Pull back for JSE Main & Junior Markets

The Main Market and Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange gave back some of the gains garnered over the past few trading sessions but the JSE USD market closed higher for the second day of trading as the overall trading levels in the markets pulled back from those of Friday and Tuesday, with the market weighed down by more big falling prices than those rising.
At the close of trading, 13,087,775 shares were exchanged in all three markets, down from 21,294,970 units on Tuesday,
with the value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets amounted to $69.13 million, down compared with $81.4 million on Tuesday and the JSE USD market closed after 163,964 shares were traded, for US$2,851 compared to 51,389 units at US$5,071 on Tuesday.
Main Market trading was dominated by Wigton Windfarm led trading with 1.78 million shares for 25.4 percent of total volume followed by Jamaica Stock Exchange with 1.43 million units for 20.4 percent of the day’s trade and Transjamaican Highway with 637,525 units.
In the Junior Market, Lasco Financial led trading with 2.96 million shares, followed by AMG Packaging with 557,050 units and One Great Studio with 492,557 units.
At the close of the market, Main Market stocks rallying were AS Bryden, with a gain of $3.01 to $33.11, Seprod climbing $2.91 to $82.90, Wisynco Group up $1.25 to close at $22.30.
Declining Main Market stocks included, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund skidded $3 to end at $37, Caribbean Cement lost $1.82 and ended at $57.66, NCB Financial down $1.50 and ended at $66.50 and Scotia Group up $1 to $38.50.
Rising Junior Market stocks include AMG Packaging advancing $1.50 to $3.90 and Main Event increasing $1.20 in closing at $14.34. Falling stocks include Access Financial down $2.29 to close at $25.20 and Cargo Handlers declining $1.84 to end at $13.08.
At the close of trading, the JSE Combined Market Index dropped 4,040.80 points to 337,053.00, the All Jamaican Composite Index skidded 5,765.35 points to lock up trading at 362,383.22, the JSE Main Index lost 3,566.78 points to end at 324,258.49. The Junior Market Index dropped 79.45 points to conclude trading at 3,762.30 and the JSE USD Market Index gained 1.52 points to settle at 239.33.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.75% preference share popped $3.99 to $22.99.

New year’s bounce for JSE USD Market

US dollar denominated stocks pushed the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market higher to start off the new year on a positive note when trading ended on Tuesday as the volume of stocks changing hands declined by 86 percent with the value 79 percent lower than on Friday, resulting in seven securities being traded, compared to 10 on Friday with two rising, three declining and two ending unchanged.
At the close of market activity, 51,389 shares were traded, for US$5,071 compared to 367,867 units at US$23,588 on Friday.
Trading averaged 7,341 units at US$724 versus 36,787 shares at US$2,359 on Friday, compared to December with an average of 28,010 units for US$1,403.
The US Denominated Equities Index gained 6.62 points to cease trading at 237.81.

Sterling Investments remained at 1.6 US cents while exchanging 6,205 units, Sygnus Credit Investments popped 0.01 of a cent to 8.01 US cents with a transfer of 1,000 shares and Transjamaican Highway skidded 0.11 of one cent to 1.63 US cents after an exchange of 35,445 stocks.
In the preference segment, Productive Business Solutions 9.25% preference share popped 30 cents and ended at US$11.50 in switching ownership of 124 units.

