JSE majors now new year positive

Stocks rising and declining share the honours with 20 each, at the close of trading on Monday leaving to the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market to close above Friday’s close with the volume of shares traded falling 51 percent and values down 9 percent to Friday.
Several stocks posted strong gains leading the market into positive for the year to date, for only the second time since the start of the year, with January 5th being the only other day the market recorded gains over the 2020 close. The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,304.98 points to 436,954.70 at the close, the Main Index advanced 3,840.76 points to 398,369.57, but the JSE Financial Index slipped 037 points to 100.35.
Investors traded 49 Securities, up from 47 on Friday and closed with 20 rising, 20 declining and 9 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 19.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 18,062,183 shares for $101,989,445 compared to 35,675,257 units at $112,526,954 on Friday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 45 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 8.12 million shares followed by Pulse Investments with 21.4 percent for 3.86 million units, Sagicor Select Financial Fund 7.9 percent for 1.42 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 6.1 percent market share for 1.11 million units.

JSE Main Market recorded gains in 2021 for only the second time for the year when the market closed on Monday.

Trading for the day averaged 368,616 units at $2,081,417, compared to 759,048 shares at $2,394,191 on Friday. February closed with an average of 419,015 units at $2,509,660.

At the close, Barita Investments slipped 33 cents to $81.17, after exchanging 26,461 shares, Berger Paints closed 30 cents higher at $14.20, with 17,723 units changing hands. First Rock Jamaica lost 30 cents to end at $15 trading 3,126 stocks, Grace Kennedy climbed $4.50 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $89, with 194,627 shares changing hands. The stock traded upto $95 in response to a strong rise in profit, the company reported for 2020, Jamaica Broilers lost 26 cents to close at $28.74, with an exchange of 24,329 units. Jamaica Producers gained 25 cents to end at $20.45 in swapping 196,833 stocks, Key Insurance rose 76 cents to $4.77 trading 154,642 stock units, Kingston Properties rose $1.41 to $7.25, with 700 units crossing the exchange. Mayberry Investments ended 40 cents higher at $5.69, transferring 7,352 shares, NCB Financial fell 67 cents to $143.33 with an exchanging of 88,291 stock units, 1834 Investments fell 25 cents to 95 cents trading 2,120 units, 138 Student Living shed 70 cents to end at $5.30 while exchanging 1,700 stock units. Palace Amusement dropped $49 to $801, with 683 shares crossing the market, PanJam Investments rose $1 to $65, in an exchange of 13,660 stocks, Portland JSX ended $1.40 higher at $8.50, with the swapping of 2,000 units, Proven Investments climbed $3.40 to $39.40 trading 361 stock units. Sagicor Group declined $2 to finish at $50.10, in switching ownership of 81,964 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund gained 69 cents to close at $8.99 after 7,200 shares crossed the market, Salada Foods fell $3 to $41 in exchanging 6,514 stocks. Scotia Group declined $1.50 to $41 trading 271,291 units, Seprod gained 50 cents to close at $69.50, with the swapping of 34,072 shares, Supreme Ventures lost 50 cents to finish at $16.40 in switching ownership of 13,711 units and Wisynco Group lost 29 cents to close at $16, in transferring 134,237 stock units.

Slippage in Junior Market

Declining stocks just edged out those advancing at the close of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday, with the market declining after an exchange of 67 percent fewer shares, with a 50 percent less value than Friday.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands compared to 37 on Friday and closed with the prices of 13 rising, 14 declining and two ending unchanged.
The Junior Market Index dropped 19.74 points to 2,900.61. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 8,754,737 shares for $22,843,556, well off the 26,611,809 units at $45,997,837 on Friday. Derrimon Trading led trading with 31 percent of total volume, after exchanging 2.72 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 18.4 percent for 1.6 million units and Indies Pharma with 7.6 percent of the day’s trade for 664,045 units changing hands.
Trading averaged 243,187 units at $634,543 in contrast to 719,238 at $1,243,185 on Friday. February closed with an average of 365,365 units at $881,118.

