Gains for Main market stocks

Trading dropped sharply on Friday, with an exchange of 93 percent fewer shares at 86 percent less value than on Thursday, but the market indices rose after marginally more stocks advanced than declined at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 2,733.33 points to 433,426.84, the Main Index rose 2,535.44 points to 395,153.87 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.82 points to settle at 99.46.
Trading ended with 45 securities, down from 48 on Thursday and closed with prices of 18 stocks rising, 17 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 7,739,040 shares trading for $45,618,469 compared to 108,504,798 units at $315,828,525 on Thursday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 32.8 percent of total volume for 2.53 million shares, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 17.6 percent for 1.36 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 17.1 percent of the day’s trade for 1.32 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 171,979 units at $1,013,744, compared to an average of 2,260,517 shares at $6,579,761 on Thursday. Month to date trading averaged 341,423 units at $2,407,074, in contrast to 350,058 units at $2,478,082 on Thursday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading has ten stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
At the close, Barita Investments shed 20 cents to $83.80 with an exchange of 54,584 shares, Berger Paints gained 39 cents in ending at $13.50 and trading 2,000 stocks, Caribbean Cement fell 55 cents to $64.95, with 6,150 stock units clearing the market. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund rose $2.18 to $45.67 with 4,108 units changing hands, Grace Kennedy gained 25 cents to close at $88.50 in trading 3,205 stocks, Jamaica Producers advanced $2.22 to $23.22 with the trading of 440 shares. JMMB Group shed $1.40 in closing at $31.50 after the transferring of 29,763 units, Key Insurance rose 30 cents to $5.28 with the swapping of 69,521 shares, NCB Financial Group climbed $2.48 to close at $140 trading 16,238 stocks. Palace Amusement fell $19 to $680, with 443 units crossing the exchange, Proven Investments shed 60 cents in ending at $34.90 with 19,845 stock units clearing the market, Sagicor Group gained 23 cents to finish at $49.98 in transferring 321,790 units. Salada Foods rose $1.50 to $44.50 with the swapping of 10,915 shares, Scotia Group closed 74 cents higher at $41.25 with an exchange of 8,767 stock, Seprod dropped $4 to $69 in trading 94,793 units and Supreme Ventures finished 20 cents higher at $15.30 in switching ownership of 37,927 stock units.

Radio Jamaica dominates Main Market

Radio Jamaica dominated trading on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday with nearly 95 million shares accounting for 87 percent of total volume on a day when the market declined marginally after the volume of shares exchanged soared 873 percent and the value rose 63 percent higher than on Wednesday. At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index shed 48.69 points to 430,693.51, the JSE Main Index declined 53.00 points to 392,618.43 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.09 points to settle at 98.64.
Trading ended with 48 securities, down from 51 on Wednesday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 14 declining and 13 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 108,504,798 shares trading for $315,828,525 compared to 11,146,482 units at $193,454,160 on Wednesday. Radio Jamaica led trading with 87.4 percent of total volume for 94.78 million shares, followed by Carreras with 4.7 percent for 5.09 million units, Wigton Windfarm 2.2 percent for 2.43 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 1.4 percent for 1.48 million units and Sagicor Group 1.1 percent for 1.20 million units changing hands.
Trading averaged 2,260,517 units at $6,579,761, compared to 218,558 shares at $3,793,219 on Wednesday. Trading month to date averaged 350,058 units at $2,478,082 in contrast to 240,236 units at $2,242,297 on Wednesday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

