Trading levels hit rock bottom on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday May 19, when less than 1 million units valued at a mere $11.8 million traded has been rebounding with this Friday’s level being the highest since Thursday last week. On Friday the value of traded stocks almost doubled that of Thursday this week.
Trading improved on the Monday with $31 million of trades but fell back on Wednesday to $27 million and picked up to $37 million on Thursday before moving higher on Friday. New record close for JSE – Monday
Carreras climbed to a 52 weeks’ high of $81.95.
The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed a record high on Monday following record close on Friday. The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 213.39 points to close at a record 261,960.04 the JSE Market Index gained 194.42 points to finish at new record of 238,675.26 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 0.45 points to close at 218.32.
Trading levels in the main market ended at 4,670,861 units valued at $78,264,470 compared to 4,918,036 units valued at $117,841,841 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 10,855 units valued at US$4,017. At the close, 28 securities changed hands in the main market and 3 in the US dollar market as 15 stocks advanced and 8 declined including 4 that traded at 52 weeks’ high during the day.

Carreras gained $1.95 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $81.95 exchanging 13,000 shares, Grace Kennedy jumped $1.15 and closed at $42.50, trading 39,050 units, Jamaica Broilers closed at $18, gaining 49 cents with 233,299 shares trading, Jamaica Producers closed $1.19 lower to $16, with 159,742 shares changing owners, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 50 cents to close at $7.50 trading 215,846 shares. Berger Paints hits new high on Friday.
The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday at record high with the indices climbing close to 1,000 points and betters the record high reached on Thursday. A total of 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 2 trading in the US dollar market. At the close, 10 stocks advanced and 9 declined.
Trading levels in the main market ended at 4,918,036 units valued at $117,841,841 compared to 3,535,180 units valued at $98,920,695 at the close on Thursday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 16,372 units valued at US$4,761.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 846.50 points to close at 261,746.65 the JSE Market Index gained 771.26 points to finish at 238,480.84 and the JSE US dollar market index rose 6.16 points to close at 218.77.