Caribbean Flavours shed 21 cents to finish at $1.90, with 77,359 units crossing the market, Caribbean Producers ended 44 cents lower at $2.95 in an exchange of 165,544 stocks. Consolidated Bakeries fell 20 cents to $1.31 in trading 10,100 stock units, Derrimon Trading lost 7 cents to close at $2.51 after a transferring of 2,724,910 units, Elite Diagnostics gained 20 cents to finish at $3, with an exchange of 98,020 shares.  Everything Fresh gained 9 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.21, trading 461,735 stock units, Fosrich fell 74 cents to $4.65 in an exchange of 84,486 shares, General Accident declined 44 cents to $5.50 with the swapping of 15,900 units. February ends on a high note

Trading climbed on Friday with an exchange of 124 percent more shares valued 77 percent more than on Thursday as more stocks rose than declined on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market and ending with the market indices closing higher than the January close, almost wiping out the loss suffered since the start of the year.
The market should move higher during the coming week following record breaking results by Grace Kennedy with earnings of $6.26 that suggests the price should climb to over $100 and Caribbean Cement with record earnings of $3.76 and a likely price of $75. Technical indicators are also pointing to a run in the market to 437,000 points on the All Jamaica Composite Index in the short term.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 2,408.76 points to 432,649.72, the Main Index climbed 2,126.52 points to 394,528.81 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.78 points to settle at 100.72.
Trading ended with 47 active securities, the same as on Thursday and closed with prices of 21 rising, 15 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 17.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 35,675,257 shares for $112,526,954 compared to 15,923,380 units at $63,507,779 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 63.1 percent of total volume, after 22.50 million shares changed hands following comments from the company’s Managing Director, Earl Barrett, that the rate to be paid for energy produced by their phase two wind turbine will fall from 13 US cents to 5.6 us cents per Kilowatt hour effective April.  Sagicor Select Financial Fund followed with 12.9 percent for 4.60 million units, Pulse Investments 8.1 percent, with 2.88 million units, Ciboney Group chipped in for 3.7 percent with 1.32 million units and Key Insurance 3.4 percent trading 1.23 million units.

Junior Market stocks gain 10.5%

The volume of stocks trading on Friday surged 785 percent and the value climbed 45 percent higher than on Thursday, but the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market, just squeezed out a modest rise at the close on Friday, as the market closed out February five percent higher than January and 10.5 percent higher than December last year. 
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands compared to 41 on Thursday, with 17 stocks rising, 11 declining and nine ending unchanged. The market closed with Everything Fresh, Fosrich and  iCreate, ending at 52 weeks’ highs.
At the close, the Market Index inched 0.87 points higher to 2,920.35, the highest point since February 27 last year. The average PE Ratio ends at 15.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 26,611,809 shares for $45,997,837, up sharply from 3,006,108 units at $8,350,224 on Thursday. GWest Corporation led trading with 51 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 13.57 million shares followed by Indies Pharma with 22.3 percent for 5.92 million units, Derrimon Trading followed with 5.7 percent and 1.5 million units and Jamaican Teas 5.2 percent, with 1.40 million units changing hands.

Junior Market at one year high

Stocks inched to a new one year high of 2,919.48, after adding just 1.25 points as the volume and value of the day’s trade on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday were slashed by 56 and 53 percent, respectively, compared to Wednesday.

Trading ended with 41 securities against 39 on Wednesday, with 13 rising, 16 declining and 12 ending unchanged.

Ciboney drops 15% on Thursday

Ciboney Group price retreated after trading more than 2.5 million shares with the price falling 15 percent from Wednesday’s level on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday with the total volume of stocks trading fell 46 percent from Wednesday’s quantity as the value dropped 60 percent.
The All Jamaican Composite Index inched 3.97 points up to 430,240.96 the Main Index rose 15.10 points to 392,402.29, and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.14 points to settle at 99.94.
Trading ended with 47 securities changing hands, the same as on Wednesday and closed with prices of 14 stocks rising, 24 declining and nine ending unchanged.

