54% Express Catering IPO shares trade

Starbucks one of the brands Express Catering will sell at the Montego Bay Airport.

Investors traded 71.6 million of Express Catering shares in Junior Market activity on Thursday. The day’s trade brings the total since the company’s shares were listed in the previous week, to 176,255,281 units, a very high 54 percent of the 327,500,000 units sold in the Initial Public Offer (IPO).
“A number of the large investors in the stock who had planned to hold them for a while, decided to take profit in light of the sharp uptick in the stock price,“ Gary Peart of Mayberry Investments, brokers to the IPO, advised IC Insider.com. Peart also stated that there was strong institutional demand for the stock as well. The stock traded over 70 million units for the second day running having traded 71,996,755 units on Wednesday. Express Catering’s stock price closed with a rise of 30 cents to end at a record closing high of $4.60 with 71,508,426 units traded.
Trading on the Junior Market remained high on Thursday with 72,244,997 shares changing hands valued at $309,765,128, from 73,477,574 shares valued at $263,785,025 traded on Wednesday. At the close, the market index rose 30.21 points to 3,126.43.

Junior Market declines slow on Tuesday

The Junior Market trading sank to an extreme on Tuesday, as trading levels dipped 54 percent from Monday’s levels on top of the 77 percent fall on Monday from Friday’s trades.
The market index continued it decent but at a more moderate pace of 19 points, far less than 60 and 69 points fall, on the two previous trading days.
Market activity resulted in 16 securities trading versus 18 on Monday, with the price of 5 advancing and 4 declining stocks and leading to the index closing at 2,979.23 having lost 19.19 points. Investors exchanged just 185,394 units valued at $1,541,248.37 compared with a mere 405,167 units valued at $2,384,673 on Monday.

The Junior Market recovered lost ground on Friday as the market index jumped 57.14 points to end at 3,222.25. Volume traded suffered a 28 percent reduction and the value of stocks trading dropped 52 percent, compared to trading on Thursday.
The junior Market closed with 1,459,166 units valued at $7,939,041 traded compared with 2,034,224 units valued at $16,616,055 on Thursday.
Trading closed with 23 securities versus 18 on Thursday leading to 11 stocks rising and 9 declining and with 6 stocks having higher bids than their last traded prices and 2 closing with lower offers.

General Accident rose 65 cents and closed trading with 6,000 shares at $3.35, Honey Bun lost 44 cents in trading 5,300 shares changing hands and closed at $5.60, ISP Finance lost $2 and ended at $18 with 17,019 units changing hands. Jamaican Teas traded 19,000 shares, losing 20 cents to end at $4.20, Jetcon Corporation climbed 58 cents and ended at $5.49 with 947,393 shares trading, Knutsford Express traded 10,400 shares but lost 25 cents to end at $15.70. Lasco Distributors ended at $7 after rising 10 cents trading 1,000 units, Lasco Financial gained 15 cents with 100 shares changing hands, to end at $3.75, Lasco Manufacturing added 35 cents and ended with 8,100 shares trading to close at $5, Main Event dropped 62 cents and ended trading 24,937 shares at $5.25, Paramount Trading added 7 cents and ended at $3.02 with 32,000 units trading, Sweet River fell 5 cents and ended with 5,006 units changing hands at $3.50, tTech ended with 5,770 units changing hands and fell 20 cents to close at $7.80 and< strong> Derrimon Trading preference share rose 30 cents to end at $2.50 with 150,000 shares changing hands.
