Junior Market slips on Thursday but..

Market activity dipped, with 20 percent fewer shares trading than on Tuesday, following the Ash Wednesday break, but the market ended with more stocks rising than declining on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, but the market Index slipped moderately at the close.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands compared to 39 on Tuesday and concluded with the prices of 16 stocks rising, ten declining and 11 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 10.53 points to finish at 2,877.69.
The PE Ratio averages 15.2 based on ICInsider.com’s  2020-21 earnings forecast. The market closed with 5,225,893 shares traded for $16,022,590 down from 6,496,040 units at $19,574,623 on Tuesday.
Derrimon Trading led trading with 17.1 percent of total volume after exchanging 895,494 shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 14.5 percent of the day’s trade or 757,249 units and Lumber Depot with 14 percent market share with a transfer of 730,545 units.
Trading averaged 141,240 units at $433,043 down from 166,565 at $501,913 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 408,900 shares at $980,150, lower than 431,459 units at $1,026,262 on Tuesday. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Honey Bun advanced 14 cents to $5.15 with a transfer of 114,923 units, Indies Pharma rose 9 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $3.14 with 492,342 shares changing hands, Jamaican Teas declined by 18 cents to $3.50 with an exchange of 757,249 stock units. Jetcon gained 5 cents to end at 74 cents with 37,909 units passing through the market, KLE Group dropped 24 cents to $1.16 with 10,000 shares traded, Lasco Distributors rose 9 cents to $3.60 with a transfer of 150,895 stocks. Lasco Manufacturing climbed 28 cents to $4.60 with 23,605 stock units changing hands, Limners and Bards advanced 14 cents to $2.64 with an exchange of 61,986 shares, Mailpac Group rose 14 cents to $3.79 with 481,324 units passing through the market and Stationery and Office Supplies dropped 31 cents to $4.22 with the trading of 60,168 shares.

Sharp Junior Market rebound – Tuesday

Stocks jumped 94.40 points to close at 2,888.22 after rising and declining stocks matched each other in trading on Tuesday on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as investors exchanged 91 percent fewer shares than on Monday.

Trading ended with 39 securities versus 38 on Monday with 16 rising, 16 declining and seven closing unchanged.

Jamaican Teas led trading with 21 percent of total volume for 1.36 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot 16.5 percent with 1.07 million units and Mailpac Group with 15.2 percent after a transfer of 987,293 units. Pull back for JSE majors on Tuesday

Stocks gave back some of the gains of the last two trading days, with the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market index slipping just over 600 points at the close of trading on Tuesday after stocks rising and declining were equal as 53 percent fewer shares were exchanged than on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index fell 686.84 points to 429,363.77, the Main Index lost 618.66 points to 391,508.19 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.43 points to 100.29.
At the one PM close, 45 securities traded, similar to Monday, with 18 rising, 18 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 9,841,467 shares for $95,818,004 versus 21,102,556 units at $91,864,402 on Monday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 18.5 percent of total volume, after 1.83 million shares traded followed by Transjamaican Highway with 11.5 percent for 1.14 million units and Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 11.2 percent of the day’s trade for 1.11 million units.
Trading averaged 218,699 units at $2,129,289, compared to 468,946 shares at $2,041,431 on Monday. The month to date averaged 413,643 units at $2,752,324, close to the average of 431,223 units at $2,808,510 on Monday. Trading in January closed with an average of 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Proven Investments slipped $1.48 to $36.50 trading 1,513 units, Radio Jamaica gained 6 cents to close at $1.56 with the swapping of 554,673 shares, after traded as high as $1.80 during the morning session. Sagicor Group rose 70 cents to $51.70, with 18,406 stocks clearing the market. Scotia Group finished 97 cents lower at $42, after 18,751 shares crossing the market and Seprod gained $1 to end at $67, in an exchange of 14,613 units.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% rose $1.25 in closing at $7.35 exchanging 100 units and JMMB Group 7.25% gained 41 cents to end at $1.61 trading 11,242 shares.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Monday with the market rising after more stocks advanced than declined, with 47 percent increase in the number of shares exchanged over Friday, with values down 57 percent as the market closed another session with gains to land it a five weeks’ high.
The two main market indices are now down less than a percent for the year to date, as the All Jamaican Composite Index gained 2,037.03 points to end at 430,050.61, the Main Index rose 1,848.31 points to 392,126.85 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.50 points to settle at 99.86.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands, up from 43 on Friday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 16 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 16.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 21,102,556 shares for $91,864,402 versus 14,347,348 units at $215,600,304 on Friday. Near 100 points plunge for Junior Market