Stock prices fall but JSE rises to start 2024

The Main Market and USD Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed to start the new year at the close on Tuesday but the Junior Market slipped modestly following b gains on Friday, with trading dropping sharply from the year close on Friday, notwithstanding the gains in the market, trading ended with declining dominating those rising on the first day of the year.
At the close of trading, 21,294,970 shares were exchanged in all three markets, down from 107,792,193 units on Friday, with the value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets amounted to $81.4 million, down from $952.3 million on Friday. The JSE USD market closed after 51,389 shares were traded for US$5,071 compared to 367,867 units at US$23,662 on Friday.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund was the dominant trade in the Main Market, with 3.15 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 2.45 million units and Ciboney Group, 1.98 million units. In the Junior Market, EduFocal led trading with 2.46 million shares followed by One Great Studio with 1.59 million units and Future Energy, 665,397 stock units.
At the close of trading, Main Market stocks rallying were Guardian Holdings jumping $49.98 and ended at $399.98, Eppley popping $2.04 to close at $38.04, Scotia Group up $1.10 and ended at $39.50 and Massy Holdings advancing $1 to end at $91.
Declining Main Market stocks included AS Bryden, with a decline of $3.01 and ended at $30.10, Barita Investments falling $3.98 to $73, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $2.10 to $40, JMMB Group skidded $1 to $25, NCB Financial lost $1.99 to $68, followed by Sagicor Group skidding $2.50 to $47, Seprod declining $2.51 to end at $79.99 and Supreme Ventures shedding $2 in closing at $25.
Rising Junior Market stocks include ISP Finance and Access Financial up $2.49 each and Dolphin Cove up $1.27. Falling stocks include Main Event dropping 76 cents, AMG Packaging skidding 62 cents and Spur Tree Spices with a fall of 40 cents.
At the close of trading, the JSE Combined Market Index jumped 1,935.67 points to close at 341,093.80, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,130.72 points to 368,148.57, the JSE Main Index increased 2,125.48 points to end at 327,825.27. The Junior Market Index lost 6.58 points to end at 3,841.75 and the JSE USD Market Index gained 6.62 points to culminate at 237.81.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.75% preference share dropped $3 to $19.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Friday, with a 1,081 percent jump in the volume of stocks changing hands and the value jumping 3,472 percent more than on Thursday, resulting in the trading of 10 securities up from five on Thursday and ended with five rising, two declining and three ending unchanged.
Overall, 367,867 shares were traded, for US$23,588 compared with 31,154 units at US$662 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 36,787 units at US$2,359 versus 6,231 shares at US$132 on Thursday, with a month to date average of 28,010 shares at US$1,403 compared with 27,035 units at US$1,296 on the previous day. November ended with an average of 249,102 units for US$14,204.

In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% fell 4 cents in closing at US$1.01 with investors dealing in 500 shares and Productive Business Solutions 9.25% preference share gained 20 cents to close at US$11.20 after just 4 stocks were traded.

Trading remained low keyed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market on Thursday, with the volume of stocks changing hands declining 76 percent valued 90 percent lower than on Wednesday, with just 31,154 shares traded for US$662 down from 127,343 units at US$6,740 on Wednesday and resulting in trading in five securities, compared to six on Wednesday with one rising, two declining and two ending unchanged.
Trading averaged 6,231 units at US$132, versus 21,224 shares at US$1,123 on Wednesday, with a month to date average of 27,035 shares at US$1,296 compared with 28,258 units at US$1,365 on the previous day and well off from November with an average of 249,102 units for US$14,204.
The US Denominated Equities Index gained 2.06 points to 224.49.

Stocks prices surged on the Jamaican Stock Exchange

All three markets of the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose on Thursday following the sharp jump on Wednesday as trading on the Main Market exceeded Wednesday levels as investors traded 54.7 million shares in that market for $833 million on Thursday. Trading fell off in the Junior Market but the index surged as did the all Jamaica Composite index as investors pushed the top 10 stocks up by more than $1 and as high as $4.48, while declining stock price changes were subdued.
A total of 65,137,916 shares, were traded in all three markets, from 132,966,020 units on Wednesday.
The value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets totalled $857.26 million, down from $1.06 billion on Wednesday. The JSE USD market closed after 31,154 shares were traded for US$662 compared to 127,343 units at US$6,740 on Wednesday.
Carreras was one of a number of stocks dominating trading  Thursday, with an exchange of 24.28 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm with 7.82 million units, Wisynco Group ended with 4.36 million units, Radio Jamaica, chipped in with 3.71 million stock units, NCB Financial closed with an exchange of 3.06 million shares and Scotia Group with 2.42 million units and in the Junior Market, Spur Tree Spices ended with an exchange of 3.09 million shares.
At the close of trading on Thursday, the JSE Combined Market Index jumped 4,106.46 points to 334,623.18, the All Jamaican Composite Index surged 6,057.90 points to 360,454.68, the JSE Main Index rallied 3,911.29 points to end trading at 321,471.63. The Junior Market Index surged 50.05 points to end at 3,783.30 and the JSE USD Market Index rose 1.89 points to wrap-up trading at 224.35.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share sank $17.10 in closing at $96.90.

Subdued trading on the JSE USD Market

Trading resumed on Wednesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market after the break for the Christmas Holidays and ended with a 20 percent decline in the volume of stocks changing hands but with 146 percent greater value than on Friday, resulting in trading in six securities, similar to Friday and ended with prices of three stocks rising, one declining and two ending unchanged.
At the close of trading, 127,343 shares were exchanged at US$6,740 compared with 159,494 stock units at US$2,742 on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 21,224 shares at US$1,123 compared to 26,582 shares at US$457 on Friday, with a month to date average of 28,258 units at US$1,365 compared with 28,793 stock units at US$1,383 previously. November ended with an average of 249,102 shares for US$14,204.

