Volume plunges and indices dip on TTSE

Market activity ended on Wednesday and resulted in more stocks rising than falling, after 69 percent fewer shares, with an exchange of 74 percent less value than on Tuesday, at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
Overall, 17 securities traded compared to 18 on Tuesday, with six stocks rising, six declining and five remaining unchanged. The Composite Index lost 1.72 points to 1,417.04, the All T&T Index slipped 1.93 points to settle at 1,926.11 and the Cross-Listed Index fell 0.21 points to 122.25.
Overall, 43,901 shares traded for $1,213,339, down from 140,754 units at $4,730,171 on Tuesday. An average of 2,582 units traded for  $71,373 compared to 7,820 at $262,787 on Tuesday, with the month to date averaging 25,381 units at $246,483 compared to 26,585 units at $255,728. The average trade for September amounts to 36,606 units at $425,940.

At the close, Agostini’s ended at $24.50 after an exchange of 62 shares, Angostura Holdings remained at $17.08 in switching ownership of 1,000 stock units, Calypso Macro Investment Fund increased 1 cent in closing at $17.01, with 80 stocks crossing the market. Clico Investment Fund ended at $26.79 with an exchange of 4,853 units, Endeavour Holdings advanced 43 cents to $7.48 after finishing trading of 373 stock units, First Citizens Group climbed 15 cents to close at $50.75 in an exchange of 4,874 units. Trading jumps sharply on TTSE

Trading jumped sharply on Wednesday, helped by a rise in the number of securities changing hands and a 621 percent surge in the number of shares traded, with the value jumping 144 percent over Tuesday, at the close of Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. 

Republic Holdings controlled the largest block of funds in trading on Wednesday.

At the close, 22 securities traded compared to 20 on Tuesday, with six rising, seven declining and nine ending unchanged. The Composite Index shed 8.19 points to 1,424.10 the All T&T Index lost 1.82 points to close at 1,937.37 and the Cross-Listed Index fell 2.10 points to settle at 122.61.
A total of 557,432 shares traded, for $10,945,052 compared to 77,295 units at $3,432,431 on Tuesday. The leading trades were, Republic Financial with 26,285 units valued at $3.568 million, First Citzens Group Financial 50,857 shares for $2.576 million, Massy holding 23,252 shares valued $1.95 million and Scotiabank 16,803 shares for 1.04 million.
An average of 25,338 units traded at $497,502 compared to 3,865 at $171,622 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 31,832 units at $280,070 versus 32,443 units at $259,628. The average trade for September amounts to 36,606 units at $425,940.

Activity fell markedly on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday after fewer securities traded and resulted in 76 percent fewer shares changing hands with 63 percent lower value than on Tuesday, leaving more stocks rising than falling at the close.
Sixteen securities traded down from 20 on Tuesday at the close, with five rising, two declining and nine remaining unchanged. The Composite Index popped 1.38 points to 1,435.29, the All T&T Index rose 0.67 points to close at  1,940.41 and the Cross-Listed Index added 0.30 points to settle at 125.40.
A total of 102,882 shares traded, for $1,598,024 down from 422,298 units at $4,331,345 on Tuesday. An average of 6,430 units traded at $99,877, down from 21,115 at $216,567 on Tuesday, with trading month to date averaging 40,560 units at $288,030 compared to 44,201 units at $308,100. Scotiabank closed at $59, after trading at 9,817 shares, Trinidad & Tobago NGL slipped 22 cents to $17.50 while exchanging 11,656 stock units, Trinidad Cement rose 6 cents to $3.96, with 65 stocks changing hands, Unilever Caribbean settled at $16.35 with the swapping of 144,571 stock units and West Indian Tobacco remained at $32 with an exchange of 8,172 shares.
