Gains for TTSE market – Monday

Market activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange ended Monday with 15 securities changing hands against 17 on Friday, with four stocks advancing, two declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close of the market, the Composite Index rose 4.73 points to 1,457.19. The All T&T Index gained 4.38 points to 1,827.44, while the Cross Listed Index added 0.69 points to close at 147.30 as two stocks closed at 52 weeks’ high and one ended at a 52 weeks’ low.
Investors traded 369,862 shares amounting to $5,832,895 compared to 790,993 shares amounting to $4,244,292 on Friday.

Witco $5 surge creates big index gains

West Indian Tobacco jumped $5.02 to a 52 weeks’ high of $40, with investors exchanging 700 shares, to record the first trade since the price adjusted for the three for one split last week. The move helped along with increases in eight other stocks to push the All T&T Index up by 1.56 percent for the day.
At the close of the market, bids to buy the stock rose to 23,980 units at $40 up from 20,465 units on Monday. The market closed with no shares offered for sale.
At the close of the market, the All T&T Index surged 27.88 points to 1,811.56, while the Cross Listed Index rose 1.18 points to close at 146.12 as prices of 9 stocks rose, 3 declined while 5 remained unchanged, leading the Composite Index to climb 18.33 points to 1,444.91.

Republic’s Monday’s gains reversed

The Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange dropped sharply at the close on Tuesday as investors pushed back Republic Holdings down to $125 at the end along with others, including three that hit five years’ lows.
Investors exchanged 174,546 shares for $2,851,630 from an exchange of 12 securities against 15 on Monday, when 473,189 shares for $9,463,769 traded.  The big news of the day is the three for one stock split of West Indian Tobacco stock and the closing bid at $40 compared with the adjusted last traded price of $34.98, suggesting a big boost to the market indices when next it trades.
At the close of the market, the prices of 4 stocks rose, 5 declined while 3 remained unchanged, leading the Composite Index to drop 8.60 points to end at 1,413.37. The All T&T Index dived 19.37 points to 1,763.32, while the Cross Listed Index rose 0.32 points to close at 144.13.
