JSE makes big recovery on Tuesday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed a big gain on Tuesday as trading levels rose much higher than on Monday, from 34 active securities in the main and US dollar market compared to 31 on Monday.
The market ended with the prices of 17 securities rising, 7 declining while 10 remained unchanged leading to the All Jamaica Composite Index surging 8,178.20 points to close at 398,615.81 and the JSE Index jumping 7,451.27 points to close at 363,184.12.
Trading closed with 10,005,164 units valued at $94,380,140 trading, compared with just 3,098,511 units valued at $31,049,457 changing hands, on Monday.
Main market trading closed with JMMB Group 7.50% preference share leading with 7,780,000 units trading, or 78 percent of the day’s volume and NCB Financial with 517,883 units and 5 percent of volume traded and Carreras closed with 372,736 units with 3.7 percent of the day’s volume.

More stocks less volume trade on JSE – Tuesday

The number of securities trading rose on Tuesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange main and US markets to 36 up from 32 on Monday but with less volume of 2,431,671 units valued at $40,003,992 compared with 5,670,913 units valued at $98,003,071 changing hands, on Monday.
Trading closed with Ciboney leading with 1,039,900 units and 42.7 percent of the day’s volume, followed by Scotia Group trading 255,885 shares or 10.5 percent of the day’s volume and Carreras with 166,800 units and 7 percent of volume traded.
The market ended with the prices of 13 securities rising, 9 declining while 14 remained unchanged leading to the All Jamaica Composite Index in slipping 44.99 points to 399,117.95 and the JSE Index falling by 40.99 points to close at 363,641.63. During the morning session the market was up more than 6,000 points with NCB Financial trading up to $128.25.

Record high for JSE – Friday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market captured another record high, in trading on Friday, with the All Jamaica Composite Index hitting 419,855.25 with just 40 minutes before midday.

JSE in sharp drop on Wednesday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market dropped sharply on Wednesday with increased market activity but with rising stocks outpacing falling ones by 80 percent.
At the end of trading, All Jamaica Composite Index dropped 3,927.81 points to 412,448.36 and the JSE Index declined by 3,578.68 points to close at 375,787.14.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 5 stocks ending with bids higher than the last selling prices and 2 closing with lower offers, suggesting a fairly even match, between rising and declining stocks on Thursday.

All Jamaica hits new record but falters

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market declined on Monday after posting another intraday high of 418,00.53 Points.
At the end of trading, All Jamaica Composite Index lost 1,050.58 points to close at 415,905.53 and the JSE Index fell 957.20 points to 378,937.01.

Trading in the US dollar market closed with 70,385 units valued at $22,180 as JMMB Group 6 percent preference share concluded trading of 50,000 shares at $1.06, Margaritaville rose 4.1 cents and ended at $0.24 with 1,200 shares trading and Proven Investments traded 3,200 shares to close at 23 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 1.73 points to close at 174.64.

At the end of trading All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 2,242.60 points to a record close of 405,342.89 and the JSE Index rose 2,043.26 points to a record close of 369,313.24.
A total of 29 securities traded including 2 in the US dollar market, compared to 33 trading on Monday with the prices of 20 securities rising, 5 declining and 4 that held firm. The market closed with 4 new highs with three closing at a 52 weeks’ high and Radio Jamaica trading at a 52 week’s low of 90 cents.