Investorss exchanged 15,923,380 shares for $63,507,779 compared to 29,447,608 units at $158,590,501 on Wednesday. Ciboney stunning rise clocks gains of 783%

Ciboney continues to create waves in the Jamaican financial market. The price closed at a fresh new multi-year high not seen since 1993. In Wednesday’s trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, the stock last traded at $2.13 with year to date gain of 783 percent.

Trading picked dropped sharply on Wednesday, leading to a 50 percent fall in the volume of stocks passing through the exchange worth 58 percent less than Tuesday’s trades on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, but the market continued its advance to the highest level since it closed at 2,922.18 on February 27, last year.
The Junior Market Index rose 10.75 points to close at 2,918.23 to be up 10.4 percent for the year to date. Early in the morning session, the index hit a 2,949.48 points level that is higher than the close on February 21, last year.
Trading ended with 39 securities down from 41 on Tuesday, with 18 rising, 13 declining and eight remaining unchanged.
The average PE Ratio ends at 15.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors traded 6,761,477 shares for $17,884,137 compared to 13,487,893 units at $42,784,456 on Tuesday.
Derrimon Trading led the market with 16.8 percent of total volume with 1.14 million shares, followed by Tropical Battery with 13.1 percent or 886,995 units and Caribbean Flavours with 11 percent and 741,946 stock units.
Trading averaged 173,371 units at $458,568 in contrast to 328,973 at $1,043,523 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 363,591 units at $903,906, down from 376,123 units at $933,244 on Tuesday. January closed with an average of 232,651 units at $569,885.

Fontana gained 7 cents to close at $6.07 with an exchange of 310,702 units, Fosrich rose 10 cents to $4.30 with 60,214 shares changing hands, General Accident slipped 5 cents to $5.50 with 31,100 shares passing through the market. iCreate advanced 16 cents to 81 cents with 691,952 shares traded, Indies Pharma dropped 15 cents to $3.25 with a transfer of 538,426 stocks, Iron Rock Insurance declined 5 cents to $3.70 with an exchange of 624 units. ISP Finance jumped $3.30 to $25.30 with 59 shares changing hands, KLE Group gained 7 cents to close at $1.40 with 3,345 shares passing through the market, Knutsford Express shed 62 cents to $6.18 trading 3,500 stocks. Lasco Distributors climbed 22 cents to $3.87 with a transfer of 136,000 shares, Lasco Financial rose 10 cents to $2.60 with an exchange of 19,750 units, Lasco Manufacturing fell 12 cents to $4.26 with 282,351 units changing hands. Mailpac Group gained 13 cents to finish at $3.62 with 480,450 stock units passing through the market, Main Event fell 27 cents to $3.30, trading 9 shares, Stationery and Office Supplies increased by 18 cents to settle at $4.53 with a transfer of 300 stock units and tTech advanced 20 cents to close at $4.90 with 4,201 shares crossing the exchange.