The Junior Market Index declined 20.33 points to settle at 2,793.82, but plunged nearly 100 points during the day, with the market jumping sharply after just 20 minutes of trading to 2,886.96 points as investors pushed Lasco Distributors to a new 52 weeks’ high at $3.88 and Lasco Manufacturing to $4.95 with a few others chipping in.
Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Monday pushed the total volume of shares exchanged up 585 percent with a value 215 percent more than on Friday. Market activity resulted in 74,563,869 units trading for $122,016,255 compared to 10,871,142 units at $38,718,293 on Friday as 38 securities changed hands, up from 36 on Friday with prices of 16 rising, 14 declining and eight closing unchanged. Three stocks traded at 52 weeks’ highs during the day but only two ended at closing highs.
Paramount Trading dominated the market controlling 81 percent of the volume after 60.50 million shares changed hands followed by Mailpac Group with 7.7 percent for 5.74 million units, Lumber Depot with 3.3 percent trading 2.43 million units, Jamaican Teas with 1.8 percent for 1.35 million units and Tropical Battery with 1.4 percent of the day’s trade for 1.07 million units.
Trading averaged 1,962,207 units at $3,210,954 up from 301,976 at $1,075,508 on Friday. Trading month to date averages 457,286 units at $1,077,386, up on 299,311 units at $853,420 on Friday. Trading in January averaged 232,651 units at $569,885.

Lumber Depot rose 40 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $2.50, after the swapping of 2,434,406 units and trading as at a record high of $2.65 before the close. Mailpac Group shed 47 cents to end at $3.49, with an exchange of 5,737,107 shares, as investors reacted negatively to the release of full-year earnings of 18 cents per share, driving the stock to $3.10 during the trading session. More gains for Junior Market

Rising stocks dominated trading on Friday and allowing Junior Market stocks to hold on to modest gains in the market index for a second consecutive day, with 53 percent of the stocks traded rising after an exchange of 75 percent more shares than on Thursday and values 135 percent higher.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands, up from 34 on Thursday and closed with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 11 declining and six ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index eked out a 7.52 points gain to close at 2,814.15, to be up 7.5 percent up for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 10,871,142 shares for $38,718,293 up sharply from 6,203,871 units at $16,459,757 on Thursday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 23 percent of total volume, after 2.51 million shares changed hands followed by Lasco Distributors with 21.5 percent of the day’s trade for 2.34 million units and Lasco Manufacturing with 17.2 percent market share for 1.87 million units.

Rising stocks outclassed declining ones by more than a two to one ratio in Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market activity on Friday leading to a decent bounce in the market indices on Thursday, with 92 percent jump in the value of stocks traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,748.93 points to 428,013.58, the Main Index advanced by 4,304.89 points to 390,278.54 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.88 points to close at 99.36.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, down from 44 on Thursday and closed with 25 rising, 11 declining and seven ended unchanged. The PE Ratio ended at an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Grounds lost by JSE Majors

Stocks gave back much of the gains generated on Wednesday with a loss of 77 percent of the gains in the market indices on Thursday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market after 66 percent fewer shares were exchanged at half the values of Wednesday traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,490.53 points to 423,264.65, the Main Index shed 2,253.82 points to 385,973.65 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.19 points to settle at 98.48.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 48 on Wednesday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Junior Market ekes out modest gains