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market ended on Friday, with the volume of stocks changing hands surging 2,344 percent valued at 758 percent more than on Thursday and resulting in the trading of six securities, compared to three on Thursday with none rising, one declining and five ending unchanged.
Overall, 159,494 shares were traded, for US$2,742 compared with 6,525 units at US$320 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 26,582 shares for US$457 compared with 2,175 units at US$107 on Thursday. Trading for the month to date averages 28,793 shares at US$1,383 compared to 28,974 units at US$1,459 on the previous day, well off from November, with an average of 249,102 units for US$14,204.
The US Denominated Equities Index dipped 2.03 points to 221.10.

Trading surges on Jamaica Stock Exchange  

Trading surged sharply on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with the Junior market listed Mailpac Group trading 50.04 million shares, Jamaican Teas, 32.66 million units, Future Energy 10.9 million units and Spur Tree Spices with 1.84 million units, while in the Main Market, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 10 million shares followed by Sygnus Credit Investments with 5.84 million units, Jamaica Producers 2.87 million units and Pan Jamaica with 1.50 million units as a total of 123,026,015 shares were traded in all three markets, up sharply from just 10,449,490 units on Tuesday.
The value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets surged to $527.23 million compared with a mere $48.29 million on Thursday. The JSE USD market closed after 159,494 shares were traded, for US$2,742 compared to 6,525 units at US$320 on Thursday.
At the close of the market, Main Market stocks rallying were GraceKennedy up $3.59, Eppley Caribbean Property with a rise of $2.60, Seprod rose $1, Scotia Group closing at a new 52 weeks’ closing high of $38.40, after gaining 90 cents and MPC Caribbean Energy rose 88 cents. Falling Main Market stocks were mostly modest except for Eppley down $4.48 and Jamaica Producers with a fall of $1.47.
Rising Junior Market stocks include Caribbean Cream with a gain of 64 cents, Iron Rock Insurance up 49 cents, Dolphin Cove with a gain of 44 cents and Spur Tree gaining 25 cents. There were declining stocks of note.
At the close of trading, the JSE Combined Market Index rose 1,162.73 points to close at 328,594.68, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 1,555.49 points to lock up trading at 353,538.78, the JSE Main Index rallied by 812.63 points to end trading at 316,798.45. The Junior Market Index rallied 45.75 points to end the day at 3,728.14 and the JSE USD Market Index skidded 2.03 points to wrap up trading at 221.10.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 7% rallied $4 to end at $45 and Productive Business Solutions 9.75% preference share advanced $4.50 and ended at $120.

JSE Main & USD markets gains, Juniors slip

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange gained at the close of trading on Thursday, with the USD Market also closing higher as the Junior Market slipped to close out trading, with market activity ending with the volume and value of stocks traded falling below Wednesday’s levels on the penultimate day before the Christmas break for the market.
At the close of the market, Main Market stocks rallying were Jamaica Broilers with a gain of $1.49, Sagicor Group up $1 and Scotia Group closing at a new 52 weeks’ closing high of $37.50, after gaining 38 cents. Declining Main Market stocks include GraceKennedy down $2.17 and Barita Investments with a fall of 90 cents.
Rising Junior Market stocks include Main Event with a gain of 40 cents, Blue Power up 37 cents, and AMG Packaging gaining 33 cents. Declining stocks include Medical Disposables falling 42 cents followed by Caribbean Cream with a loss of 31 cents and Iron Rock Insurance down 44 cents.
At the close of trading, the JSE Combined Market Index rose 512.77 points to 328,594.68, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 571.53 points to wrap up trading at 351,983.29, the JSE Main Index popped 723.66 points to 315,985.82. The Junior Market Index dipped 18.95 points to wrap-up trading at 3,682.39 and the JSE USD Market Index gained 4.25 points to finish at 223.13.
Investors traded 10,449,490 shares, in all three markets, down from 13,761,322 units on Tuesday. The value of stocks traded on the Junior and Main markets amounts to $48.29 million compared with $65.97 million on Tuesday. The JSE USD market closed after just 6,525 shares were traded, for US$320 compared to 130,502 units at US$2,973 on Wednesday.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 7% rallied $1 to $41 and Productive Business Solutions 10.5 % preference share lost $30 to end at $1,060.