At the close, Barita Investments rose 90 cents to $84 with an exchange of 117,814 shares, Caribbean Cement shed 51 cents to close at $65.50 trading 194 units, Eppley advanced $1.12 to $32.99 in the swapping of 3,486 stocks, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund finished $1.49 higher at $43.49 in an exchange of 590 units. Grace Kennedy rose 83 cents to $88.25, with 174,402 stock units crossing the market, Jamaica Broilers gained 41 cents to settle at $29.41 in transferring 14,968 shares, JMMB Group picked up 24 cents to close at $32.90 with 376,901 stocks changing hands. Key Insurance lost 32 cents at $4.98 after exchanging 33,711 units, Margaritaville fell $2 to $35, with 200 shares clearing the market, Mayberry Investments gained 31 cents to close at $5.50, with a transfer of 1,200 stock units. NCB Financial shed 49 cents to $137.52 with the swapping of 23,902 shares, 138 Student Living gained 49 cents to close at $5.99, with 16,768 stocks crossing the market, PanJam Investment rose 99 cents to $66 trading 51,313 units. Proven Investments advanced $1.50 to $35.50 in an exchange of 122,469 stock units, Sagicor Group rose $1.75 to $49.75 in exchanging 1,195,665 shares, Scotia Group ended 74 cents lower at $40.51 with the swapping of 14,908 stock units, Seprod rose $1 to $73 with 45,709 units changing hands. Sterling Investments gained 21 cents to settle at $2.91in the transfer of 24,212 stocks and Wisynco Group shed 62 cents to close at $15.38, with 28,391 stocks changing hands.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 7.25% dropped 16 cents in closing at $1.25 in an exchange of 1,130 shares.

Junior Market slips back on Thursday

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market declining after falling stocks far outnumbered rising ones two to one as investors exchanged 35 percent fewer shares than on Wednesday, with a 28 percent fall in value.

The Junior Market Index steadily moving higher

In the end, 33 stocks traded, down from 36 on Wednesday with nine stocks rising, 19 declining and five remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index fell 14.42 points the first decline in seven trading days as the market settle at 2,972.19.
The average PE Ratio ended at 16.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 7,850,128 shares for $26,568,082, in contrast to 12,160,533 stock units at $36,790,003 on Wednesday. Lasco Distributors led trading with 19.8 percent of total volume as 1.55 million shares changed hands, followed by Lumber Depot 16.4 percent with 1.29 million units and Limners and Bards traded 824,921 units for 10.5 percent market share.
Trading averaged 237,883 units at $805,093, a fall from 337,793 at $1,021,945 on Wednesday.
The Month to date average trade was 258,747 shares at $759,436, compared to 259,825 units at $757,078 on Wednesday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Jetcon Corporation rose 7 cents to close at 77 cents while exchanging 17,831 units, Lasco Financial rose 5 cents to settle at $2.69 with an exchange of 123,700 shares, Lasco Manufacturing advanced 18 cents to $4.59 with 517,865 stocks changing hands. Limners and Bards lost 5 cents to finish at $2.70 with a transfer of 824,921 units, Mailpac Group rose 6 cents to $3.45 with 617,187 shares traded, Main Event shed 32 cents to settle at $3.15 with 152,969 stocks passing through the market.Medical Disposables jumped 58 cents to $4.73 with a transfer of 270 units and Stationery and Office Supplies dropped 27 cents to $5.30 with 4,150 shares crossing the exchange.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% gained 15 cents to close at $1.30 with 400 stock units changing hands.

Winning run continues Wednesday

The Junior Market index inched closer to the 3,000 mark on Wednesday, gaining 5.06 points to settle at 2,986.61 after the market moved to 3,011.57 immediately as the market opened, but the early gains fizzled away subsequently to the close of the market with gains for the year of 13 percent.
The top three volume leaders saw transfers of over one million units, collectively accounting for 64 percent of the day’s trade. Lumber Depot led trading with 33.3 percent of total volume or 4.04 million shares, followed by Fosrich with 17.9 percent of the day’s trade for 2.18 million units for and GWest 13 percent, with an exchange of 1.58 million stocks.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands compared to 33 on Tuesday, with 15 stocks rising, 12 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 17 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed trading with 17 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday after an exchange of 12,160,533 shares for $36,790,003, down from 14,669,963 units at $43,192,636 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 337,793 units at $1,021,945 versus 444,544 at $1,308,868 on Tuesday. The month to date trading averaged 259,825 units at $757,078 versus 255,170 units at $741,265 on Tuesday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Stocks trading on Wednesday ended with the market bouncing after Tuesday decline in the market indices, as investors put down 90 percent funds in trading 8 percent more shares than on Tuesday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,009.51 points to 430,742.20, the Main Index rose 966.73 points to 392,671.43 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.38 points to settle at 98.73.
Overall, 51 securities traded, up from 50 on Tuesday and closed with prices of 19 stocks rising, 23 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 11,146,482 shares trading for $193,454,160 compared to 10,353,699 units at $101,569,397 on Tuesday. Ciboney Group led trading with 17.6 percent of total volume for 1.96 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 14.1 percent for 1.57 million units, PanJam Investment with 9.8 percent for 1.10 million units and JMMB Group with 9.4 percent for an exchange of 1.05 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 218,558 units at $3,793,219, up from 207,074 shares at $2,031,388 on Tuesday. Month to date, trading averaged 240,236 units at $2,242,297, in contrast to 241,646 units at $2,141,408 on Tuesday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

