T&TSE suffers minor slip on Tuesday

Market activity ended, with the market declining after investors traded 37 percent fewer shares on Tuesday than on Monday, resulting in more stocks falling than rising at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.

Trading ended with 20 securities changing hands similar to Monday and ended with five stocks rising, seven declining and eight remaining unchanged.
The Composite Index slipped 1.84 to 1,341.91, the All T&T Index lost 0.84 points to close at 1,794.69 and the Cross-Listed Index dipped 0.39 points to 120.25.
At the close of the market, 236,729 shares traded, at $2,812,561 compared to 377,790 units at $3,630,602 on Monday.
An average of 11,836 units changed hands at $140,628 compared to 18,890 at $181,530 on Monday. An average of 11,842 units traded at $263,239 for the month to date versus 11,843 units at $286,157. The average trade for March was 12,610 units at $342,338.

Stocks recorded gains down under

Stocks mostly rose in market activity on Monday, with the market rising after investors traded 36.35 percent more shares than on Friday, but with a lower value at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.

Market activity ended on Thursday, with the market indices slipping modestly as volume traded declined marginally but with the value of trades falling 42 percent below that on Wednesday when trading closed on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange.
Similar to Wednesday, 17 securities changing hands on Thursday, with prices of three stocks rising, one declining and 13 closing unchanged. the Composite Index lost 0.33 points to settle at 1,343.16, the All T&T Index declined 0.66 points to settle at 1,779.51, and the Cross-Listed Index closed unchanged at 122.68.

Falling prices dominate Trinidad stocks

Falling stock prices overwhelmed rising prices at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday, but a $1.27 price rise for First Citizens Bank pushed most market indices higher at the close after trading volume spiked 155 percent, with the value 286 percent higher than Thursday’s levels.

First Citizens Bank added $1.27 to finish at $44 on TTSE on Friday.

Trading closed with 15 active securities, up from thirteen on Thursday, ending with two stocks rising, eight declining and five ending unchanged. Trading resulted in 206,873 shares for $5,298,240 compared to 81,012 shares valued $1,372,046 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 13,792 units at $353,216 versus an average of 6,232 units at $105,542 for each security on Thursday. Trading month to date averaged 11,699 units at $297,164 compared to 11,045 units at $279,648. December closed with an average of 14,490 units at $237,988.

Rebound for TTSE market

Republic Financial Holdings rebounded from the big fall on Friday with a rise of more than 4.26 percent on Monday and helped the primary indices to move higher at the close of trading.  The market closed with an exchange of 122 percent more shares, but the value fell by 51 percent from Friday’s levels.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, up from twelve on Friday, and ended with four stocks advancing, six declining and four remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 382,748 shares for $1,536,872.54 compared to 172,050 shares valued $3,148,874 on Friday.

The primary indices fell for a second consecutive day in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday.  The number of shares exchanged, led by volume leader Clico Investments, was 35 percent higher than Tuesday with values climbing 345 percent.
The market closed with 14 securities trading, up from 20 on Tuesday, and closed with five stocks advancing, seven declining and two remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 177,082 shares for $4,263,329 compared to 101,236 shares valued $958,604 on Tuesday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 12,649 units at $304,524 versus an average of 5,062 units at $47,930 for each security on Tuesday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 8,491 shares at $126,214 compared to 7,942 units at $102,663 on Tuesday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.

Big fall for T&T stocks

All indices fell sharply in trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Tuesday, ending with an exchange of 128 percent more shares and a 47 percent increase in values compared to Monday’s trading.
The number of securities trading surged to 20, from just nine on Monday, and closed with two stocks advancing, seven declining and eleven remaining unchanged. The T&T Composite Index declined by 6.22 points to 1,295.90, the All T&T Index dropped 10.47 points to 1,737.96, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.26 points to close at 115.41.