Trading dipped with fewer securities trading on Thursday leading to an exchange of 15 percent fewer shares than on Wednesday with the value falling 26 percent leaving the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange to close with a modest rise in the market index.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands down from 39 on Wednesday resulting in the prices of 15 stocks rising, 12 declining and seven closing firm.
The Market Index eked out a 6.06 pints rise to finish at 2,806.63. The average PE Ratio ended at 14.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with 6,203,871 shares at $16,459,757 down from 7,260,452 units at $22,171,156 on Wednesday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 45.4 percent of total volume or 2.81 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 12.6 percent for 783,265 units and Tropical Battery with 11.1 percent with a transfer of 685,979 units.
Trading averaged 182,467 units at $484,111 in contrast to 186,165 at $568,491 on Wednesday. The month to date averaged 299,016 units at $828,895, compared to 312,587 units at $869,041 on Wednesday. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Indies Pharma increased by 10 cents to $2.90 with a transfer of 81,000 stocks, Iron Rock Insurance advanced 17 cents to $3.05 with 800 shares changing hands, Jamaican Teas gained 6 cents to settle at $2.99 with 2,814,874 stock units traded. Jetcon Corporation declined 5 cents to 69 cents with an exchange of 16,000 units, Knutsford Express jumped 55 cents to $6.75 trading 1,788 stocks, Lasco Distributors climbed 24 cents to $3.45 with the transfer of 3,000 shares. Lasco Manufacturing rose 5 cents to $4.25 with 108,611 stocks changing hands, Lumber Depot gained 18 cents to end at 52 weeks’ high of $2.18 with an ownership switch of 783,265 units, Mailpac Group advanced 10 cents to $4 with an exchange of 271,927 shares. Main Event fell 19 cents to $3.30 with 68,569 stocks crossing the exchange, Medical Disposables shed 39 cents to close at $4 with 18,414 units traded and Stationery and Office Supplies fell 24 cents to $4.29 after trading 2,000 shares.

Wednesday bounce

Stocks regained some of the ground lost on Tuesday with the volume of shares traded rising 162 percent and values climbing 200 percent over Tuesday as advancing stocks edged out declining ones, with the market closing with three securities ending at 52 weeks’ highs.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 3,222.51 points to 425,755.18, the Main Index advanced by 2,902.45 points to 388,227.47 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.01 points to settle at 98.29.
Trading ended with 48 securities changing hands, up from 44 on Tuesday and closed with 22 stocks rising, 21 declining and five remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.5 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 43,738,990 shares for $240,182,541 compared to 16,697,777 units at $80,072,023 on Tuesday. Pulse Investments led trading with 66.8 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 29.23 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 8.5 percent for 3.71 million units. Wigton Windfarm ended with 7.9 percent of the day’s trade for 3.47 million units, QWI Investments with 5.6 percent for 2.46 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 4 percent for 1.77 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 911,229 units at $5,003,803, compared to 379,495 shares at $1,819,819 on Tuesday. The month to date averaged 449,559 units at $2,675,448, in contrast to 380,091 units at $2,325,100 on the prior trading day. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Jamaica Stock Exchange shed 64 cents to finish at $17.66 after investors swapped 17,020 stocks, Kingston Wharves climbed $2.80 to $48 with 3,881 shares changing hands, Mayberry Jamaican Equities lost 39 cents to end at $6.85 with the swapping of 437 shares. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy fell $2.99 to close at $137.01 in an exchange of 328 stock units, NCB Financial rose $1 to $136 in trading 201,278 units, Palace Amusement jumped $50 to close at $1,050 in trading one unit. Pan Jam Investment fell by $1.30 to $65 with 7,378 stocks changing hands, Portland JSX rose $1.70 to $8.80 with an exchange of 100 shares, Proven Investments shed 73 cents to finish at $38 after crossing the market with 15,620 units. QWI Investments gained 10 cents in closing at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.20 in an exchange of 2,464,374 units, Sagicor Group gained $1.25 to close at $50.25 exchanging 5,218 stocks, Salada Foods declined by $3.90 to settle at $40 trading 118,884 shares and Seprod lost $2.20 and closed at $66.02, after exchanging 18,328 stocks.