Falling stocks dominate JSE main market

The market lost more grounds at the close of trading for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, ending with more stocks declining than advancing, with the value of traded stocks climbing 114 percent after 29 percent more shares traded than on Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,156.19 points to 429,732.69, the JSE Main Index declined 1,972.46 points to 391,704.70 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.57 points to 98.35.
A total 50 securities traded up from 48 on Monday and closed with 12 stocks rising, 22 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 10,353,699 shares for $101,569,397, up from 8,031,792 units at $47,508,810 on Monday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 19.9 percent of total volume for 2.06 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway 18.3 percent, with 1.89 million units, Ciboney with 17.4 percent for 1.80 million units and QWI Investments with 13.6 percent for 1.41 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 207,074 units at $2,031,388, compared to 167,329 shares at $989,767 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 241,646 units at $2,141,408, in contrast to 244,001 units at $ 2,148,902 on Monday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

Juniors in easy reach of 3,000 points mark

Straight out of the opening, stocks prices rose and pushed the market index up nine points at the start and up 29 points just before half an hour of trading having elapsed on Tuesday. As the morning progressed, buying pressure constantly pushed the index along to close out just below the 3,000 points mark and the day’s peak of 2,983.41 on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
The Junior Market Index surged 35.57 points to close at 2,981.55, just 19 points adrift of the 3,000 mark and shy of the previous best close of 2,994.69 points, on February 10, last year and recording a gain of 12.8 percent for the year to date.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands, down from 37 on Monday and closed with the prices of 12 stocks rising, 12 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
The PE Ratio averaged 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading volume and vales rose 258 percent and 243 percent respectively above Monday levels with an exchange of 14,669,963 shares for $43,192,636, up from 4,093,792 units at $12,580,039 on Monday. Indies Pharma closed 30 cents higher at a 52 weeks’ high of $4.50 with 294,303 stocks changing hands, Lasco Distributors shed 7 cents to $4.08 after trading 119,353 units, Limners and Bards slipped 10 cents to $2.70 after a transfer of 10,916,426 shares. Lumber Depot gained 5 cents to end at $2.50 in trading 52,534 stocks. Medical Disposables fell 58 cents to $4.15 with 892 shares clearing the market and tTech shed 14 cents to end at $4.70 with 48,759 units changing hands.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% preference share fell 35 cents to $1.15 after exchanging 8,886 stocks.

Fall in JSE major indices

Stocks lost ground in trading on Monday ended with the market indices slipping even as almost half the number of stocks traded gained with the volume was similar to that of Friday with a 62 percent fall in the values at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index shed 888.44 points to 431,888.88, the JSE Main Index fell 893.61 points to 393,677.16 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.38 points to 98.92.
Trading ended with 48 securities compared to 50 on Friday and closed with prices of 22 stocks rising, 15 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 8,031,792 shares for $47,508,810 compared to 8,079,230 units at $124,140,641 on Friday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 30.3 percent of the volume traded for 2.44 million shares, followed by Ciboney Group 25.6 percent, with 2.06 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 19.3 percent market share for 1.55 million units.
Trading averaged 167,329 units at $989,767, compared to 161,585 shares at $2,482,813 on Friday. Trading month to date averaged 244,001 units at $2,148,902, versus 249,365 units at $2,230,008 on Friday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

