Witco drops $5 to new 5 years low

West Indian Tobacco hits 52 weeks’ low on Thursday.

At close of trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday, West Indian Tobacco suffered a big fall of $5 and ended at a 5 years’ low of $85, as the price continues to adjust to lower profits for 2017.
The fall in the price of Witco, plus 4 others helped to push the two main indices down at the close of trading, leading to the Composite Index in shedding 4.05 points to 1,273.77. The All T&T Index fell 8.24 points to 1,705.89, while Cross Listed Index gained 0.03 points to close at 113.58.

Unilever Caribbean added $1 to close at $29.

A total of 17 securities traded the market on Thursday against 11 on Wednesday, with 3 advancing, 5 declining and 9 remaining unchanged.
Market activity ended with 295,409 shares with a value of $3,238,095 traded, compared to 138,336 shares with a value of $1,844,415 on Wednesday.

West Indian Tobacco at 5 years’ Low

NCB shares trading at a 52 weeks’ high on the TTSE

With the Trinidad & Tobago economy in recession a number of companies are facing tough times one such is West Indian Tobacco that dented the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange index by 1.14 percent on Thursday as the price tumbled $10 to a 5 years’ low of $90, while trading 191 shares.
While Witco was trading at a 5 years’ low, Jamaica’s NCB Financial traded at a new 52 weeks’ high of $6.75 on Thursday.
The market closed with the Composite Index falling 8.81 points to 1,264.88. The All T&T Index dropped 19.64 points to 1,707.60, while the Cross Listed Index inched 0.30 points higher to close at 110.91.
Market activity ended with 336,338 shares trading with a value of $ $4,978,967 compared to 165,319 units on Wednesday, valued at $2,450,124. Trading ended 16 securities changing hands compared to 14 on Wednesday and closed with 5 stocks advancing, 5 declining as 6 remained unchanged.

Trinidad stocks down for second year

A lackluster year came to an end for Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday with trading in 14 securities against 11 on Thursday, with 4 stocks advancing, 3 declining with 7 closing unchanged.
The year closed with Composite Index rising 0.92 points on Friday to 1,266.35 with a rise of 4.7 percent for the year. The All T&T Index declined 1.16 points to 1,728.75, increasing the year’s fall to 5.75 percent while the Cross Listed Index inched 0.41 points higher to close at 108.38 for a gain of 38.12 percent for the full year. In 2016 Trinidad stocks lost 5.86 percent after ending 2015 with no change.
Market activity ended with a mere 109,529 shares with a value of $2,139,960 traded, rising above the 95,251 units changing hands on Thursday, valued at $1,845,641.