Ciboney stunning 613% two months’ gain

Ciboney Group continued its extraordinary run by climbing 31 cents to finish at a new multi-year high of $1.71 on Tuesday with trading 1,438,112 units being bought by stock market investors as they pushed the gains for the year to date to 613 percent, with the stock being the leading winner of on the market so far in 2021.
Trading ended with stocks playing hopscotch, one day up one day down, on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, with the market declining after almost the same number of stocks rose as fell. The value of trading climbed 202 percent, with only 23 percent more shares exchanged than on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index lost 513.21 points to end at 430,063.30, the Main Index shed 464.43 points to 392,238.37 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.33 points to settle at 100.13.
Trading ended with 46 securities changing hands, down from 47 on Monday and closed with 19 stocks rising, 20 declining and seven remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 17 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders swapped 20,247,118 shares for $191,400,586 up from 16,438,991 units at $63,472,730 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 24.1 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 4.88 million shares followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund 16.9 percent with 3.41 million units, Wigton Windfarm 11.3 percent for 2.29 million units. QWI Investments ended with 9.8 percent of the day’s trade for 1.99 million units, Ciboney Group 7.1 percent for 1.44 million units, Sagicor Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 6 percent for 1.22 million units and Grace Kennedy with 5.2 percent market share for 1.05 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 440,155 units at $4,160,882, versus 349,766 shares at $1,350,484 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 389,008 units at $2,535,940, in contrast to 385,578 units at $2,426,979 on the prior trading day. Trading in January closed with an average of 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Jamaica Stock Exchange advanced $1.15 to $18.86, with 17,936 units crossing the exchange, JMMB Group ended 44 cents lower at $32.56 after transferring 44,530 shares, Kingston Wharves climbed $1.50 to $46.50 after an exchange of 2,500 stocks. 138 Student Living rose 45 cents to $6.50 after exchanging 8,916 units, PanJam Investment shed 50 cents to end at $65, in switching ownership of 43,014 shares, Proven Investments lost 33 cents to $37.20 trading 11,441 stock units, Sagicor Group fell 70 cents to $51 with 20,215 stocks clearing the market. Salada Foods advanced $2.99 to $39.99, with the swapping of 40,380 units, Scotia Group declined by $1.25 to $41.75, after exchanging 132,995 shares, Seprod shed $1 in closing at $68 with 3,164 stock units changing hands. Sygnus Credit Investments fell $1.10 to $14.50, in exchanging 51,037 units and Wisynco Group shed 95 cents to close at $15.55, with 94,561 shares changing hands.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.75% preference share shed 55 cents in closing at $6.85, with 634 units crossing the market.

Caribbean Producers surprise gains

In another surprising move, Caribbean Producers traded 8,622,338 shares after jumping 80 cents to close at $4, on Tuesday the highest closing price since March last year and helping to send the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange market index to the highest levels since the end of February last year when it closed then at 2,911.92 points.

Caribbean Producers traded 8.6 million shares on Tuesday.

Trading ended with 41 securities changing hands, up from 40 on Monday and closed with the prices of 18 stocks rising, 13 declining and 10 remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index climbed 35.59 points to close at 2,907.48, up 10 percent for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 15.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading levels rebounded with a 123 percent rise in the volume over Monday with 13,487,893 shares for and values 140 percent higher than on Monday jump in the value to $42,784,456, up from 6,033,662 units at $17,830,831 on Monday. Caribbean Producers led trading with 63.9 percent of total volume, after 8.62 million shares changed hands, followed by Derrimon Trading 8.7 percent with 1.17 million units and Mailpac Group with 4.9 percent for 665,514 units.
Trading averaged 328,973 units at $1,043,523 well upon 150,842 at $445,771 on Monday. The month to date averaged 376,123 units at $933,244, close to the 379,631 units at $925,038 on Monday. Trading in January averaged 232,651 units at $569,885.

Express Catering rose 32 cents to $3.62 in exchanging 19,618 shares, Fontana lost 14 cents to close at $6 in switching ownership of 176,450 units, Fosrich lost 10 cents to close at $4.20 trading 41,467 stocks, iCreate rose 6 cents in closing at 65 cents and exchanging 630,357 stock units. Indies Pharma gained 18 cents to settle at $3.40, with 52,244 shares crossing the market, Iron Rock Insurance advanced 23 cents to $3.75, with a transfer of 22,000 units, Jamaican Teas fell 13 cents to $3.33, exchanging 321,133 stock units. Jetcon Corporation gained 13 cents to 79 cents, with 145,898 shares changing hands, KLE Group picked up 17 cents at $1.33 after a transfer of 749 stock units, Lasco Distributors gained 5 cents to end at $3.65, in swapping 28,720 stocks. Lasco Financial lost 20 cents to close at $2.50, trading 135,748 units, Lasco Manufacturing shed 35 cents to end at $4.38, with an exchange of 33,412 shares, Mailpac Group lost 15 cents to close at $3.49, in trading 665,514 units. Main Event shed 42 cents to end at $3.03 after crossing the market with 14,500 shares and Stationery and Office Supplies ended 18 cents lower at $4.35 in the transfer of 25,000 stock units.