At the close, Berger Paints rose 25 cents to $13.50, after 9,336 units crossed the market, Caribbean Cement climbed 60 cents to $70 after exchanging 17,986 stock units. Carreras ended 33 cents higher at $9 in switching ownership of 135,470 shares, Ciboney Group lost 23 cents to finish at 68 cents in trading 2,059,981 stocks, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund climbed $1.49 to $41.99 in the swapping of 3,383 units. First Rock Capital fell $1 to $17 in an exchange of 55,747 stocks, Jamaica Producers lost 20 cents to close at $21.80 trading 14,263 units, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 77 cents to $18.91 in transferring 45,899 stocks. Key Insurance ended 31 cents lower at $5.15 after clearing the market with 23,717 units, Margaritaville dropped $6.42 to end at $37, with 131 stocks crossing the exchange. NCB Financial declined $2 to $142 after trading 28,442 shares, Palace Amusement climbed $30 to $670, finishing with a transfer of 396 units, Proven Investments shed 50 cents to $34 with the swapping of 34,378 stocks. Sagicor Group advanced $1.50 to $50 in exchanging 217,335 stock units, Salada Foods rose 30 cents to $44.50, with 4,603 units changing hands. Scotia Group shed 75 cents to $41.25 trading 21,626 stock units, Seprod slid 95 cents to $71.05 after exchanging 15,843 shares, Sterling Investments gained 31 cents to close at $2.91 after 2,950 stock units crossed the market and Wisynco Group gained 49 cents to close at $15.99 with a transfer of 29,860 units.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% rose 50 cents to $7 in an exchange of 3,076 stocks and JMMB Group 7.25% gained 24 cents to close at $1.44 after exchanging 7,124 units.

New 13 month high for Junior market

Investors continue to drive the prices higher at the closed of trading on Monday, pushing the market to a thirteen-month high on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the market index closing just below the close of 2,947.43 points on February 21 last year.

The junior market now at 13 months high.

The market closed after an even number of stocks advanced as declined and four stocks traded at 52 weeks’ high and the Market Index advanced 21.83 points to settle at 2,945.98. The PE Ratio averaged 16.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands up from 34 on Friday and closed with prices of 15 rising, 15 declining and seven remaining unchanged. Indies Pharma surged 27 percent to a record high, Blue Power traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $4.47 but ended lower at the close. Lasco Distributors and CAC2000 preference share ended at 52 weeks’ high.
Market activity ended with 72 percent fewer shares trading, valued 71 percent less than on Friday as 4,093,792 shares traded for $12,580,039 versus 14,753,485 units at $42,656,041 on Friday. Derrimon Trading led with 19.2 percent of total volume for an exchange of 784,647 shares, followed by Limners and Bards 13.2 percent with 540,986 units and Caribbean Producers with 11.3 percent of the day’s trade for 464,245 units.
Trading averaged 110,643 units at $340,001, versus 433,926 at $1,254,589 on Friday. The month to date averaged 244,206 units at $708,404, compared to 253,478 units at $733,977 on Friday. February averaged 365,365 units at $881,118.

