Index slipped 2,884.25 points to 303,861.66.
While the main market indices fell, the order book for a number of main market stocks, shows buying interest rising. Caribbean Cement with more than 276,000 units on the bid at $40, Grace with bids at $50 and rising with very limited offers, Jamaica Broilers with god bids above $22 and limited offers, JMMB group with bids at $29 against limited offers, Scotia Group with strong bids around the $50 region and limited supply.
At the close on Thursday, 30 securities traded in the main and US dollar markets, up from 24 on Wednesday and resulted in 10 advancing, 12 declining and 8 remaining firm.

Market activity ended with 4,703,010 shares valued at $61,534,534 changing hands, up from 2,236,723 units valued at a mere $34,192,073 trading on Wednesday.
Carreras closed trading with 2,060,114 units or 43.80 percent of traded volume, followed by Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share closed with 1,315,000 units or 27.96 percent of the day’s volume and Sagicor Group ended with 341,597 units amounting to 7.26 of the day’s traded volume.
Stocks with major price changes are, Berger Paints rose 49 cents to $21, Caribbean Cement fell $2 to $40, Grace Kennedy lost $1 to end at $50, JMMB Group climbed $1.40 to end at $29, NCB Financial Group rose $1.74 and ended trading at $99.99, Sagicor Group rose 60 cents and settled at $39.10, Scotia Group dropped $1.47 in closing at $50.03, Seprod dived $5 to finish trading at $31, Sterling Investments climbed $4.20 to close at $12 and Supreme Ventures ended at $14.50, after falling 80 cents.

Trading resulted in an average of 180,885 units valued at an average of $2,366,328 for each security traded. In contrast to 101,669 units for an average of $1,554,185 on Wednesday. For the month to date 203,633 units traded with an average value of $6,596,529 and on the previous day 205,980 units traded with an average value of $7,083,190 on average. May closed with an average of 589,414 shares with a value of $16,532.367, for each security traded.
In the US dollar market, 448,195 units valued at US$62,443 traded with Proven Investments ended trading with 3,800 units and fell of 3 cents to 20 US cents, Sterling Investments rose 2.5 cents and ended trading at 11.5 US cents with 438,095 shares changing hands and in the US dollar preference sector, JMMB Group 5.25% closed with a loss of 25 cents at US$2 with 5,000 units trading and JMMB Group 6% closed at US$1 trading 1,300 units. Another record close for JSE – Wednesday

Investors pushed the Jamaica Stock Exchange to yet another record close, when traded ended on Wednesday.
At the close the All Jamaican Composite Index rising 686.42 points to close at 336,693.61 and the JSE Index climbed 625.40 points to 306,765.91.
Market activities resulted in 24 securities trading, compared to 25 on Tuesday in the main and US dollar markets of which 11 advanced, 7 declined and 6 traded firm.
Stocks with major price changes are, Caribbean Cement with a rise of $2.50 to $42, Grace Kennedy rose $1 to end at $51, JMMB Group lost 65 cents to end at $27.60, Kingston Properties lost 65 cents to end at $5.35 and Sagicor Group lost 70 cents and closed at $38.50. Supreme Ventures traded at a new high of $16 and ended at a new record close of $15.30.
The volume of stocks trading on the main market declined sharply to 2,236,723 units valued at a mere $34,192,073, down sharply from 11,446,622 units valued at $579,818,518 on Tuesday. Wisynco Group traded just 1,080,201 units to be the only security trading over a million shares.
Trading resulted in an average of 101,669 units valued at an average of $1,554,185 compared to 497,679 units valued at an average of $25,209,501 for each security traded on Tuesday. For the month to date 205,980 units traded with an average value of $7,083,190 and on the previous day 215,958 units traded with an average value of $7,679,455 on average. May closed with an average of 589,414 shares with a value of $16,532.367, for each security traded.
In the US dollar market, 74,305 units valued at just US$42,963 traded with Proven Investments trading 45,525 units and gained of 3 cents to close at 23 US cents and in the US dollar preference sectors JMMB Group 6% closed at US$1 with 35,300 units. The JSE USD Equities Index rose 1.03 points to close at 161.78.

Trading falls on JSE main market – Wednesday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with modest volumes, but the market indices moved to new record close.
At the close of trading, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 686.42 points to close at 336,693.61 and the JSE Index climbed 625.40 points to 306,765.91.
Just 22 securities traded on Wednesday, resulting in 10 advancing, 7 declining and 5 remaining firm resulted in 2,236,723 units valued at a mere $34,192,073 trading.
In market activity, Barita Investments closed at $12.05, with 1,730 shares trading, Berger Paints gained 51 cents and ended at $20.51, with 3,000 stock units changing hanCarreras concluded trading at $10.30, with 39,046 units, Caribbean Cement jumped $2.50 to finish at $42, with 23,000 shares, Ciboney Group settled at 12 cents, with 50,000 shares. Grace Kennedy rose $1, ending trading at $51, exchanging 26,789 shares, Jamaica Broilers rose 20 cents to $23, with 2,100 stock units, Jamaica Producers finished trading at $16.85, with 14,960 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at $7.30, trading 43,660 shares. JMMB Group ended with a loss of 65 cents at $27.60, trading 358,700 shares, Kingston Properties dropped 65 cents and concluded trading at $5.35, with 2,400 shares, Kingston Wharves fell 50 cents and finished at $46, with 61,766 stock units, Mayberry Investments settled with a gain of 10 cents at $6.50, trading 2,090 units. NCB Financial Group rose 25 cents and ended trading at $98.25, with 20,462 shares, PanJam Investment closed with a fall of 5 cents at $51.45, exchanging just 200 stock units, Radio Jamaica eased just 1 cent and finished at $1.07, with 104,000 shares trading, Sagicor Group settled with a loss of 70 cents at $38.50, exchanging 21,654 shares. Sagicor Real Estate Fund added 1 cents and settled at $13.81, with 890 shares, Scotia Group rose 35 cents in trading 59,507 units to close at $51.50, Supreme Ventures ended 30 cents higher at a 52 weeks’ high of $15.30, with 9,314 shares, Victoria Mutual Investments rose 7 cents and concluded trading at $4.07, with 311,254 stock units and Wisynco Group lost 25 cents and finished trading at $9.75 with 1,080,201 units changing hands.