Caribbean Assurance Brokers fell 18 cents to $2.01, with 18,675 shares crossing the market, Caribbean Flavours dipped 10 cents to $2.20 trading 76,427 stock units, Caribbean Producers gained 7 cents to close at $3.17 in transferring 464,245 shares. Consolidated Bakeries declined 39 cents to $1.25, with 100,000 units changing hands, Elite Diagnostic picked up 10 cents to close at $3.09 in trading 88,981 units. Everything Fresh closed 10 cents higher at $1.05, with 58,259 stock units crossing the market, Express Catering fell 24 cents to end at $3.50 after an exchange of 51,311 shares, Fontana lost 10 cents to close at $5.80 with the swapping of 87,437 stocks. Fosrich shed 20 cents in closing at $5.20 with an exchange of 35,133 shares, General Accident advanced 34 cents to $5.84 in switching ownership of 7,590 stocks, iCreate lost 8 cents in ending at 74 cents, with 55,770 stock units crossing the market. Indies Pharma advanced 90 cents to a 52 weeks’ high of $4.20 with 427,490 shares clearing the market. Knutsford Express rose 45 cents to $5.55, with 2,437 shares crossing the exchange, Lasco Distributors picked up 7 cents to close at to end at 52 weeks’ high of $4.15 in switching ownership of 125,573 stock units, Lasco Financial rose 5 cents to $2.64, after transferring 3,146 shares. Lasco Manufacturing climbed 12 cents to $4.46, with 23,948 units changing hands, Lumber Depot dipped 13 cents to $2.45, after clearing the market with 176,529 stocks, Main Event ended 6 cents higher at $3.12 in an exchange of 50,000 units. Paramount Trading gained 12 cents to settle at $1.43 trading 1,000 stock units, Stationery and Office Supplies climbed 96 cents to $5.58 trading 106 units and tTech gained 9 cents to close at $4.84, transferring 21,683 stocks.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000 9.5% preference share advanced 30 cents to end at 52 weeks’ high of $1.50 after an exchange of 25,000 shares.

Stocks close week with a loss

Stocks ended higher at the close of trading on Friday after rising prices outnumbered declining ones with an exchange of 25 percent lower volume at a 65 percent jump in value over Thursday as the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market closed out the week down.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 429.52 points to close at 432,777.32, the JSE Main Index rose 365.83 points to 394,570.77 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.28 points to 99.30.
Trading activated 50 securities, up from 45 on Thursday, with prices of 21 stocks rising, 18 declining and 11 remaining unchanged.
The PE Ratio averages 19.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 8,079,230 shares trading for $124,140,641 compared to 10,771,883 units at $75,221,344 on Thursday. Jamaica Producers led with 26.2 percent of the volume traded for 2.12 million shares, followed by Ciboney Group with 13.1 percent for an exchange of 1.06 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 11.3 percent market share for 914,005 units.
Trading for the day averaged 161,585 units at $2,482,813, compared to an average of 239,375 shares at $1,671,585 on Thursday. The average trade month to date ends at 249,365 units at $2,230,008, in contrast to 256,266 units at $2,210,133 on Thursday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

First Rock Capital advanced $1.50 to a record close of $18 after an exchange of 26,211 units, Grace Kennedy declined by $2 to $86.97 in switching ownership of 162,703 shares, Jamaica Broilers lost 20 cents to close at $29.80 with the swapping of 86,849 stocks. JMMB Group shed 38 cents to end at $32.50 in transferring 56,545 stocks, Key Insurance closed 24 cents lower at $5.46 after exchanging 57,458 units. Mayberry Jamaican Equities gained 50 cents to settle at $8, clearing the market with 800 stocks. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy declined $1 to $139 trading 35 shares, NCB Financial Group climbed $1.50 to $144 in exchange of 101,774 units, 138 Student Living climbed $1.59 to $6.99, with 60,264 units crossing the market, Palace Amusement advanced $10 to $640 with 57 shares crossing the market. PanJam Investment shed $2 to $64, with 1,407 stock units changing hands, Pulse Investments gained 26 cents in closing at $4.40 with an exchange of 390,929 units, Sagicor Group slipped 38 cents to $48.50 in switching ownership of 446,505 shares. Salada Foods lost 30 cents to finish at $44.20 in swapping 1,782 stocks, Scotia Group rose $1.89 to $42, trading 63,546 shares. Sterling Investments fell 31 cents to $2.60 in an exchange of 6,721 stock units, Supreme Ventures gained 30 cents to finish at $15.40, with 50,715 units crossing the market and Wisynco Group closed 47 cents higher at $15.50, with 16,279 shares clearing the market.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 9.5% jumped $202.69 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $1,700 trading just one share, JMMB Group C share 7.25% gained 28 cents to end at $2.14 with the swapping of 4,087 stock units and JMMB Group 7.25% declined 24 cents to $1.20 trading 230 shares.
